Just as an idea, when Harry gets tense at "Boy" or similar denegrating insults, he's showing an exploitable weakness. Brentan should be over using that in his training of Harry to inoculate him to it. Rons weaknesses too could be done the same way. A swordsman from that sort of society wouldn't coddle him. He'd talk to him about it, but he'd also abuse the shit out of it until he got stronger. Until words couldn't hurt him.

Well, you know what you should have done if the problem was you hated the reliance and such when it came to their use of magic. You should have done something that made it that their magic was either out of wack or that have them train in new magic.
