Reviews for Total Drama: Battle of the Generations
Random Review chapter 9 . 8/16
This story of yours is amazing. I have read all of it and the characters are totally in character to what they were portrayed on the show, but with a bit more character development. As to where the next location is, I thinking it is probably either in the Caribbean somewhere or in Canada itself. Also, to who may be the next to be eliminated depends on which team loses. For Team Old School, Cody, Courtney and D.J. seem to be safe as they have plot armor with Sammy, Scott and Dawn. If I had to guess it would have to be Beth because she is the only person that Cody could beat in a tiebreaker, assuming that Beth, D.J. and Courtney vote for him. For Team Radioactive, Dawn and Scott have plot armor as well. Brick has his redemption arc with Lightning, so unless Anne Maria helps out again big time, she could be the next one gone. Finally, for Team Explosive, the only one I see sticking around longer is Sammy. The others look like they could go at any time. What Chris said about there being a double elimination soon has me worried. I know that Jasmine has put serious fear into the rest of the team. However, if Amy, Sugar or Dave find out about the no violence against contestants rule, they may use that to their advantage. For example, if one of them is voted off, they could take Jasmine down with them by pissing her off enough to throw a punch at them which would allow the double elimination to occur. Of course, anything can happen at this point and I cannot wait to read the next chapter.
Serious-Comedian chapter 9 . 8/12
I'm really enjoying this fic so far, especially the newly formed cross-team alliance between Cody/Trent/Sammy/Jasmine/Beardo. Hopefully it stays that way, although something tells me Amy or Sugar or Dave is gonna find out about this cross-team alliance and sabotage it. Cody and Sammy seem to be the linchpins of the alliance, I unfortunately see one of them getting booted soon. I also feel like Courtney might try to form a cross-team alliance with Beth/DJ/Courtney/Scott soon. Team Old School is taking a backseat these past few chapters, but hopefully the tension heats up again as both Cody and Courtney try to boot each other out (and thus knock out potential cross-team alliances) before the merge arrives!

I also like Cody and Sammy forming a relationship as well as the ship teasing between Scott and Courtney. C'mon Courtney, you know you like him! Cody/Sammy and Scott/Courtney are both pairings that I like a lot and I wanna see them develop further Scott's redemption arc feels a tad bit rushed but I also love how it's giving him a lot of character development.

And yeah, Sugar flirting with B to distract him so Amy could sabotage his device, that was disgusting but also completely in-character for Sugar. At least B figured it out during the song and got his revenge on the gruesome twosome. B is one of my favorite characters and it's a real bummer he got booted. Oh well, at least he left on a happy note with his entire team giving him a nice send-off. I also like how you're making Dave an antagonist in this fic. I like Dave but I also recognize that he would make good antagonist material.

