Eh.. welcome back?

I love it so far. Not a new concept overall, but I'm always down to read a Jaune fic.

Don't sweat comments about having characters be a little...out of character. If we all stuck to canon, Fanfiction would be nothing more than us swapping transcripts with each other. Your characters are true to form, except for one, and you've explained the divergence from canon. This makes for a solid fic.

I like this start. I love the idea of a jaded man, old before his time and aggressively indifferent, being surrounded by people who have various levels, and flavors, of enthusiasm. Pyrrha's reaction to Jaune's lack of hero worship also feels solid. This seems a good premise to begin an epic tale. What I'm trying to say is, great job with the first chapter and I'm really looking forward to more.

I'm gonna say it: annoyed jaune is best jaune.

So Calcipher's plan to unite Remnant is to out Ironwood and cause a Civil war in Atlas, and then do similar things in the other kingdoms, presumable causing a huge war, which after a while they will soon realize that Calcipher was behind it all and then unite together to kill him... and its all to unite the world against Salem...

Yeah... Salem totally won't take advantage of the war to fulfil her agendas or anything...

Also besides losing the battle of beacon and having imcompatance, what Crime has Ironwood committed to deserve imprisonment or worse?

Hello, I've been meaning to write a review for the longest time and now I've finally found the time. Although the jumps between the past and the present weren't confusing to me I understand why you decided to rewrite it. I definitely want to see more of Calchiper and Katerina, and more of Jaune's mother. The parallels in your original story with Jaune, Pyrrhaand Weiss were definitely one of my favorite aspects of the story. I do have one question though. If I remember correctly, in the original prologue, Calcipher convinces Weiss on taking the SDC, and it's then he makes the observation that Jaune is in love with Weiss. However this conversation didn't take place here, and forgive me if I'm wrong, but Jaune doesn't appear to hold such feelings for Weiss, much less after what went down with Pyrrha. If you go through that route, i imagine it'll be complicated for them to fall in love. But I'm also looking forward to all the new aspects you'll b developing her. See you soon!

(Even if you did change the ending sorry forgot that. I actually find it more of a fitting ending to Achilles but that’s a different discussion.)

I love your description of Achilles! I’m a huge literature buff, so I appreciated deeply your well rounded (given it draws from numerous literary sources) and true to Achilles’ character summation of the character.

Now, I also wanted to say I’ve been following this for a while now. Good work with this chapter, I look forward to seeing where this fic goes.
