AN: This might be a bit choppy because I'm rusty as hell at this.

Obi-wan paced back and forth in the now empty Council chambers as he waited for the young padawan to arrive. He had a spare finger stroking his beard as he played back every single conversation he had with the Chancellor. How had he not known? Everything that had been told to the Council to get their support was a lie, a big charade that masked the underlying meaning. He felt betrayed but what pained him the most was the effect that this War had lost so many lives, Jedi and citizen.

"Master Obi-wan?" A soft voice said from the doorway. He brought his eyes up and saw Ahsoka standing in the doorway, a worried look painted her Togruta face. He must have not hidden his force signature well enough because it seemed she sensed his worry.

"Take a seat Padawan Tano" he said motioning to the empty chair. She obliged and sat down across from him.

"Today it was made known that the Sith have returned. The Chancellor..." Obi-wan continued, his words starting to taste sour in his mouth "Chancellor Palpatine is the Sith Lord."

Ahsoka responded by bringing a hand to her mouth to hold in the breath that seemed to have escape as fast as she brought it in.

"How do we know?" She asked trying to stay skeptical but knowing Obi-Wan he wasn't the one to take Jedi matters lightly.

"Anakin was meeting with him, about what I'm not quite sure but he rushed back and informed us" Obi-wan replied as he started to fall back into deep thought.

"It all makes sense" Ahsoka said in almost a whisper to herself.

"I'm sorry?" Obi-wan questioned after he heard her.

"I finally got answers out of Jahn and he had said that all the information he had received from the Chancellor didn't make sense. He was lead either in a continuous circle or into a Separatist fleet that was waiting for him. It seems that the Chancellor was trying to keep him busy and distracted while things moved in the shadows here" Ahsoka said getting up and paced as she explained to Obi-wan.

"He was trying to keep him away from Anakin" they both said looking at each other.

"The Chancellor knows how much influence Jahn can have on Anakin as an older brother would have and by keeping Jahn away and maybe on the off chance kill him, Palpatine could have influence over him." Ahsoka replied.

"I'll have to speak with Jahn about this but I want you to keep an eye on Anakin. Don't raise any suspicion. Master Windu and the others are going to go arrest Palpatine so that he could be tried in court" Obi-wan said as he looked out at the city below. It's clear that Palpatine wanted Anakin as an apprentice but how would they stop him?

"Understood, Master" Ahsoka said and bowed to take her leave.

She walked briskly through the Temple halls pondering what had been made known to her. At first she couldn't really make sense of it all. How, in her lifetime, could the Sith have appeared? The Council had gone through measures to make sure that didn't happen, right? Though with how the Council had shifted their thinking during the war and allowing themselves to be used as pawns it wasn't that surprising. As she contemplated all this she started to feel a bit of anger wash over her. All the promises that the Jedi had made to the people of the Galaxy and now...now they would all be helpless if the Sith were going to rise again.

Before she knew it she was face to face with Anakin's room. She knocked softly on the door hoping to garner Anakin's gruff response.

"Master?" She asked looking at the durasteel door. No reply came. She knocked again thinking that he must be in a deep sleep. Still it went unanswered. She knew he would get mad but due to the grave situation she made up her mind to just enter his room. The door slid open and she came face to face with an empty room. Her pulse started to quicken as she backed out of the room and into the hallway. Where had he gone? Her first thoughts went to Padme but he couldn't tell her what the Jedi had found out. She took off on a run to search the area remaining parts of the Temple hoping he wasn't where she dreaded.

As the elevator doors opened Jahn stepped inside still unsure of his decision to finally go and confront Anakin. He didn't know where to start or if Anakin would give him the time of day. He had started to make amends with Ahsoka but Jahn knew that Anakin would be harder to reason with. One thing for sure though, he was happy to be back in the temple and back home. Despite all that had happened over the past 3 years he wouldn't change a thing.

This war had changed him but for the better. He had become more knowledgeable of battle and whenever this was over, finally over, he'd finally be able to make a name for himself. He walked through the great halls of the temple and noticed that there weren't many Jedi left, at least that he recognized.