As for a future destination, I was wondering if you're interested in having the cast visit Yellowstone National Park? Mostly cuz the city of Cody, Wyoming is nearby (imagine Cody reacting to a city with his name! lol) but also because I've visited Yellowstone twice and I thought it was pretty cool. Challenges could include dodging geysers like the Ridonculous Race did in Iceland, and trying to herd bison. Maybe even a bison meat eating contest? Picking wildflowers? Or just a good old hiking/canoeing in the wilderness challenge. Honestly I wouldn't put it past Chris to force the contestants to do highly illegal shit.
FOWLKON chapter 9 . 7/12
Damn, B got sabotaged, but went down swinging and nearly pulled a tiebreaker. Of course Chris would pull a non-elimination out of his ass in the elimination ceremony just to milk the drama. And as much as I hate Amy, I found it utterly hilarious of her reviled reaction to Sugar flirting with B. And yes, B was within his right feel sickened by the whole ordeal; I'd puke too if Sugar flirted with me, even if it was fake-flirting.
.
Speaking of Amy, Sammy remains safe as Beardo came through for her. I guess she owes Cody a kiss on the cheek at least. I just hope Amy doesn't see or else the ol' twin switcharoo drama will be in play again *hint hint*. Maybe Cody and Trent can pull Beardo, Sammy, and Jasmine into a Drama Brothers alliance along with Leshawna?
.
Oh, and speaking of "alliances" (Chef: "Is that what the kids are calling it nowadays? Sign me up for that!"), when are Courtney and Scott going to hook back up this season? It needs to happen. Dawn will be blushing over a plane filled with pink aura. I feel like Beth is having a little too much fun at Courtney's expense, but it's only light teasing.
.
Now, let's talk about the next challenge. You mentioned of staying in the Americas. Like I asked last time, would that also include the Caribbean? Either way, I would probably exclude Central America due to close proximity. I think it would probably be the West Coast of either Canada or the States this time, more specifically the Cascadia region (BC, Washington, and Oregon), and you have your choices of Vancouver (BC), Seattle, or Portland.
.
Shoot, I even think Chris is overdue for a Canadian challenge as we speak. If I did guess right in the Cascadian region, can you incorporate Old Doug, the unofficial flag of the region (Horizontal triband of blue, white, and green, charged with a dark central silhouette of a single Douglas Fir tree)? This would be my primary guess. Ihave a distant secondary guess with a detailed challenge that you can use with my permission, but only if you follow it to a T.
.
My other guess would be San Francisco, it's an hour-long episode, and remember... this challenge has to be followed exactly to the description.
.
It's a team challenge, but it's individual-based. I had a Total Drama challenge that I wanted to do there in my own story (partly because I was born across the Bay), but I never got around to writing it. It would start each camper having to escape from Alcatraz (because why not) and a take deathly swim where they would have to swim in shark-infested waters to the Presidio, where it would be a booby-trapped footrace and collect individual pieces of a team flag at each checkpoint circling south and east around the city.
.
In order, I would have them start by collect the first piece at the landing point at the Presidio, then a rodeo roundup while at the Bison Paddock in Golden Gate Park, then the Castro Theatre whilst being mobbed by rabid NoCo shippers (yeah, poor Cody(and poor Sammy by proxy)), make a deadly climb to the top of the Mt. Sutro Tower, run through Forest Hill and Parkside to get to the flag pieces at the middle of Lake Merced while being pelted with exploding golf balls courtesy of Chef. Fore!
.
Afterwards, they would have to race across Balboa Park to Candlestick Point, where they would have to kayak around Hunter's to Pier 96 near India Basin while carrying seagull eggs while dodging their parents (poor Dawn), run up Dogpatch and Mission Bay to Oracle Park where they're tasked to bat a baseball from the tennis Dalek from the Dubai episode of the Ridonculous Race (I will laugh my ass off if it goes haywire because someone jammed it by hitting the baseball back into the barrel of the cannon). Then lastly, its a sprint back up to the Embarcadero where the contestants gather by team and piece together completed team flags at the base of Coit Tower.
.
The first team to gather and fully assemble a perfect flag wins immunity. The other two teams will each send a person home, yes a double elimination. Two rules. First, all players must individually fully complete the challenge at hand. No veering off course, no skipping challenges, or else they run the risk of automatic team disqualification and contestant elimination. If a player forgets or loses a piece of the team flag, that specific player must cycle back and run the entire gambit starting from the Presidio and complete each challenge a second time, or a third, or fourth... in order to retrieve the missing piece.
.
The second rule, players on opposing teams can interact with each other, but they cannot ACTIVELY sabotage each other. This is because Chris will laughingly say, and I quote, "Only I AM ALLOWED to have fun." Now here's the episode ending twist. The three teams are recycled and reshuffled into two, which are decided A-B style depending on who arrived FIRST with ALL the piece, with those who had to go back and re-run the course picked towards the end. How's that for an episode?
BlueIce RedFire chapter 9 . 7/3
hehehe blondes make everything more fun. seriously, Amy, Sugar and Sammy made this chapter, and I've definitely become a lot more invested in Team Explosive than the other teams, sorry to them other teams.

