I'm...heartbroken. I was really hoping it wouldn't come to this.I actually teared up reading this chapter because I still had hope that Sasuke could find redemption. Yes he had done some terrible things, but it was Itachi who had set him on that dark path a long time ago. It just seemed majorly unfair that now that his creation didn't turn out quite how he thought it would, Itachi found it inconvenient to let Sasuke continue to live. And the guy died never finding out the truth behind the Uchiha massacre. Hell, Sakura doesn't even know! But she does know that she only thought of the good tines with Sasuke, this throw-away of a human being after she had fatally wounded him. Sakura is once again proving just how young and immature she really is. And I wonder how Naruto would feel knowing that the friendship he was fighting so hard to save came to an abrupt end for the sake of the one that destroyed his teammate in the first place? I don't mean to sound cruel, I was just really hoping that things would end differently.

And punish her he did.

Well shit, Sakura! You mess with a bull, you get the horns! Seriously, why doesn't she realize that Itachi would do anything to keep her safe?

There is a massively petty and immature part of me that was so satisfied seeing Sasuke hurt by seeing Sakura with his brother :D And the rage he exhibited along with him still getting intimately close to his old teammate spoke volumes.

Little by little, the ice is melting :)

Kisame is definitely the "bait and wait" type, isn't he? He was probably finding all sorts of entertainment in answering Sakura's questions simply to spite Itachi in hopes that he'd finally blow up. XD

Success is the best form of revenge, and I sincerely hope that Sakura learns this soon. I know Sasuke's a dick, but why see him dead when you can see him thoroughly defeated? That's something he'd have to live with for the rest of his days.

Even though it was mentioned in the author's notes in the last chapter, I was still surprised by Kisame's appearance. It was a bit poetic though: the shark-man popping out of the sea of grass :) And I don't know how Sakura managed stay conscious while Itachi was touching her...

Thank you for writing from Itachi's POV as well :) It's interesting to see his thoughts on everything happening.

Given the title, I was prepared for angst. I wasn't, however, prepared for Lee being dead :'( Lots of feels in this chapter, but they made for a great start to this story :)
