A/N: I had said I'd be better about updating this time, but it seems I have failed. Hopefully I'll get this story done by the time school starts.

Also, I apologize for the shortness of this chapter.

EDIT: I apologize for my not realizing I had not explained what song. I'm using a rock cover of Where Have You Been? by Cruskin on youtube, originally by Rihana. I did not include lyrics as that is against the rules, and I found the way I had done it in my previous edition quite drawling and it broke up the story too much. While this is a song fic, I will include as much as I can, in ways that hopefully don't jar too much.

With bubblegum-pink hair, missing the girl seated far below him seems impossible to Ikuto. That is not even mentioning the fluorescent color of guitar case, but having frequented the club quite often, guitars are nothing special, not to Ikuto. Sometimes, he finds very few things interesting to him, a chronic condition, according to Utau.

He'd shrug and brush her off as he often did, with his acceptance that no, not much interested him.

On a list of said interesting things, he finds strange pink-haired girls very high. Two or three, surely, ranked after cats and his penchant of bothering his childhood friend Tadase.

The distinct sounds of the girl tuning her guitar floats up to Ikuto's perch, the solitary window only accessible by the industrial-looking beams along the back wall (Ikuto knows for a fact they are just for show). It is his favorite spot when Utau drags him off to this place, able to get fresh air, but still keep an eye on her so she doesn't try flirting with too many guys.

But he ignores his primal big-brother urge to protect in favor of leaning just a little more out the window in an attempt to peek around the girl's hat, more than interested by her sudden appearance; he hadn't seen her go in, nor out once again until she was on the phone with someone. Again, she is hard to miss, but somehow, he'd managed it.

He watches with his lips pressed into a firm line as the girl gets back to her feet to return to the club, quickly looking over the other side of the window to keep her in his sights. She moves through the crowd with a practiced ease that leaves Ikuto with a prick of curiosity, even taking to the stage as if she belonged there. Tadase does not stop her, and the band does not seem surprised, causing Ikuto to swing his legs back over the windowsill to face the stage, curiosity only growing.

The lead singer of the band whom he had never taken the time to learn the name of steps to the mike, seeming to announce the girl, but Ikuto isn't paying attention, entrapt by her eyes that look in his direction. He knows she doesn't see him, her eyes are too unfocused for that, but he still feels as if her gaze is piercing him. It's strange, he thinks, that as if her hair is not strange enough, her eyes challenge the pink with honey and licorice irises.

He earns a twinge of annoyance for the thought that the shade is all too similar to Tadase's hair.

Ikuto quickly blinks to concentrate once again, the girl moving to the standing mic to replace the band's vocalist. Realizing he'd missed her name, Ikuto huffs poutily, almost convincing himself to leave and forget about her interest in her.

But then she breathes into the mic and Ikuto feels himself rooted to the spot. Despite reading from the sheet music before them, the band follows without hesitation, riding on the wave of confidence that the girl seems to be exuding. Her voice isn't even anything special compared the women Ikuto has worked with in the past, but the fact that she was not as soprano as he had believed piqus his already growing interest in ways he did not believe possible.

He forgets to keep an eye on his sister as the song builds in speed and energy, ignoring the easily-excited crowd to watch his new object of perusal, the way her lips morph around her words, the way her eyes close as if keeping a secret. He watches the sweat bead on her forehead and slip into her bangs, watches her fingers twitch over the strings of her guitar. Truly a sight to behold, he decides.

"I've been everywhere, man, lookin; for you, babe, searchin' for you babe." If Utau looks at him knowingly when he finally drops from his perch, Ikuto denies it.