Jasmine going all vengeance mode was aight, i guess i'm not that interested in her nor did i think it would be more than just threats and whatnot. But, I do like the ripple effect Shawn's elimination is playing, since it seems to be pushing Sammy towards the other teams, and Jasmine in a different direction altogether.

i can't say i was surprised about the elimination, nor was i expecting it. It was more the kind of chapter where i was like "i wonder what shenanigans will go down?" and as it happened, it's the tampering kind, noice. can't say i care much about B but now Team Radioactive is down a strong player, like how the Explosives are down Shawn. but now they have one less player than the rest.

i know there was some Old School moments, but tbh i can't really remember much of anyone there but Cody and Trent chatting with Sammy and Beardo. i'm anticipating an Old School focused chapter next o: speaking of, i'm interested in knowing who'll get the boot. Cody and Courtney seem safe due to their association with other teams, but that's just more reason, huh?

not a huge review this time, but i enjoyed this chapter! Act Two is of to a strong start and i'm excited to see where it goes from here!
Foreseer44 chapter 9 . 7/3
I figured this particular elimination was coming as soon as B made that device but man, did it deliver. Even if B wasn't that big of a character in the season, he was still fun for his couple big moments and the dude's great fodder for villains to pick off, so he was a solid addition. Didn't overstay his welcome, didn't go out super early again. Pretty nice.

Team Old School is by far the most boring of the teams. Cody and Courtney have stuff to do, and Trent too even if I've largely forgotten when he's been up in the past, but man, the other three are just not there at the moment. I'd hope they either get some plot lines soon or leave the jet, because I'd hate to lose anyone from the other teams before them.

Team Radioactive is pretty fun. Scott and Lightning have some solid redemption stories going on, Brick's got a solid plot going with helping Lightning mature as a person, and Dawn and Anne Maria are fun additions with great personalities. If we had to chop one of them I'd probably cut Dawn just because I feel like she offers the least to the team, but I'd be cool if this team just won out to a swap or merge.

And then we have Team Explosive, which is by far the best team across the board. Everyone's important. Everyone has a story. Everyone is fun to read. It's just magical, and I hate that this team will have to lose some members before the merge because this group is amazing. Amy and Sugar are stan-worthy villains and the longer they stick around the better. Dave is also fun as a petty antagonist with more depth than a lot of stories would probably give him in that role. Jasmine going full OTTN and wrecking havoc is great. And then you got Beardo being a sweet, innocent bystander. Oh and Samey exists too. I don't really find her that interesting compared to the rest because generic nice characters aren't my thing but she's got a plot going on two levels so she's still one of the ones to watch.

You definitely had me thinking a double boot was in order though. I'm glad it wasn't though because losing Amy (and it would 99% would have been Amy let's be real) would have been brutal. She and Sugar can cut bitches all the way to the finals and you wouldn't hear a complaint from me.

Staying in the Americas, huh? Well I don't know if you'd do two Central/South American locations in a row. If it was the USA you'd probably tell us so we'd be able to guess a state. So I'm thinking maybe Canada? Yeah, I'mma go with Canada.

Great chapter as always and I'm eagerly looking forward to more of Act II :D
a chapter 9 . 7/2
I hope the next chapter is in my country which also is in Latin America.
I knew that neither Sammy or Amy would be eliminated, it would be very obvious
RhondaTheStalkerFan chapter 2 . 7/1
(So I’ve read all the way to the Aftermath because it was so addicting. I came from the TD Fanfiction Wiki, so not a lot of canon fics and sadly few things with Pahkitew Island characters. It’s just been awesome reading something that follows canon and captures the voice really well. I’ll try to make my reviews briefer to get caught up).

I hate it, but Amy will probably get Rodney under her control and it is the smartest move for her.

I can be very thick headed at times, so somehow I didn’t notice they were parodying Let It Go. Awesome parody once I realized it, the perfect song for this place too.

Glad B was able to find a loophole about the singing rule, it wouldn’t be as fun if someone went home right away, especially under that circumstance. Also glad he’ll still be silent otherwise. Not sure how I’d feel about B talking normally. I guess I’m not opposed to it, but it feels like it's something that is built up.

