I love it. It's perhaps a bit uncharacteristic for the d'Art that's shown on TV, but it's a fantastic scene: wonderfully written, highly emotional and it has awesome bromance in the end. Great read!

This is one of the few fics I actually cried reading. I-I just- My heart broke like the Musketeers' did because gods know, d'Artagnan doesn't need to have such thoughts. But a wonderful refreshing read.
And the emphasis on the last word was very well put.

And now I am silent crying for D'Artagnan.
Your writing is very powerful. I felt almost as hurt as the Musketeers when D'Artagnan calls himself shattered and pathetic. Along with the expressions of the Musketeers, which was very well written. I... I am just overwhelmed by this piece.
Wonderful writing. The angst was appreciated. And the last line of course. That emphasis on 'understands'.

It's sad that d'Artagnan thinks of himself as just pieces/attributes of other people and not an individual, but luckily the Inseparables are there to set him straight. Just as those three are their own person, they're a part of each other as well. Great fic and very well put! :)

O.M.G. I'm tearing up here! And while I'm a sap for an excellently written story, I'm not usually crying at 2000 words!

I loved the immediacy of this being set in presence tense, it drifted into past tense a couple of times, but that didn't bother me. It was just so incredibly powerful being inside of d'Artagnan as he IS, not 'was' or 'is meant to be' at some point following this story when he has found himself. I hope that makes sense, but know, at the very least, I was totally gripped throughout the story.

I actually sat down to write a thank you note to Quest, was wandering the favorites on that site and ran across this story. You do a great job with synopsizes, too, I was compelled to read and then HAD to leave a review. It's always so cool to run across a story that's so out of the ordinary it grabs you by the throat and shakes you like my dog shakes her toys.

An amazingly sensitive and beautiful piece of writing! The flow of the story depicts very well how ravaging to the soul doubt and depression can be, and the ending was perfect. Kudos to you!

I'd like to echo part of Sparky199's review, and add that your writing skills are phenomenal. I've read some of your other stories (mostly Musketeers ones), and you always manage to engage my emotions with the characters. The way you explain the thoughts of the characters flows very well, and I think that given d'Artagnanan's role in the group dynamics that this scene could plausibly be an "extra" that occurs between episodes.
