I assume that for the Brunch of Disgustingness, Dawn and Brick’s relationship will be like Bridgette and Geoff’s that episode. I also hope that no one will be voted out too.

Sorry I haven’t gotten around to reviewing this in a while! Anyway, I really liked this chapter!

I especially liked how the plot involving Dave and Ella was handled and Sky interacting with Dawn. It’s interesting and cool to see Dave take notice that Ella was crushing on him after she left the picnic, as was him briefly consoling the princess at the very end.

Zoey’s interactions with Sky and her talking through her love triangle situation was also interesting to read through, as was Jasmine confronting Dave and Shawn about Sammy and her interaction with Shawn not taking as ugly a turn as canon. If you couldn’t already tell, I loved how the interactions were handled this chapter!

Speaking of Sammy, my girl’s also making an awesome comeback this chapter, I see you! Very refreshing to see everyone now see how good a competitor she can be and seeing everyone now start to call her by her real name!

Kind of a shame to see Sam come just shy of the merge with all he’s done throughout, but I liked how he took his exit in stride, similar to that of Harold in canon (the other Brian Froud-voiced character)! I really liked how you were able to explore some of his lost potential in canon here!

Overall, I really enjoyed reading through this chapter, keep it up!

Good to see Ella Dave and Sky patch things up with each other about the love triangle and to see Sammy win the challenge although I didn't like Dave, Sky, and Shawn bad mouthing her like that when she wasn't there but at least Jasmine put them in their place for that. I had a feeling Sam was leaving here but hey he got 13th place much better then he anticipated and he'll get to spend more time with Dakota, I also question Sammy's decision to not inform Lightning about him being tricked by Amy into kissing her I mean I'm glad she's not upset with him but I was expecting her to inform him about it before telling Lightning she forgives because it was all Amy. I liked the reference to canon by having Trent and DJ bring the couches in for the 1st part of the challenge and due to being more athletic Sky avoids a serious injury like Trent did. Next up is the brunch of disgustingness and since it's a reward challenge since I don't know if you plan on bringing people back or not due to having 12 people in the game still Scott shouldn't want to throw the challenge since it won't benefit him in anyway and I'm guessing Brick will be the one to hold up the boys when they get the Dolphin wieners since I know Ella and Dawn will refuse for the girls.

Sam was my pick to go this week. Hope things get better for Ella. Next time, the merge starts.

Oh shit! Being predictable doesn't change how I find Sam's elimination here very disappointing. The guy was one challenge away from the merge and it's a damn shame when I was really hoping to see him get to that point or further. He ranks as one of my top 3 favorite TDROTI players along with Zoey and Mike (undecided on specific rankings between them). Like these two, the gamer is quite friendly, has a big heart, is willing to do what it takes to help his team and friends (including loved ones), strikes me as someone I could easily get along with in real life, and it was nice you explored more of his potential than either of his canon seasons did. I wish those took the guy further in the game. Oh well. At least you didn't have him screw up like Harold did when distracted by Heather accidentally losing her top. Coincidentally, both guys are voiced by Brian Froud.

It still was nice for Sam to score a win for the Gophers in "Phobia Factor" and do well when collecting the flags in this challenge, even if voted off here after they lost. As someone who also really enjoys video games, I can definitely relate to the character, and a major reason I hold him in high regard is for valuing people for who they are on the inside as demonstrated by lovingly accepting Dakota with open arms after she mutated (in contrast to what many others would've done). I personally didn't have an issue with our gaming nut competing in All-Stars as it gave him a chance to show he was still a worthy player (let's not forget how he scored his team's first victory in ROTI and came quite close to winning in both of the canon episodes that eliminated him), just wish the writers didn't boot this guy so early in the game. Some people sadly don't give him enough credit for his potential.

Sam deserves more love in competition fics, and there sadly are only three I've read so far that have him reach the merge. Believe or not, one of those somehow had our gaming enthusiast defeat Jo in the finals. That admittedly does sound far-fetched, especially when compared to fifth place out of thirteen in one story and third place out of fifteen in another after returning to the game following an earlier elimination, but it still was nice to see him shine in all of those submissions. Maybe he can go further in the next season if he qualifies for that (and I can definitely see potential with these cast members in a reimagining of TDA as it can help you avoid any character plotlines from the canon season that you didn't like). Either way, I'm eager to see where the guy stands with Ms. Milton in your fic.

Over on the Bass, I did like how Dave felt concern and took some time to console Ella after seeing how upset she was upon realizing her attraction to him isn't reciprocated. The princess does have my sympathy as I know from experience that it can hurt big time when one's affections are one-sided. At least they can continue to be friends and she got to kiss him in the paintball challenge. Good thing Shawn could patch things up with Jasmine as well and that they appear to be a couple now. Best wishes to Shasmine, especially when our zombie survivalist is my favorite TDPI player and the Australian comes in a close second.

Regarding my lengthy reviews, that most certainly isn't just for you; I've given those for other people as well when I have lots to say on a story/chapter. Some of my assessments are more detailed than others. Looking into subsequent chapters, I'm not sure how many of the contestant rankings you've decided on in advance or whether anybody will get eliminated in "Brunch of Disgustingness", but I regardless had a feeling there would be an even amount of males and females for our upcoming battle of the sexes to balance things out. This also is one of only two stories I've read where the win-to-loss ratio is perfectly even for a season at 6-6 (with 4-4 being what I saw in another story). It definitely helps your piece stand out from others. Every canon installment had one get a higher number of victories (even if only by one) with everybody getting at bare minimum two wins and two losses.

While I wouldn't have minded 5-7, I am glad you didn't have one team dominate pre-merge as that at some point would've felt absurd like it did TDA, TDWT, and TDROTI. Same would've gone for TDPI if its one tie had instead been a victory for the Bears, in contrast to how a win for the Salmon that day would've made things more balanced. That tie did however help shake things up by ending a winning streak. Back to your story, props for avoiding monotony with team victories.

And now we have finally reach the halfway point of the season. This episode is quite enjoyable, especially with the tension within the Dave-Ella-Sky love triangle. Sammy finally get some recognition from her teammates is much appreciated, as well as you did with some of the couples present. As for the next episode, I am interested to see if you're going to eliminate someone since the canon didn't have one. I've seen some people eliminate a contestant here, such as the Underdogs fanfic where the writer eliminated Geoff if memories serves me correctly, but I understand if you choose not to.

In answer to your question, yes, Scott is one of my favorite characters in Total Drama.
I like Sam quite a bit as well. I don’t think he’s winner material, but he’s a nice guy, and put in a respectable performance all things considered.

Ok, another good episode, you also made a good fusion. You were too nice with Sky and Brick not letting any of them crash on the ground. As always, I love how you fuse PI plots with your episodes, in this case, the picnic plot. And the conflict with Sky is quite well done. And the Zoey and Sky conversation was original. But the best part was Sammy winning the mud race because until Sam ended racing, it was not clear who would win. Poor Ella, I hope she can found happiness.

And about Sam, I think people are too harsh with him in AS. On the season, his role was a support character. He was there to show Mal first attempts to mess with other players, help in Courtney team swap, and being an early boot for the Hamsters. He could have a better plotline, of course, but for the cards they give him, he did a good job. Not everyone can be the main character in every season.
