Chapter 21

While Percy and Nico argued furiously about Percy's possible relation to Harry, Thalia took it upon herself to explain the current situation quite more thoroughly. It didn't help that her punk rock look very much intimidated three younger students, who shrank back into their seats when she turned to address them all.

"So, while those two idiots over there argue like five year olds," she glared pointedly at them. "I have taken upon myself the most tiring, complicated job in three house. Explaining mythology to a bunch of narrow-minded magicals."

Percy and Nico's argument grew more heated until it was eventually a full out shouting match. Thalia, who was only beginning to get her audience to understand, tensed, whirled around and narrowed her eyes dangerously at the pair.

"Would you two," she hissed. "Ever SHUT UP!"

Every student up to seventh year flinched at the pure venom in her voice.

Percy and Nico started, and indeed did they shut up. They turned around cautiously to face her, neither boy daring to meet her electric blue eyes.

"Now that's taken care of," she turned back to the terrified students. "I hope nobody else will care to interrupt..." Her intimidation level was turned up to maximum. She smiled sweetly. "Good." She turned back to the boys, who were shuffling around awkwardly. "Percy, are we gonna be... uh, Sorted, or what?"

The teachers, who had so far only observed in a stunned silence, took this as a chance to intervene. McGonagall stood up, and adressed Thalia. "Excuse me, Ms...?" Thalia glared at her. "It's only Thalia." McGonagall look highly affronted. "Ms Thalia, you cannot speak to a teacher like that! Detention.

Thalia examined her nails, looking bored. "You're not my teacher. You're Percy's. Me and Death Breath are just here to observe.

Meanwhile, Percy and Nico were giggling {Yes, giggling} insanely as they whispered to each other again.

Percy suddenly remembered his golden egg when Nico began whining about how it wasn't fair how he could raise the dead but not summon gold or jewels. "Quit whining, Nick. That kinda reminds me, I forgot to open that golden egg thingy I got in the First Task! I'll go get it."

Gryffindor and Hufflepuff rapidly paled as they remembered the blood curdling shrieks that had came out of the egg when their champions had opened them in their respective common rooms. About fifteen minutes later, the Great Hall doors swung open, to reveal a rather ruffled looking Percy.

"Got it!" Yelled Percy happily. He jogged down the aisle over to Nico and Thalia who looked at the egg curiously. He carelessly screwed open the valve at the top, and pried open the side. A horrible, shrieking noise emitted from the centre, and Nico and Thalia yelled and clutched their ears in pain. The students eyes were screwed up while they hastily covered their ears. But Percy just stood listening, head cocked to the side with a puzzled expression on his tanned face. The shrieking abruptly shut off, and everyone gingerly removed their hands from their aching ears.

Percy started pacing and muttering. "Seek us where our voices sound... cannot sing above the ground..." Thalia put a shaking hand on his shoulder. "Erm... Percy? Are you deaf, or something? Did you not hear that horrible noise?"

Percy looked over at her, eyebrow raised. "Noise? What are you talking about?"

Nico stared at him, gaping. "Are you seriously saying you-you didn't hear that?" Percy began to look rather concerned. "Nico? Dude, are you OK? That was quite clearly singing."