I wasn’t the biggest Sugar fan during PI’s airing, but she’s grown on me a lot since then, especially when we can see her playing the villain and doing her own level of scheming.

Animals! You think Old School would know to avoid seals after WT’s Yukon challenge. I love the hoards of penguins, it’s just so cute in my head. Didn’t know albatrosses lived there, but that’s super cool. Antarctica does have its own interesting wildlife. I was kind of hoping for a colossal squid appearance, but we get something just as cool.

Yetis! I wouldn’t have questioned them being in Antarctica, since a lot of media just has them appear in cold places, but interesting to know Chris just kidnapped them from Sibera. Chris just views the world as his own personal playground.

Beardo saving Team Explosive with his Godzilla roar was awesome! Really excited for the big guy to get his due this season and he has so much potential with all the noises he can make. And we saw the Dakotazoid transformation!

I’d say Courtney’s temper was the undoing of Team Old School not getting first class...but maybe without it she wouldn’t have used her cattle prod. As the narration said, Scott’s taunting was definitely the undoing of Team Radioactive.

Courtney’s confessional about it was hilarious.

I admit I’m sad to see Staci go. I can’t argue with your logic in the Author’s Notes, she was meant to be a gimmicky character and an easy to justify first boot. I’ve halfway suspected that the writers made her so annoying so fans wouldn’t launch onto her like they had with Ezekiel. But that kind of made me ironically like her...and well, when you like something ironically it’s not too long before it becomes real.

So I was hoping she’d get some development or fleshing out, but a lot of the cast needs that or is just more interesting. You’d have to offer up someone who might have more just to take the room to do something with Staci. Plus, if the choice is her or Scott I’d definitely want to keep Scott. His rivalry with Courtney and trying to redeem himself with his former victims is really compelling.

The Boot of Shame is a nice idea to spice it up. I’m not big on most methods of leaving the show after WT, but there is just something fun about people being kicked by a giant boot.

I love the voting confessionals and the After the Boot of Shame too. It’s fun like those old exclusive clips were.

To comment more directly on the Author’s Note and casting, I think the cast is all really solid. Team Radioactive makes total sense. While part of me would like Sam to be relevant after being such a random All-Star choice, I’m pretty neutral to him and way more excited for Lightning and Scott. No complaints.

Pahkitew Island returnees are harder to pick, but again I’m here for the team. Not crazy about Dave as a character. His insane descent in the finale mostly, but he was also annoying and kind of rude to most people? Like his constantly talking down to Beardo. A trait that hasn’t left here and I hope Beardo calls him out on it.

Sammy makes a lot of sense, really wasted development with her by PI cutting her so soon. So happy to see her and Jasmine's friendship continuing. Amy is just so unlikable and narrowed in on her sister, my first inclination would be not to pick her. It can stunt Sammy’s role to be an individual and while an Amy without Sammy might be interesting, it feels weird.

But, I can see how the twins’ story feels unresolved. Amy seducing Rodney shows she might be more of the antagonist people were hoping for when PI was first announced. I’m still here for an Amy takedown at the hands of her sister, so there’s that to look forward too.

My instinct would be to pick Topher and Ella over those two, but I feel like seeing how it played out that's the wrong call. Sugar also is a better choice than Sky. I like Sky, but as I said above Sugar’s grown on me. As a writer, I notice she has a lot more fun dialog because of her rash personality and dialect too.

Team Old School is filled with a lot of favorites. A little disappointed Bridgette was cut since Geoff got to have his own limelight, but I do feel a bit bad for not considering Beth an All-Star. How big a character she was has been kind of lost since the end of Action. I think the writers clearly like her since she appears in the spin-off. I do too!

I guess Cody as a former finalist makes since, but he was never my favorite in WT. I felt he was just there most of the time. Maybe I just need to re-watch the season. I have really enjoyed him in other fics, like Comeback and Legend of Total Drama Island, so I'm here for them.

