So, as the daughter of Tom Riddle (she’d have been born before he rose to power as Lord Voldemort, which I suppose is a good thing), wouldn’t Lily be a parselmouth? How could she have hid it, without even knowing? I suppose she may not have encountered a snake, especially in Gryffindor, until she knew enough to know a: Voldemort may have been her real father and b: it’s considered Dark, and therefore she hid it but made the most of it.

Of course, it is also entirely possible that the result of Tom Riddle was a false positive that’s something to do with either the Scarcrux or the Ritual in the Chamber, but without information to support that, I probably can’t assume it.

A teacher doing magic on a student against her will? A *male* teacher doing magic that disables the wand arm, the means of self defense, on a *female* student? In broad daylight with witnesses? I smell a law suit against the school.

In this universe Mary has competent legal guardians who actually care about her. Couldnt she sue the prophet for harassment or profiting off her likeness without her permission?

I think this is actually a pretty good take on the house elves, it actually tries to go into why house elves would stay essentially slaves instead of just being 'oh, they like it, they're all cool with it,' and nothing else like most fics I've read.
