Dont take this the wrong way but for me it has lost all of its flavor. Maybe I need to read from chapter one and regain my previous excitement... idk, I'll do that. You can delete my comment if it offends you, but know that wasnt my intention as I wish to be very into it again.

-slowly nods- Oh no, no offense taken. Criticism is most welcome. I can certainly understand that the writing at the moment, due to where we are in the story, would make the plot seem very mellow and almost stale in some places. Where we are in the story currently is a calm before things start to move faster. As it stands, I'm just establishing ties and ground between the characters, fleshing out the world so to speak. But never fear! Things will certainly be heating up soon. I hope you do reread and regain any lost interest, I look forward to catching your interest once more. :) Until then! Hokay - Review time!

I have reviewed before, but as a guest over at AO3. So, here, I can actually log in and review! Joy!

To work: No concrete concrit (heheh fun phrase), but I felt this chapter was a bit... padded? Like I felt you made it longer, perhaps out of a misplaced sense of responsibility (because we'll wait, for good stuff, like yours) than the actual plot called for? Or maybe not, perhaps I'm just seeing things and it's exactly as long as you want it to be - which is fine and dandy, no blood, no foul.

I liked it, fun chapter. I can't believe - what with the tool-belt while apartment hunting, and the dual majors - that it took Law this long to realize Kid liked fixing things? Or, perhaps, being "hands-on" is what I mean.

Undoubtedly, he was distracted by Kid's sexy. Very understandable.

My favorite bit was him running the "Look at me so se... gulp... no underwear..."

It just so happens that this story has a special place in my heart that even if I don't hear from it for a while I still get into it easily! I loved the pool scene a lot, just the image of these two being topless together and having their bodies touch really was amazing and made me fangirl. Seriously. Gawd.

I find myself laughing at law's thoughts a lot, like when baby 5 dressed kid in the red shirt, love your law a lot. And your kid. And everything and everyone and yessss I was waiting for the topic of repairing cars to come up! Finally kid can impress ;w; again law's thoughts there were hilarious, he would trash cars just to have kid repair them? He's crazy :P I love him. And I love you dear author. I hope you continue to have at least half the fun writing the story as I have reading it.

When Kid finally emerged from his self-made nest of blankets, he sat up and look around his apartment, blurrily rubbing his eyes, he felt like he should remember something but slowly laid back down; a slight headache said it wasn't time to get up yet.

But the idea of going back to sleep was shot to hell at the sound of banging at his door.

Kid groaned and burrowed deeper in the blankets in hopes that whoever it was would go away.

He was right and the banging did eventually stop. He sighed happily and made to get comfortable again.

However, instead of going back to sleep, the hung over redhead yelped when his blankets were yanked from him, causing him to fall to the floor.

"Rise and shine, sleeping lover boy!" Kid glared up at the person above him, he couldn't really see yet but knew who it was and wondered how the hell she got in. Had he left the door unlocked out of habit last nigh-?

Last night.

Kid stiffened and rubbed his eyes roughly to look up at his landlady, then quickly stood in spite of his now raging headache to look around.

'Was it just a dream...?' He wasn't able to think on it for very long, as a water bottle was thrown at his head; still half asleep, he barely managed to catch it before it would have smacked him in the face.

"Tall, dark, handsome and tattooed left this morning. Here." Kureha held out a handwritten note for him to read while she downed the contents of a bottle of what looked like expensive rum.

He took the note from her and read it with a frown, which quickly turned into a very flushed expression.

Eustass-ya, I had some business that required my attention. So, to my regret, I couldn't be here to see you wake up; no doubt your expression would have been as adorable as your sleeping face is. I had a wonderful time last night and I hope to see you again soon.

The old woman cackled at Kid's reddened face.

"A smooth one you got yourself there. Polite, good looking, smart, rich and crazy about you. That's not an easy combination to find. I'd hold onto that one if I were you. Heh, if I were a bit younger and swung that way, I'd be all over that!" Another cackle at the deepening color of the young man's face. "Careful, your face will match your hair at this rate~"

Kid grumbled and opened the water bottle before taking a drink from it, the contents being almost room temperature now. Trafalgar must have laid it out for him before leaving.

He groaned as he began to notice his pounding headache once again, and rubbed the bridge of his nose.

"Hangover, huh? Figured. The way you two came in last night made it seem like you had been out for quite a while, and not drinking fruit juice from the looks of it. Have any 'fun', eh?" The witch just grinned when Kid just flipped her off. "Anyway, here ya go."

