It's a little late for me to give my input on this matter, especially considering you're so many chapters into this story and I'm reviewing chapter 2. But the way I saw the Ultimate form was more or less a boost to his base power. Like you even mentioned, the power was Gohan's all along, he just wasn't able to unlock it. Now it's unlocked, he should still be able to go Super, but because it would boost his power immensely, maybe his body can't handle the strain of that power. Maybe he's subconsciously preventing himself from going Super because deep down, he knows it would tear his body to shreds. Because if you think about it, his Ultimate form is basically equal to SSJ2 power without transforming, and he can get stronger than that still without transforming, even on par with SSJ3 Goku, and now if he were able to transform, that would be a 50-100x multiplier on top of that. It's a lot of power, for anyone really. That's just the way I view his Ultimate form.

Blue Exorcist, Gohan was Rin and Videl was Kamaki. I liked that you gave a real life lesson to kid trunks along with the irony of greed.

This is just a guess, but were Gohan and Videl dressed as characters from Blue Exorcist? That was the only series involving 'Blue Fire and school uniforms I could think of.
