I am so glad to rediscover your fics! I read this a few months ago and faved/followed your profile. But when I found your miraculous fics, I was pleasantly surprised to find this fic again. Lovely writing about a lovely Uzumaki.

I had an evening off so i sat down with a glass of red and said to myself, Im gonig to check out those stories i bookmarked on my history page tonight, so here i am.

I like to sort of live-review the things I read so I’l comment on my impressions as I go.
I started the paragraph about Koji the finantial advisor and as I got further into it I thought *scoff* ugh sexist dick. He goes on talking about women and I curl my lip and wanna slap him. You say ‘as long as they remember their priority and their propriety’ and I get some wine up my nose, already hoping Hinata dismantles the snooty bastard or sth. (as far as characterization goes, I can already tell – three paragraphs in – that I will like you very much. I love how you give us that the character is sexist and if not that far, then deeply traditionalist by the way his thoughts turn on a matter)

I LOVE the fact that you have Hinata through his eyes. Hinata through the eyes of sexist men is my favorite Hinata! Because she is all they see, but they see so LITTLE of her. Skin deep. I loved how even as he appreciated her, he retained a very lofty very high and might air.

Lol – when he wished for a fan I laugh for some reason. It’s just such a careless thought, a genuine one. Wishing for random things while we’re in our heads. I mean, I hated that I related to such a man, but yeah, I did there.

‘vapid conversation’ – you really wanna make me hate this guy don’t you! If yes, its sooo working. I mean look at him, enjoying women while putting them down for the very same reason he enjoys them! You gave us misogyny in one sentence.

I loved how relaxed and completely cool Hinata seemed to be throughout this part of the exchange. She was so in her own, it’s like she doesn’t bother to react to him at all. I admire that. I let people rile me up all the time. And how much do I love that she just left him there, sitting on his ass cause she had nothing to say to him! I would bet my left arm that Hinata knew exactly what this guy (who I bet had been patronizing to her the whole time throuout their dealings) was going to say to her ‘my husband is taking care of our children’ comment. I bet she sized him up the second they met. I adore how she interrupted him at just the right time. She shut him down by completely derailing him and while also taking from him the information that she needed but so subtly. ( love how she masks her intentions by being what he expects her to be: calm, concentrated on a ‘womannish’ pursuit like knitting, questioning him almost absentmindedly, so quietly slipping into a wallflower) By the time how knew what was happening it had already happened – and same goes for me!

I didn’t realize at all that she was ‘interrogating’ him on the delegation and concluding they were no delegation at all until she asked him to step aside!

(her logic and quick decision making is so apparent here though. She gathered facts, estimated the them and the deviations from usual patters, came to the right conclusion: I loved it)

I loved the way you described the fight scene. (I had a horrid time with those, actively used to avoid them) I love the idea of Hinata fighting in kimono. The imagery it paints is beautiful. And I especially love the fact that it is beautiful but deadly also – which is awesome because it ties back very neatly to your title and overall idea of the story. (the only critique I can think of adding here is not to use the word ‘tenkentsu point’ – not for any specific reason, but just a feeling I had, that as the outside viewer with little to no experience of how the Hyuga fight, Koji would know to use that word? Again, this is just a feeling I got, from his character. It is contradicted by the fact that he is high in court and has probably met and heard of a hundred warriors and prodigies and knows the clans well. But its supported by the fact that not once in the story did he refer to Hinata as a Hyuga – which would have let us know without any added word, that he knows the clan and its fighting style. I hope I’m making sense here)
Another thing I noticed was that, throughout the chapter, we were watching the story through Koji’s eyes, but as the fight moved on it became more and more obvious that it was moving through Hinata’s eyes. In which case, the use of specificity and everything that comes with it is perfectly alright and actually helps ground the pov – because Hinata would know those things.

My favorite moment ever: Hinata, beautiful, soft-spoken lady Hinata who is now spattered with blood, casually cleaning the blood off the innocuous looking knitting-needles (that had just been used to stab a man through somewhere vital!) and, gentle as you like, informs the man in front of her that ‘excuse me please, I have some bodies that need transporting.’ I honestly cackled at that. And her smile! Can you imagine a woman like that, looking like the picture of the submissive, soft female who wears blood on her face almost as well as she wears everything else, smiling at you like it’s nothing! It freaking terrifying! I would scream! I would want to kiss her but I’d be too afraid and in awe of this terrifying creature!

And the rest – how kindly she treats him despite the fact that he was probably an ass to her. And she just goes on like nothing has happened (while I wonder, is she doing that on purpose? Does she know how much more this guy will shit his pants because she is everything he thought women should be and that everything is also capable of killing him with her pinkie! I think she does!)

‘And Tenten’s been helping me as well’ ‘I didn’t know Tenten knitted.’ Hinata smiled amusedly. ‘She doesn’t’

You like going off with a bang huh! I loved that line! Perfect way to end this fic. Says so much beneath the words (that she has a family she loves, that she trains, a sense of humor that is a little teasing), its awesomeness made ending-line.

Overall, I really like your subtlety. I LOVE your Hinata and I love her most because I don’t really know what’s in her head which is fantastic. I love the idea of her being so vicious sometimes without losing herself (but I think you already know that ;P )

I read the author note and I gotta say, I had no idea that there were people who take issue with her knitting of all things. Im so behind on Naruto fandom stuff, but I still enjoy a good fic every once in a while.

Awesome story! I wish there was more feedback I could provide, but sincerely, all I can think is 'awesome!' Excellent story! You described Hinata's fighting style super well and the incorporation of the knitting was a nice clever addition. Or actually, come to think of it I suppose since the fic is from a civilian's POV and there was a lot of play on the juxtaposition of Hinata as a Lady vs. kunoichi, it might be nice to include Hinata activating her Byakugan and Koji's reaction to that part of her transformation as well. Contrariwise, she's so awesome and her assailants were so beneath her that she probably didn't even need to use it to utterly destroy them when it was 3 against 1 and she also had a bystander to protect ;) Yay Hinata!

That was AWESOME! Badass Hinata is always wonderful to read, and idiots at court underestimating someone as deadly as a Hyuuga is even more fun.

Nice to see that Hinata herself had talked with and planed for this 'ambush' with the Kumo ambassador and that these was just some idiot nukenin. Though how they ever thought to survive if they HAD gotten her with just whom her husband is I would like to know.

Amazing! Def saving this one. Loved every paragraph of it especially when she almost made that pompous pig wet himself.