As he turned the corner he saw Master Windu and a few other masters walking briskly towards the hanger. He noticed that the force signatures coming from the group were heightened as if something was wrong. The War was all but won, maybe there was a new threat in the Underworld already. Either way Jahn had more pressing matters to attend to. He walked a few more feet and came up to Obi-wan who seemed to wear the same look that the others wore.

"Master Obi-wan!" Jahn shouted with a small smile. The man never seemed to age.

"Grand Admiral" Obi-wan said with a warm smile trying to hide his work emotional state, giving Jahn a hug.

"That made the rounds already?" Jahn replied, rubbing the back of his neck a bit embarrassed. When he had gotten home he was hailed a hero by the Senate and after an emergency hearing on his report there was a unanimous vote giving him command over the Republic fleet, something he felt was a bit unwarranted. Nevertheless, he thanked the Chancellor for the opportunity.

"Word travels fast when there is a new commander of the fleet. I hope that we will be able to make a difference once the war has ended" Obi-wan replied assuredly.

"Everything ok?" Jahn managed to ask after he finished reading Obi-wan's surprisingly tired face.

"We got some unsettling news regarding the Chancellor?" Obi-wan said hesitantly.

"Is he Ok? Was there an attack?" Jahn asked

"No...something worse. He revealed himself to be the Sith Lord" Obi-wan said. Jahn's calm demeanor immediately changed. Obi-wan felt a burst of energy through the force as he locked eyes with Jahn.

"The man who swore to protect this Republic and all the people in the Galaxy is responsible for all this death?" Jahn replied trying to stay calm. He wanted to rip the scrawny man limb from limb for all that he had done. Jahn turned to go confront the Chancellor but felt Obi-wan grab him by the arm.

"We already have a team going to investigate Anakin's claim. Don't go and do something hasty Jahn." Obi-wan said sternly.

"You don't know what he's done to me, what's he taken from me." Jahn said with darkness in his voice.

"You aren't the only one who has lost something because of his treachery but you will not survive if you go on your own" Obi-wan replied letting his grip loose, trusting the Jahn would make the right decision.

"I'll do what I chose. You don't have the influence on me that you used to, Master" Jahn replied turning to face Obi-wan. His appearance caused Obi-wan to reach for his lightsaber as Jahn eyes flashed yellow for a moment.

"If anything, Jahn, wait until we have things sorted out. Please?" Obi-wan bargained with the young Admiral.

"I can't make any promises. Just make sure the Temple is on high alert. I'll have the fleet on standby just in case you all need to make an escape" Jahn replied turning and taking his leave. He knew what he had to do.

Ahsoka stopped to catch her breath as she came to the courtyard once again figuring she was going in an infinite loop at this point. She had no idea where Anakin had gone to but one thing was for sure, he was definitely upset. She had checked Padme's apartment just to find it as empty as all the other places she looked. She thought that all the running around would take her mind off the news that the Temple had gotten but it only made her more nervous.

What if something happened to Anakin and she wasn't able to protect him? What if he turned to the dark side because of the unhealthy relationship that he with the Chancellor? She leaned on the railing that overlooked the city below. She found it funny how nothing else was stirring. It was as if the real world didn't care or know what was at stake. With the Sith rising again, it would only bring more death to the Galaxy likes the wars did thousands of years ago. She shuttered at the thought of the Order being broken in two and wiped from the record books.

All of a sudden she saw smoke rising from the side of the Senate building. An attack? She ran down to the main hall to try to get a better look. As she came out to the front steps she saw the fire blazing from the side of the building. She felt a blast through the force that caused her to stumble backwards. It was Anakin and he was angry. She felt her feet starting to move towards the building but she knew that what she would find she wouldn't like. She made her way through the crowded streets, a bit of agitation to her pace as she thought back to Obi-wan's words.

How could the Order be so foolish and blind? Something like this should have never happened and if she were honest with herself, the Order would be responsible for all those deaths. She wouldn't have had to endure that painstaking time at that prison camp and Jahn...Jahn wouldn't have been abandoned. She felt her mind slowly started to fill with darker thoughts and immediately tried to calm them.. She practiced the breathing technique that Anakin had taught her but that was soon interrupted as she saw Republic gunships speed overhead towards the Senate building causing her to continue her journey.

