THIS IS BEAUTIFUL! cried more than once and ended up having to confine myself to a room with a tub of ice cream. Luckily, no one was home then.
Animation Adventures chapter 28 . 9/25/2019
I've finally reached the end of your series. I liked it very much. It was very interesting to see how everything in the books played out from Haymitch's perspective. We know everything that happened to Katniss and Peeta in the arenas, but we don't know what was happening to the other tributes or what was going on outside of the arenas as the Games played out.

Before I read this series, I didn't really stop and think about what mentors do. I understood they got sponsors to give their tributes some help in the arena, but didn't think about much beyond that.

From the beginning of Haymitch's games to the end of this fic, I was very intrigued about how you were integrating this series into the canon books. I'd read something, and go 'that makes so much sense why this happened in the books' a lot of times. I knew Haymitch was clever, but you made him seem so much more. I greatly enjoyed seeing how some of the victors from the Quell won their Games, like how Wiress won hers and Finnick won his, and so on. The little subplots like Finch and Onnisey's team-up were fascinating to read, and explains how the mines were dug up and replanted. You did a lot of work, showing how the rebellion was working behind the scenes, and for that I give kudos to you.

Reading the books, I never saw a romantic angle between Haymitch and Effie, only getting an inkling of it through Effie's final scene in the fourth movie. It was interesting seeing that play out through this series. I knew Effie escorted the tributes to and from Games stuff, and never would've thought how much extra work she could do by Haymitch's side with setting up sponsor meetings and taking over tribute watch while he slept or was out doing stuff. Too bad about Digger, though. I think she and Effie could've been great friends. At least there's another Indigo Abernathy, whose tombstone hopefully won't be blown to rubble someday.

Great job, Fern, great job!

No treason here! Amazing chapter once again
Wanderlustatheart chapter 22 . 5/7/2019
Wow... you are actually trying to write how Panem is changing governments! It’s impressive! I always thought that the fact that the Hunger Games never mentionned any of the transitions from Snow to Coin to Paylor created a gape in the story. So thank you:)

Haymitch finally shared his past! Lovely
Wanderlustatheart chapter 10 . 5/2/2019
I’m just waiting for Haymitch to cry. I don’t want him to, but he’s lived such horrors that I can’t believe hasn’t cried yet.
Wanderlustatheart chapter 9 . 5/2/2019

Wanderlustatheart chapter 6 . 5/2/2019
I wonder why Katniss was wearing a smug expression... Also I love when Haymitch says « I want my kids »
Wanderlustatheart chapter 3 . 4/30/2019
I love how you explain that Katniss needed to be blamed. She needs to feel like she could have changed something about Peeta’s situation. I also found it very good from you to expose how important Peeta was to Katniss and Haymitch’s relationship. You have the most amazing writting style!
Wanderlustatheart chapter 2 . 4/30/2019
I love Katniss&Haymitch’s relationship

Hello, I recently started reading Hunger Games FF and came upon your series. I really found this to be a fascinating take. I couldn’t put them down
and; read them in every spare moment I had. I really loved that you gave such a peek into what was going on from such a central view. Great Job.
Paul chapter 13 . 8/11/2017
I've commented before on Etta bossards absence when the district 9 victors have been mentioned in this chapter before. One thing that occurs to me is that maybe Etta didn't have much to do with them and wasn't quite as hated. She came about a decade after Thelma and darla, so she might have had enough time to soak in that suspicion that they were Capitol lacking who's games were rigged like the rest of the district did. Of course, they might have thought the same of her, but maybe seeking her keep a distance from the others might have made a difference. Addmitedly, a lot of this is probably far fetched, and the only real evidence for it is Etta's lack of mention when Plutarch describes how nine hated their victors and how she apparently fought and died in the viewing center massacere while will and darla stayed out of it. Assuming any of this speculation about Etta is true, it would have made the citizens of nine even made, seeing who they viewed as their only decent Victor dying fighting peacekeepers, along with the likes of known rebels like Harris greaves, haymitch Abernathy and jack Anderson while the unpopular Will and darla survived by Staying out of things as Etta and so many others died.