Trent is definitely a character who needs redemption. I’m not sure I’d have him and Cody though. That’s the biggest question mark for me with the whole cast.

They usually fill a similar role in fics as the more sane member of their team and somebody getting a new love interest. Most of the Old School feel like they’d be more calm. With the Drama Brothers actually being acknowledged, they feel even more like they’re filling the same role. I might have chosen Tyler just for his comedy (and because it’s a crime he and Noah weren’t used more in WT).

But, the first two chapters were great so I’m not really worried and excited for what’ll happen with each character. The WT setting is super fun and the Battle of Generations is a great theme. It does limit cast interactions, but they all are on the plane so it’s clearly not a big problem.

Honestly, the voices and mannerisms for the characters feel so authentic and follow the internal logic for the characters that I just really enjoyed it! Can’t wait to see all the directions the story goes in.
Joel Connell chapter 9 . 7/1
This was a pleasant surprise. You updated on your stories anniversary. I was fully expecting Cody to want to help out Sammy by getting Beardo to flip to Jasmine and Sammy’s side. I am glad that even though Amy and Sugar got Shawn eliminated, Jasmine still managed to strike fear into them which wiped the smug looks from their faces. Also, the location Guatape, Colombia was an unexpected place to do a challenge, with the Rock of Guatape no less. I actually went to Columbia several years ago in December and it was so hot and humid, so I feel bad for the contestants having to deal with the heat. The challenge itself was very well thought out as well. Too bad B had to be sabotaged by Amy, Sugar and Dave. But, at least he left on good terms with his team. I am glad that Beardo did the right thing and voted for Amy. Here’s hoping he does it again when the time comes. Also, you really fooled me with the double elimination part. Amy is running scared now. I cannot wait to see what the next location is. Maybe, it’s what one reviewer said like Haiti and the challenge involves something with Voodoo because that’s something that Chris would do to the contestants. Keep up the good work.
Mahboi124 chapter 9 . 7/1
Was this chapter's release date a coincidence? It's the 2 year anniversary of this story after all.
Dangit. I like B, but like you said, he's a difficult character to write into a third-person story.
Fun challenge and interesting location, so good on you.
Another destination in the Americas, huh?
I'm still holding out on Costa Rica since it seems like a safe choice.

If you have any destinations in Asia that you're unsure about, Bhutan would be an interesting choice.
Puzzlefan 123 chapter 9 . 7/1
Alright Beardo flipped onto Sammy and Jasmines side
WeirdAlfan101 chapter 9 . 7/1
I had a hunch B was on the chopping block, and I was right this time. He's a cool guy, but hard to write for in these kinds of fanfictions.

I'm happy to see that Sammy/Cody ship coming up again. That storyline is honestly my favorite part of the whole story, and I'm really enjoying how you're making it feel so far.

Though on the topic of it, Dave, you can go ahead and fuck right off with that remark, and not feeling regret for booting the only person who gave a damn about you in the first place. You deserve all the hate you've been getting.
Knifez chapter 9 . 7/1
So this was a chapter! A good one at that!

You already know my thoughts on Big Boi Bev, so I'll spare you my paragraph talking about how glad I am that he's eliminated. I thought you went about it in a creative and fun way, though. You also had me convinced with that double elimination! I was looking forward to a twin showdown. Ah well, another day, perhaps.

Team Old School definitely took a backseat here, though I do like Trent and Cody trying to butter Beardo up. It worked, too! Interesting dynamic with them trying to recruit him into the Drama Brothers.

Sammy/Cody continues to be well done but outside of my scope of interest. Cody is just yawn, and Cody in relationships is double that for me personally.

Team Radioactive is definitely my favorite right now. You have Dawn who is chilling, Scott who is low-key thirsting after Courtney and just doing his thing, and Anne Maria being a total badass! But my favorite thing is the Lightning and Brick dynamic you have going on here, with Brick teaching and guiding Lightning to be a team player. Really digging that!