The redhead suddenly had something shoved up his nose, then he almost hacked up a lung when some kind of spray was squirted into his nostril. He sneezed and coughed until he almost fell over. He was pushed onto the couch and stayed there until it all stopped.

"What the fuck was that?! Are you trying to kill me?!" The pissed off tenant snapped at the nonplussed landlady when all she did was laugh at him.

"I give you some of my personal hangover cure and this is the thanks I get. Next time I'll raise your rent, ya brat," the retired doctor snorted. "Feeling better though, aren't ya?"

Kid opened his mouth to issue a vehement denial, only to pause when he actually thought about the question.

"My headache's gone..."

"Damn right it is. Now get your ass up and make lunch to pay me back, I'm starving." Kureha walked off to the kitchen like she owned the place. Which she kind of did, but that wasn't the point.

Kid grumbled as he got up, but he wasn't really willing to complain too much. He was just lucky that she liked his cooking enough to take that as payment instead of one of his kidneys and half of his life savings. He had personally met loan sharks who had more of a conscience than the hag.

He made a stop at his bedroom to run a brush through his hair, put a headband on to keep his bangs out of the way, and wash his face of last night's make up. Then he changed pants and put on a shirt that was comfortable and loose enough to hang off one shoulder before padding into the kitchen.

Doctorine raised a single eyebrow from where she sat at the bar but said nothing. Kid looked through his cabinets and fridge to see what he could make, then settled on some seasoned omelets with leftover steak and some cheddar as filling.

"So, how's Chopper doing? You said he was taking this coming semester off to do some volunteer work." Kid got a pan out to dump the steak in and reheat it in the oven, then got a bowl and whisk to prepare the egg mix; the little sounds of egg shells breaking were the only noise for a moment, followed by soft sounds of seasonings being added to it.

Chopper was Doctorine's adopted son, as she had taken over guardianship after an old friend had died, and was currently mowing his way through medical school like it was nothing.

But then, if Kid had been raised by someone with as much medical experience as a hundred doctors who was also nothing short of a slave driver he imagined he would be pretty damn good too. The redhead suspected that the 'pre-teen's' lessons had been mostly a sink or swim situation.

A sink or swim situation while being strapped inside a meatsuit in a lake full of sharks with two tons tied to your ankles and a cackling witch's foot holding you underwater.

The boy had his sympathy and that wasn't something just anyone could say.

"Yeah." The old woman swallowed the last bit of rum in the bottle before setting it aside. "Finally managed to convince him to slow down, those friends of his are a good influence on him. I'm more than satisfied with how he's doing academically; while being a prodigy is all well and good, it can also play hell with your overall social life, which a lot of people tend to forget is just as important as anything else."

Kid frowned for a moment, memories of last night and Trafalgar's words about being considered a prodigy came to mind. He wondered how much graduating so young had affected his life. It would explain a lot about most of his behavior if he had never learned to really make deep connections as a child. The relationships people have when they were young often affect the ones they have as adults.

"...That's good. He has plenty of time to be an adult, he should enjoy the time he has left to be a kid." The soon to be college student knew exactly how precious the little time people had to be young and unburdened was. There had been very few times in his life when he wasn't worried about something.

A few minutes later, there were two large plates heaped with omelets in front of them, silverware and a little bowl of extra shredded cheese next to them. Kid pulled up a chair to sit at the bar across from the old woman, cutting into his food and then waiting for it to cool.

The heat didn't stop the retired doctor from digging in, making pleased sounds at the taste. "Seriously, just ditch business and engineering, and go to a culinary school. You'll be rich in no time."

Kid just snorted, both of them knowing he wouldn't. "Next you'll graciously offer me a loan to open up my own restaurant and then I'll be in debt up to my ears for the rest of my life. No thanks."

The two continued to trade barbs and talk about how things were going in their personal lives, mostly things concerning Kid's friends and Doctorine's adopted son. Before long, the food was gone and the hag was making off with a bottle of liquor from his fridge, and was about to walk out the door.

"Oh! Almost forgot!" Kureha turned back around and pulled something out of her jacket to throw to him.

Kid caught it but then just stared down at the hot pack in confusion. "What's this for?"

The dirty grin that split her face in half made him regret he had asked. "For your ass."

The door slammed shut too quickly, so the hot pack bounced off of it harmlessly.

"WITCH!"
