Ward kept his eyes on his Rookie as he entered their hideout. Pulling off his snow cap and gloves, he was surprised that his hands were shaking. Sure he was cold after walking 3 miles in the snow covered mountain. But he was actually nervous about facing Skye. After their kiss and what had happened after, he was not the same man anymore.

All he knows is that what he feels for her is genuine. And deep down, he will do everything to protect her and keep her safe. Even if it means giving up his own life. No matter where his loyalty should be.

Standing with her hands in her back pockets, her smile didn't waver one bit since she saw him standing tall as the door opened slowly. She waited until he stood a foot from her before letting out her greeting.

"Hey."

"Hey." Ward replied as his eyes took in her features.

"Welcome back."

"That's it?" Ward was taken aback at her formal greeting. "What? No hugs?"

"I didn't think you are the hugging kind," she shrugged. "All you ever gave me was one pat on my back, since I met you."

"When was this?"

"When I made Agent. And you know what?"

"What?"

"It's sad that you don't even remember that one friendly moment that we shared."

"That's probably because I have been distracted by the too many so-called friendly moments that we shared during training and missions." Ward looked down at her and smirked. "Especially the one in the utility closet when I asked you out on a date."

Skye was surprised by his answer. She kept her ground, her hands never leaving her back pockets. Only her eyes and lips showed her emotions. After the months of being with her, Ward knew that it was a sign of mischief.

"So," Ward leaned towards her and whispered. "How about a hug?"

"I'll give you your hug if you give me a kiss. Right here, right now."

"I left you for two days and you learn to negotiate?"

"I was bored." Skye replied with a smile spiraling our of her cheeky face.

"Are you trying to torture me, Rookie?"

"You said it's fun."

"You know that Coulson will kick my ass off the team if we were to ever get involve, right?"

"Crappy fraternization protocol. I know."

"And you don't give a damn about those."

"Yup. Plus, I know something else."

"What?"

Skye took a step towards him as she pulled hands out of her pockets to press the tips of her fingers to his chest. She tiptoed to whisper in his ear.

"I know how to disable the surveillance cameras."

Ward shared her conspiratorial smile.

"So, if I kiss you now, you'll give me your hug?"

"Unless you want a hot mug of coffee, first. To warm you up."

"With you, I'm beyond warm, Skye."
