I think the one thing I found lacking was the fact the boy isn't identified until the end, and I almost thought this was a well written piece of original fiction, but it ended up as a nice AU for Kakashi's background.

A really, really nice story!

I like the rather silent character of the boy and the knowing shinobi... And especially, the way you dont use nams until the last part.

Associating Kakashi with lightning and storm and dogs just is natural... And I think youve pictured his character very well!

The ending is great, as well, even though its sad his parents ask for the shinobi to take him. But then, they probably only want the best for their son...

The last paragraph is awesome, but so is the entire story. Great job!

Wow...that was fantastic. A most worthy thought on where Kakashi might have come from, some other time, some other place.

I read this for the first time months ago, but it has been nagging me for a second read since then. So, after hours of scrolling through stories with the keywords "kakashi" and "storm", I finally found it and am so glad I did.

There are a couple of tiny punctuation errors, but this is still such a beautifully crafted piece and very creative. It's poignant enough that it stayed in my head for about a year, after all. Now, so this doesn't happen again, I'm going to add it to my Favorites.

Awesome. Of course, we now know that his father was a ninja, too...but I think this would have been a very fitting past for Kakashi as well. Part of me wishes that this WAS his past, and that you'd done the Kakashi Gaiden instead-or at least written it. I guess that just shows how much this piece of writing fascinates and intrigues me, as do all your fics.

Kakashi's mother was wonderful, mostly because I couldn't help sympathizing with her and hating her a little at the same time. With a son that excels at killing and death, I wouldn't be surprised that she'd be so glad to get rid of him...I do hope, however, that somewhere in her she was making the choice because she knew he'd do better in a world where Kakashi's talents were an asset. After all, in the shinobi world killing was a way of life.

The Yondaime was refreshing, not just an older Naruto but more what I think he actually must have been like. You could, however, see some of Naruto's quirks and whatnot shine through.

In conclusion, I love this.

Very good story! It's a different mood style altogether compared to other fics I've read. It definitely captured my attention from line one. And I'm proud to say that I guessed it was Kakashi before it ended! (I'm assuming the blonde-haired man is the Yondaime?)

This is one of my favorite Naruto stories, possibly because it fit so well the the characters involved. I have to admit, though, the Gaiden never sat well with me, since it essentially angstified a perfectly unangsty character...

But anyway, of all the really good things about this story, the atmosphere is the best. It's quiet, subdued, but knowing at the same time, and I really enjoyed it. Thanks for writing it.