As for Explosive, I LOVED seeing angry badass Jasmine and I hope we see more of her. She is a queen. Dave, Amy and Sugar can eat dirt, Scott style. Sammy is cool, I guess. She's got some interesting plots and her rivalry with Amy is handled better than in most stories I've seen. Then theres Beardo, who's pretty much just a number in the votes at this point in time. I'm pegging him for a late pre-merge, early merge boot. Somewhere between 10th-14th, I think.

Unfortunately, Team Old School continue to be the least interesting because they have the least to do. With each passing chapter Beth, LeShawna and DJ seem more and more like fodder picks. Maybe they did some stuff in earlier chapters it's been a while since I re-read this, and I know DJ was the cook-meister last chapter, but damn. Compared to everyone else, they're seriously lacking in plot. You said that new plots are coming in act II, so I have faith you'll either get them some stuff to do or get them off the Jet. At least Courtney, Cody and Trent have some stuff to do.

All in all awesome stuff, as usual! Looking forward to the next chapter! Congrats on the milestones too, you definitely deserve them!
Rockin' D-99 chapter 9 . 7/1
This was a very solid chapter to kick off the second act!

I actually really enjoyed the Team Explosive drama in the beginning! I think I’m expecting and hoping for Amy to finally get her well-deserved boot next, but given this is reality TV after all, I also feel that something could very well possibly happen to prevent her from getting eliminated and cause more drama to keep the in-universe ratings high. It’s happened a couple times already now. I’m just hoping to god she doesn’t end up making the merge because let’s be honest, she doesn’t deserve it and isn’t a good enough competitor overall to make it that far.

The challenge was very fun too and I really like how you choose a few less predictable countries to spice things up every once in a while (in this case, Columbia). and I especially loved that you decided to choose “Danger Zone” as the next song parody! Not only does it fit well with the challenge with the Top Gun inspiration, but I actually have very fond, personal memories of this song because I have performed in School of Rock for a very long time and in an 80’s show that we did, I sang this song when I was a lot younger! Kenny Loggins in general is a pretty underrated artist. I know that this and “Footloose” are the two songs that everybody knows from him, but he’s got other really good yacht rock/arena rock tunes as well (“This Is It”, “Heartlight”, etc.) Yeah, if you couldn’t tell, I’m a pretty big music nerd, LOL!

Anyway, such a shame that B got sabotaged like that, even though I should have seen it coming for a while now. B hardly ever goes far in stories like this for the exact reasons you mentioned in your AN. This is also further reason I’m hoping for Amy to get booted sooner rather than later, though I do really like how you’re writing her as an antagonist so far! I think it showcases a lot of the wasted potential she could have shown on PI, and I think you pull it off really well! I’m now quite interested to see how the drama continues with Team Explosive in the future! I also liked how Sammy convinced Cody to also convince Trent to convince Beardo to vote Amy off (whew…), even though Chris announced it wouldn’t be a double elimination.

Speaking of Chris, I like how you carry over a lot of his best, trademark antagonistic traits such as tricking and fooling the contestants in many different ways, but you also don’t make him the despicable and abusive psychopath he became in those later seasons.

But yeah, solid stuff as always and looking forward to the next update! This one was worth the wait!
FOWLKON chapter 8 . 6/30
The Americas? Hmm... would that include the Caribbean? Either way, a few countries come to mind, mostly in South America. I'll automatically rule out Brazil or even anything Amazon-related because it's been done twice over (once in World Tour and once in the Ridonculous Race). I'll rule out Venezuela as well because who in their right mind would go there right now (besides Chris).

I'd guess Columbia, Chile, and Argentina all for the same reason, rich in culture and history.
I'd guess Peru (outside of Macchu Picchu and the Amazon) for the Nazca Lines.

Panama has the Darien Gap, one of the most untamed jungles in the world (as well as being the link between Central and South America and the missing link in the Pan-American Highway (hence the name)).
Joel Connell chapter 8 . 6/29
I just wanted to let you know that your stories second anniversary is this Wednesday. I know that it may seem too much for the next chapter to be updated before then. In any case, I am looking forward to the next chapter.
