A/N: This prompt was given to me by both greenfairy13 and DeanxCastiel! It's rated a light T and is pretty fluffy - so beware! :)

Puppy - a young dog, especially one less than a year old.

Tentoo/Rose

The first thing Rose Tyler noticed was the mud by the front door. Then, it was the fact that the front door was open and swinging slightly, allowing a harsh cold wind inside the large flat.

Rose shut the door swiftly and spun around on her heels. "Doctor?" she called, noting the trail of mud that led away from the front door and far down the carpeted hallway. Rose ducked over to a nearby cabinet and quickly scrambled through it for a gun that she kept there. Working at Torchwood, you could never be too careful. She held the gun tight in one hand and rounded the corner of the hall, following the trail.

The bathroom light was on and the door was shut. "Doctor?" she asked once again.

"Rose!" came his cheery reply from within the bathroom.

Rose let out a sigh and flicked on the safety of the gun. Then, she tugged it into the waistband of her white shorts. "You scared me," Rose complained, approaching the bathroom.

"Wait! Don't come in!" the Doctor said, and she heard movement.

Rose frowned but did as he asked, folding her arms across her chest. A moment later he emerged from the bathroom, covered from head to toe in mud, water, and what looked to be some sort of shampoo. There was a particularly large streak of bubbles that was slanted across his face from one sideburn to his chin. He looked utterly ridiculous. He was wearing his striped pajamas that Rose had picked out when he had first come to the parallel world to live with her. God, she loved those pajamas.

His hair was even more tousled than usual, a mixture of sleep and whatever else he had been doing. His feet were bare and he was wiggling his toes as he rocked back on his heels, burying his dripping wet hands in his pockets. He grinned toothily at her, lines around his eyes crinkling. "Hello!"

Rose raised an eyebrow. "What are you doing in there? Why is there mud all over the house?"

Then, she heard a noise. It sounded a bit like a whimper. The Doctor coughed loudly in a lame attempt to cover it. "Nothing. Impromptu shower. I'd ask you to join me, but well… Uh…" The Doctor stared at the ceiling, as if praying it would provide him with a good excuse. "I'm in a hurry. That's right! Quite the rush. Gotta get to Torchwood. Jake texted me. On my mobile phone!"

Rose rolled her eyes and attempted to step around him to get into the bathroom. He stood obstinately in her path. "Doctor, what is in the bathroom?"

"Nothing!" His voice was high and squeaky. It always did that when he lied – she had always assumed it was something he had gotten from Donna.

"That's your lying voice," she accused. "Have you got an alien in there or something?"

"I… Yes! A very gross alien! Gross and icky! You wouldn't like it at all. And it's very dangerous to humans. Stay away! I'll get rid of it," he nodded confidently and was about to step back into the bathroom and shut the door behind him when Rose grabbed his arm.

She yanked him away from the door and stepped inside the bathroom, noting that the floor and wall had mud splattered across them in random streaks. But it was the bathtub that really caught her attention. There was something moving about inside the white porcelain.

When she leaned over the tub and looked inside, she saw a small brown puppy covered in mud playing in the water. "A dog?" she said, putting her hands on her hips and turning around to the Doctor.

He shrugged innocently. "He was scratching at our door. Can we keep him?"

She gave him a look before turning around to give the puppy a better look. There was shampoo covering some of his matted fur and the bottom of the tub was filled with water. Several muddy towels sat nearby, and the puppy was staring up at her with large, expectant eyes.

He was rather adorable. His short tail was wagging back at forth while he looked at Rose. "How did he ever get to our door? Did he have a collar on?" she asked.

"Nope," the Doctor replied, popping the 'p'. "Just showed up like this. I started to give him a bath but he got me a tad bit messy.

Rose made a point of looking up and down the Doctor's completely ruined pajamas once again. "Just a bit." Then, she noticed an open bottle lying on the floor near the tub. "You used my shampoo?"

The Doctor blushed bright pink and averted his eyes from hers. "Did I? Hadn't noticed."

"Why wouldn't you use your shampoo?" she complained, reaching out a hand for the puppy to sniff.

"I'm almost out of it," he explained.

Rose picked up her shampoo bottle on the floor. "Doctor, this is empty now."

"Really?" he said in a tone that made her question whether or not he had already known it was empty. There was a small pause. "Rose, can we please keep the puppy?"

She looked at her boyfriend – if that was the right word for whatever the Doctor was to her – and felt her heart crack and shatter in her chest. He was using his trademark doe eyes, and Rose felt like they were drilling into her own. His lower lip was extended slightly and his hands were clasped on hers tightly.

"Doctor…" her voice trailed off at the look of hurt on his face when he realized she was going to say no. "Sure, we can keep the puppy."

His face lit up in a flash and he bounded towards the bathtub. "Hear that, Rocco? You get to stay with us now! Yeah, that's right!" The Doctor rubbed the dog's head contentedly and the dog wagged his tail faster, seemingly understanding the man's excitement.

"But," Rose said, putting all the emphasis she could on the word, "if he tears up our flat…"

"I know! I won't let him!" the Doctor said eagerly, reminding her of a small child. "I'll walk him and feed him and give him water and play with him. I promise."

The dog, Rocco as the Doctor had called him, tapped his foot while the Time Lord kneeling beside the bathtub scratched him behind his floppy ear. "He's adorable," Rose noted happily.

The Doctor made a humming noise of agreement before he and Rose finished washing up Rocco. They put out some spare chicken from the fridge along with some water, and then looked themselves up and down. They were both completely coated in mud, shampoo, and water.

Rose grinned brightly. "Still up for that shower?"

"Absolutely." He wiggled his fingers and she grabbed his hand, allowing him to lead her quickly down the hall. Hopefully the dog wouldn't make too big of a mess while they showered.

As the Doctor unbuttoned his white pajama top, he blinked up at Rose. "Rose, can I ask you something?"

"Mmm?"

"Did you ever consider having kids?"