She felt her lungs heave for air as she came within eye shot of the Senate building where she knew she'd find Anakin. She collected herself and started to walk up the steps when she saw the same four Republic gunships streak overhead towards the Jedi Temple. As she watched them an explosion erupted out of the side of the temple causing everyone in the street below to run in panic. Her eyes grew wide with a fear that she hadn't felt before, Sith were attacking. Without a second thought she turned on her heel and took off towards the temple, Anakin didn't need her at this point. The Order itself was failing.

As she ran through the streets below she saw a lone gunship peel away and circle back towards the Senate building but paid it no mind. Her focus was now on the crumbling Temple and the little ones that still inhabited it. The sky was beginning to turn dark as it was getting close to dusk now so Ahsoka was starting to lose a visual of the Temple since the power seemed to be cut at the building.

She suddenly heard the hum of the gunship engine that had turned to go back and now it seemed it was following her. A few blaster bolts flew passed her head as she viewed in and out of the housing buildings in front of her. She did make much of a fuss about it but as the gunship starting raining more fire down on her position she began to worry. She tried to use her com to get in contact with the clone pilot but all that came back was dead air. She took out her lightsaber and deflected a few bolts away from her hoping that the green hue of her lightsaber would alert the clones but they seemed to not care that she was a Jedi.

She was running out of breath and escape routes when she saw an abandoned house ahead being held up by stilts. As she ran past it she closed her eyes and waited for the gunship to get closer. She reached her hands out and began to manipulate the force around the building. Once the gunship was at the precise location she brought the building down on top of the gunship. She ran up to it to see if there were any survivors in the rubble so that she could get answers.

She saw a clone officer crawling from underneath the toppled building. Ahsoka grabbed him by the collar and hoisted him in there air.

"I'm a Jedi for kriffs sake. Why are you shooting at me?" Ahsoka snarled at the dazed trooper.

"Jedi...follow orders...jedi" the clone said as he tried to reach for his pistol that was strapped to his ankle.

"What?" Ahsoka said taking a glance at the burning Jedi temple. She didn't have time to sit and interrogate a clone when she needed to get back to the temple.

"Kill...the jedi...traitors" he replied as he brought his gun up to fire. Ahsoka saw this at the last second and force pushed the clone into the adjacent building, hearing his bones crack as he landed with a thud.

Maybe he was just losing his mind, all the clones couldn't be after the Jedi. Maybe the Sith Lord had turned his personal guard against the Order. Her thoughts snapped back to the temple and immediately forgot what the clone was going on about.

By the time she got into the main hall it was already filled with smoke. She tried to wipe the smoke from her vision but it continued to irritate her eyes and lungs. She ran as fast as her feet would take her, stumbling as she went. Soon she got tripped up on what she thought was rubble from the destroyed hall but as she reached down to hoist herself up she felt the touch of cold skin. Using the force to move the smoke from her view she saw bodies littered throughout the corridor. She got up and started to back away and then she heard gunfire ahead of her. She pressed on not knowing her fate and tried to ignore the agonizing screams that streamed through the Force.

Ahsoka turned the corner and felt a hand grab her as a clone battalion rushed passed her followed by a hooded figure. She looked up to protest at the person who was holding her back and noticed it was Jahn. He put a metal finger up to his lips making sure she didn't say a word. He peaked around the corner and saw that it was finally safe.

"Not here" he said briskly as he pulled her to an elevator bank. "Take this up to my room. I have younglings hidden there plus a ship. Put it into autopilot and it will take you to a destination. I'm sending Buck with you."

"I can handle myself and why can't I know the coordinates?" Ahsoka once she finally got a chance to speak and shooting a glance at the weathered clone who would be accompanying her.

"It's not you I'm worried about but if you do get captured the less you know the better" Jahn said looking behind them as Buck made his way up the lift.

"Well at this point I don't know anything, Jahn. I've been shot at and now there are dead Jedi all over the place. I don't even know where Anakin is!" Ahsoka said starting to let the fear and frustration get the better of her. Jahn saw the dread start wash over her face. He wanted to tell her that Anakin was leading the troops that were slaughtering everyone and that it seemed like he turned to the dark side. But she would be heartbroken once she knew.

