Time for another episode of "Vincent climbing blocks while thinking about his love life"!

Enjoy!

~Goldie

If any sheep climbing the tower at that moment were to watch Vincent climb, they'd think he was a man on a mission. Row after row, he soared upward, never hesitating and never looking down. If they were to look a little closer, they'd see him with a smile on his face, despite the nightmarish situation he and the others were in.

Vincent had reason to smile. The demon in the booth was considering it!

Considering dating him!

Well, the other worded it as being "courted" by Vincent, which seemed a little old school. But if that's what his confessional-booth crush wanted to call it, who was he to change that?

It was a strange situation for him to be in, because Vincent wasn't even sure they could legitimately date... but what he knew was this: in the dream world, anything was possible- even flirting with and romancing a (very attractive) disembodied voice.

There were a lot of specifics to get into, seeing as how Vincent hasn't ever dated a demon. However, the demon in question must understand more than Vincent did at that moment. So the brunet decided that the little details were something for the other to mull over while he sat in the confession booth. Besides, right now what Vincent needed to do was focus on scaling the perilous stone blocks set as a path above him.

'Maybe he's up there right now, thinking about me.' Vincent's confident grin went sheepish. He couldn't help thinking about the stubborn and puzzling man in the booth. 'He likes me and he's thinking about me. God, I feel like I'm back in school, all lovey and shit. It's nice though... it's been a while since I've fallen this hard.'

Vincent looks over his shoulder toward the bottomless pit. His brain supplies a joke about "falling hard" down the tower, but his spirit was too high to be brought down with morbid humor typical of being in a stressful situation. Vincent pushed a spiked trap block off the edge of the tower, and began pulling out the block that had been hidden, when a thought struck Vincent's mind.

His smile faltered around the edges.

'Of course, I gotta be ready in case he turns me down...'

As it had many times before, the tower shook. Vincent braced himself and clung to the closest block until the tremors stopped. Then once it stopped, the hero sighed, tucking his pillow underneath his arm as he lifted himself up a block staircase. '...isn't a "no" the most likely answer? Because sure, maybe I'm into him and the feeling is mutual, but wouldn't having a relationship with a dream demon be kinda difficult?'

Vincent wasn't too sure what lengths he'd have to go to in order to date the mysterious man. It seemed like there would be a lot of roadblocks in the way. And Vince totally understands if the other doesn't want to go through...whatever trouble there may be when attempting to cultivate a relationship with a..."mortal". Does the demon in the booth have like, demon bosses that he has to take orders from?

Shaking his head, Vincent then decided that because he was thinking worst-case scenario, he was going to think best-case from now on, for the rest of the climb to the top.

'What if the booth guy already has a physical form?' He could be out in the world right now- sleeping, just like Vincent is. Or maybe he could make a physical form. Like, couldn't Greek Gods do that? Actually…the guy is a demon, right? Would he have to possess somebody to have a physical form? That's sort of like robbing the original person's life though, huh... And Vincent wouldn't want to do something like that just so he could date. Would it be weird to share his body- in the most literal way possible- with the man in the booth? They've only known each other for a short while. That would be a big risk to take, the consequences of which Vincent didn't care to think about right now. On the other hand, Vince can already visualize people giving him weird looks because they'd think he's talking to himself. Which would be completely false; he'd be talking to his mysterious demon boyfriend inside his head. Vincent snorted, amused at the silly thought.

And, in the chance that the confessional-booth guy can't come to Vincent's world, maybe they could still see each other in Vincent's dreams? That'd be the most bizarre long-distance relationship ever known to man...

After what seemed like both an eternity and an instant, the boxer-wearing hero found himself standing at the top of the perilous ivory-colored tower. The rope dangled before him, and Vincent reached out to it. As fingers met the silky strands of the tassel, his stomach churned and smile faded. Well.

This was it.

Finally pulling on the braided red rope, Vincent mentally prepared himself for what whatever was to come.
