A/N: *clears throat* *shuffles papers*

Hello and welcome back to, uuuuh, a new chapter?

Warning: dead bodies (again), blood, organ talk and mystery. oooooh~

Marceline was not prepared to find Charlie, bloody mouthed and gasping, at her door. The poor girl charged into the living room, pointed a finger at Lucy and then at her mouth.

"Cupid?" Charlie groaned. "What… what happened my poor child?" Marceline watched carefully as her mother cradled the ex-angels face in her hands, worried eyes searching a rather distressed face. "Where is your necklace?"

A shrug from Charlie.

"I'll make you a new one, don't worry. Marceline can you go and fetch me a drink of water?"

"N-N-N-" Marceline sighed, pulling Charlie away from her mother to sit her down in front of her.

"Bad news. Jo is after you, she's working with the master and my mother won't tell me how she knows him." Charlie rolled her eyes and pointed to her tongue with a 'you don't say' look on her face.

"Oh. This was… her fault?" Another shrug. "Damn. Can we fix this?" then Charlie did something that Marceline had never seen her do in the short time they had known each other. She used magic with her left hand, a rather unstable ball of white and pink, which she gestured at with her right hand.

"Jo can do magic?" Charlie shook her head. "It's magic?" finally, a nod. "Do you know how to fix this?" a weird kissing sound that made her splutter blood onto the other girl's shirt. Marceline sighed. "Is it Emmett?" Another shake of the girl's head and Marceline turned back around to face her mother.

"We are returning to this conversation later, mother." Lucy smirked at her daughter and left the room, disappearing into thin air as she walked into the kitchen. Marceline blinked.

You're all so close. I might tear up a little.

Screw you.

Aw, and here I was thinking that being in your brain would-

Charlie's orb was back and unfortunately for Marceline; it had been slammed into the back of her head. Cupid spat out a mouthful of blood, removed her hand and turned to face a tall shadowy figure so she could flip it off.

"What the hell was that for?" Marceline shrieked before turning around, eyes widening when she saw they had company.

"Oh Charlie… Charlie, Charlie, Charlie. You asked me to recruit you for so long and now look at you… you're part of the rebellion." Marceline's head throbbed as the figure spoke.

"What the hell are you?" She mumbled. "First you look like Jo and now you look like… I don't even know who you're supposed to be." Charlie span round, wide eyed and slightly concerned.

"I'm right in front of you… and you don't even know what I am? Or who?" it clicked in her head the instant he began to laugh. Marceline lunged forward to try to grab him, but the shadowy figure shifted and then he was gone, leaving only a small ball of darkness where he once was.

Charlie sighed almost sympathetically and leaned down to press her palm against it, her magic spreading around it almost caressingly. Marceline didn't understand until the ball slowly began to unfold into two arms and two legs, a head topped with short hair brown that was curled ever so slightly. He had left behind Jo.

The girl whimpered as Charlie removed her hand to let the magic do the rest of her job. Cupid smiled slightly before standing and staring up at Marceline.

Take care of her for me. I need her when she wakes up. I need to find Emmett. Then the ex-angel disappeared too.

Jo awoke with a quiet sigh and a throbbing in the very centre of her brain. Her muscles ached and her bones cracked as she sat up from her position on the bed that Marceline had made for her. Her only memories of what had happened were those filled with shadows and The Master standing with his back to her. When he left, she must have reverted to her original form but if that was so then who brought her back?

She stood up off the bed with unsteady feet, padding her way down the hall to the stairs in bare feet. Her clothes were definitely borrowed; the sweatpants were too long and the shirt was far too baggy, but she appreciated the sentiment and found the kitchen.

Marceline was cradling a cup of what looked to be coffee in her right hand while her other was flicking through the pages in the newspaper. She glanced up when Jo shuffled closer.

"Oh, you're awake." The girl nodded and her hair fell into her eyes. She made no move to brush it away and peered at the other demon through a shield of brown.

"Did Cupid leave already?" Jo asked simply, glancing around the place with utmost curiosity. Marceline frowned and furrowed he brow but said nothing in reply. "I did not mean to alarm you the other day. In the alleyway, I mean. My form is… hungry for something. I'm still not sure what." Marceline sighed quietly at the Demons light, airy voice and placed her cup down.

"Charlie left to go find Emmett and… we have food. You want ice-cream or something?" Jo tilted her head, blue eyes following Marceline's pointed finger to the freezer. She gave a shrug and nodded once more. "Cool. Oh, by the way, I'm having company later so if you want to stay upstairs that's totally alright with me."

Marceline busied herself with grabbing the tub of vanilla ice cream she had brought for herself and Bonnibel, and grabbed the other Being a spoon.

"Here you go, don't eat it too fast or you'll end up with brain freeze. I'll be back in a bit."

Jo watched Marceline go upstairs and simply sat there, the tub on her lap and the spoon in her hand.

"Ahriman?" Jo called. "How do I eat this?"

"What?" Marceline called back. "Oh, right, yeah. You're uh, new to this."

"Apparently so," Jo agreed, smiling when Marceline came back downstairs.

"Here, let me take the lid off for you."

Ice Cream has a lid. Jo thought to herself, watching as Marceline opened up the tub.

"Use the spoon to scoop I guess," Marceline explained, gathering the ice cream on the end of the spoon for Jo. She held it out for her to take, but found that Jo expected her to feed her. Babysitting, just great. "Open your mouth, then." Jo did as she was told and Marceline fed her spoonful after spoonful of the frozen treat.

Then there was a knock at the door.

"Come in!" Marceline called, too busy with trying to get Jo to hold the spoon herself. "I kind of have to babysit, sorry, babe."

"Yeah, I'm not Bonnie. But I'm now concerned about what you're planning to do later if your girlfriend comes home with a dead body all the time."

Marceline blinked. "What the fuck."

"Not my fault," Charlie defended herself. "Your mother needs a human heart to make my necklace."

"B-But, that's Emmett."
