Guest chapter 34 . 5/26
Maybe Jaune will eventually become a champion.. so if that's the case I appreciate the gradual transition in Jaune improving... I wonder if the story will cover the span of a few years. I'm pretty sure I'll probably take at least a few years for Jaune to eventually become Pro... I wonder if phyraa have any interest in training him.. I mean it is called mixed martial arc for a reason.

However despite the benefits of mixed martial arts that are still needs to be in need of a solid foundation when it comes to mastering the basics

I wonder if Yang will ever fully recover

Lazruth chapter 1 . 1/3
Okay, pretty sweet set-up. I do like how Ruby acts in this, and you've nailed Jaune's initial weakness and lack of courage. I rather like this-

*Sees the pun at the end*

...2/10.

Gotta say, I’m actually god that you dropped the “Happy Holidays” BS so quickly in the omake. Speaking as someone who’s Jewish I always feel patronized when people say happy holidays when it’s obvious they mean Merry Christmas.

In regards to the chapter itself. I’m really happy to see Pyrrha again, it’ll create some great drama, but it’s also totally in line with her characterization to do something like this.
merendinoemiliano chapter 34 . 12/27/2019
Lovely chapter which makes me wish for more, happy new year.
Calamk chapter 34 . 12/27/2019
Welcome back, it's been a while huh. Also damn Pyrrha just showing up like she owns the place. Now let's hear about this new trainer subject.
SpiderLobb chapter 33 . 12/6/2019
Still enjoying the story so far. Thank you for keeping things engaging.

Wow, though, Pyrrha. What a bitch move.
Guest chapter 33 . 12/6/2019
Sometimes a chapter needs to be more serious and remain as such. A grain of comedy would ruin the taste because of how out of place it would. Thankfully that Nora scene was just the right pinch to work alongside the angst. I think you did a perfect job mixing both.

Personally, I’m starting to get vibes of two possible outcomes for this development: Jaune trains harder to become the champion that Yang wanted to become or he gets tired of all the damage it brings and abandons it completely. And whatever decision he makes will certainly affect his relationship with Ruby.
Vanishing Trooper chapter 33 . 12/6/2019
I guess it really looks like Yang will never be good enough to fight Pyrrha again. I suppose that means that Ruby will be the one to.

Badass
Katylar chapter 33 . 12/6/2019
This is good. I liked how you handled the drama of gym scene. I'm all-in on the side of Arkos, but I like the subtle conflict these interpersonal relationships are causing.

With that said, can't wait for the next installment. I completely understand Yang's behavior and it's fully in character. Ruby and Qrow are, as well. However, I do have to say, as an outsider looking in, I find Yang's stubbornness annoying. You can say all you want about her willpower and her loved-one's support, but in the end, we can't really blame Pyrrha for her injury-Yang is ultimately responsible for competing at such a high level (while evidently not being in Pyrrha's league) and then being too stubborn to tap out. Everyone's mollycoddling her is just going to cause a bigger fall-out. Of course, it's up to you if you want to give Yang a second chance. The characters are well written enough and in-character enough that I expected everyone's actions. My annoyance at Yang is a testament to how 'real' you made the character feel for me.

The one thing I think needs to be addressed soon because it's honestly wearing me (and some other readers) down is Jaune's situation with his family. His parents (and dad) in particular. I know that this is an ongoing conflict that you're slowly building up, but for me-it's gotten so frustratingly infuriating that I outright skip along any scenes involving Jaune's family Not because they're badly written-but because they cause me so much anger.

They are so completely self-righteous it's maddening. Not supporting a violent sport because of concerns about you child getting hurt is very valid; not supporting it because you think it's needlessly bloody is also valid. But pontificating pacifism to this degree is a type of violence in and of itself. They are not willing to listen to reason and just keep on hammering at Jaune's feelings and self-esteem.

At this point, I keep hoping for a scene (no matter how cheesy it may be) of the family being home-invaded and their refusal to take action leading to someone getting killed or badly hurt. Espousing against needless violence is ok; teaching that hurting another is bad is great parenting. Being this intolerant of something that is consensual, regulated, and considered by many as a means of self-improvement and self-actualization and discipline is just harmful, I think. It's like being a vegan and constantly criticizing your child who doesn't want to be a vegan, and then saying that he should be willing to starve himself rather than eat meat/animal-products.

Anyway, rant over. Really looking forward to the next chapter!

Is anyone other than Jaune and Yang(?) going to compete in matches?
