And of course telling Snape how superior Harry is to everyone else is really going to make him think better of the boy. But of course Snape is always wrong, and Harry won't let all this (sometimes undeserved) praise go to his head...oh, wait, book 6...

Besides, it would be more to the point for Albus to admit that St. James and St. Lily weren't perfect. But we'll never hear *that* from him.

Actually, he lost Lily sometime before his fifth year-he should have realized it when he was nearly eaten by a werewolf and she took his attacker's side instead of caring if he was hurt or not.

But his illusions help him stay on the side of the Order, when any sane man in his position would flee the Wizarding World for Greenland.

Nicely done.

Love this story, I hate that Snape is hurting so much you really help the readers to empathise with him, and also you are doing really well at keeping all of the characters in character, there are a few minor details that are not consistent with the UK books at least but those are minor and most of them actually sound better the way you have them. A really great story I love it keep up the good work

Bella, I just wanted to jot off a quick note to let you know how much I am enjoying your writing! I have read the first 3 chapters you wrote and will finish up later this week. Lots of muggle stuff and a doc's appt. on Thursday. Anyway, I think your take on Snape is wonderful and of course, as a fan of flawed hero's, imperfect people, he is my favorite too. In my opinion, Gryffindor has more of a claim to Snape. As I am sure you remember, Dumbledore felt Hogwarts sorted too soon and I am positive he and I, and you too, felt he was a true Gryffindor and would have been placed there.

Whenever you would like to discuss the books more, let me know and perhaps we could find a time to do so. I love an intelligent discussion of the books and character. I think, unfortunately, Lav may not have read the books or if she did, fully understands, so cannot debate fairly. She debates from emotion, perhaps from a hurt of her own. Or perhaps, just very young:) Or, well, I have another theory which I won't go into that would make it impossible for her to view the love story impartially.

You got into POTTERMORE? Lucky git... Anyway, I've come to review this chapter not rant about my envy for you and your pottermoreness. I liked the exchange between Dumbledore. It was cool to see how Dumbledore had a way of pushing our favorite Slytherin's buttons. Perhaps it was even more amazing because in was in Snape's POV rather than Harry's through a pensive. And if I dare said that you write his POV of you well it would be the understand statement of the century. No just his POV but his actions, and how single curve of his lips and a twitch of an eyebrow can have such a big impact when it comes to Snape. I clap for you. Now, Let's see Snape make that purple turbaned terrorist you home! /fist-pump/

I loved this story. It should be sent to JKR. I think she would really enjoy it. It fits so well into the story of Severus Snape. Excellent job.

This is really good! I really enjoyed the flashback. Everything is well written and you have some great dialogue. The only person I find a little off is Dumbledore. I don't know why, but I just feel like he's missing something. I appreciate Snape more by reading this. It still gives him the mystery, but I like knowing that he does have feelings. I can't wait for more chapters to be added. You are a great writer!

Anyay... the review part of this review actaully begins right here with the witty opening and all the magic:

When I first see a chapter has been named after a song, Before I begin reading it, I go on youtube and look up the song. And listen to it along with the chapter, reading to the beats.

It made this chapter much more heart-wretching than it already was. Because no, I am one again scared of getting my key board wet with tears, thus breaking. (Somewhere Only We Know is my sap song, because I listened to when I left my middle school forever. Saddest day of life.)

"The playground seem to fade along with Lily." I know in your head, you're just waiting for someone to compliment on that, so I'm doing it here, because it really moved me with its awesomeness.

The flashback was well put together, but I always die inside when I see fluff like that, no matter how well written it is... because... I say things like... UGH! SEVEEERRRUUSS SNAPPE! SAY IT! SAY IT AGAN! TELL HER ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING! *calmer voice... Say it... Say it again... Say it everyday... Say differently...Tattoo it on your arm for God's sake.

I am aware I've saif this countlesstimes, but you're an amazing writer. One of the best o htis site full of fugly trolls. :) :) :)

I liked how you somehow kept Snape in character, and still conveyed emotion. I loved the chapter, the flashback is well written, unlike so many. I liked the thing about the violets, especially. I love Lily/James, but I hate how some authors make it seem as if James knew EVERYTHING about her. This is the one story where I may actually feel sorry for Snape, of all people. Scary, isn't it?