Anakin was the closest thing to family that Ahsoka had. He looked down at her small hands in his and felt compelled to do something to help her. She felt his arms slowly wrap around her waist as he pulled her close. She wanted to protest because she didn't feel that they were back to this point yet but she needed this, his warmth.

"You'll get all the answers but we are running out of time, Ahsoka" Jahn said as he held her and then finally let her go. "Please keep those younglings safe. The others will be joining you soon"

"I understand. But what about you?" Ahsoka asked knowing that his own safety was the last thing on his mind.

"Me? Don't worry about me. I've survived this long, what's one more catastrophe?" he said with a smile. Ahsoka couldn't help but smile as he did. He truly did make her happy whenever she needed it.

The elevator dinged behind her as the doors slowly opened, signaling her that it was time for her final escape. She walked in and turned to give him a small wave but he was already gone leaving her to wonder if this was the last she'd ever see of him.

The elevator quickly came to a stop and she saw that Buck had already gotten the younglings settled on the small transport ship. Ahsoka hopped in the pilot's seat and got the ship ready for takeoff. She guided it out to the cloudy night sky, careful to not draw any attention to the vessel and its cargo. Apparently, Jahn had stolen the right ship because it got out to the atmosphere without a hitch. She took one last look at the planet she had called home for years as she set the ship to autopilot and watched as it soon faded away.

Jahn crept through the halls looking for any survivors of the deadly attack. But to his horror Anakin had been all but thorough as he brought terror to the once peaceful temple.

"Looking for me?" Anakin asked as he stepped into the hall causing Jahn to tense up as he heard the darkness in his voice.

"Not really" Jahn replied as he kept to his search of the lifeless bodies.

"You won't find anyone alive, I've made sure of that. They are traitors you know? The Chancellor told me that the Jedi tried to take over the Republic." Anakin said with anger swelling in his voice.

"They? You've already turned you back on the very people who trusted you and did everything to make sure you succeeded?" Jahn replied, his back still to Anakin, trying to forgo this encounter for as long as possible.

"They turned on me and you. Wasn't it their decision to send you into a suicide mission? When you were helpless and limbless in space, which was the Council's fault. Already your thoughts betray you, brother" Anakin replied, as the crack of his lighsaber echoed through the halls.

"Really? You're trying to manipulate me? How far are you into your Sith training?" Jahn asked as he wiped his hands from the dried blood that had covered them as a result of his helpless search.

"I'm trying to bring you to the light, Jahn. I'm just bringing order to the orderless Jedi. I'm the Chosen One after all."

Jahn was sure Ahsoka had made the jump to hyperspace so he could quit his stalling.

"Where are the others, Jahn? I know there more here. I can feel their fear trickling through the Force, even from you." He continued, bringing his lightsaber to an attack position. Jahn put his hand on his own, just in case it had to come to that.

"You've killed enough people already, Anakin. These kids haven't done anything to you. They aren't part of whatever uprising the Jedi have started. I know Ahsoka had no part in this." Jahn said as he slowly moved to a dead clone who had a grenade on his belt. He knew he wouldn't survive a head on clash with Anakin, at least not without the dark side.

"The Jedi must be destroyed, all Jedi. They threaten the very thing we fought for, what we foolishly died for. We should have listened to the Chancellor all along." Anakin replied igniting his lightsaber.

"I understand what the Chancellor is saying but why couldn't you just leave the Order and not follow the Sith. Yes, the Order was old and blind to the Chancellor's ambitions but why would they overthrow the Republic. Even Padme had-"

"Leave her out of this!" Anakin spat "she is the reason I am trying to create a better galaxy. She'll understand completely."

Jahn moved his hand away from the clone's utility belt and as the second ticked down on the now armed grenade he turned on his heel and ran. The explosion tore through the room as the initial grenade sent off a ripple effect. He felt his body get tossed forward, slamming him into the floor below. He pulled himself up as his chest heaved with every breath, but he couldn't stop. He couldn't let Anakin get a hold of him, not in the state Anakin was in. Jahn was sure Padme could help or get through to him. He just had to get off this corrupt planet one last time.

Ahsoka shifted uncomfortably in her seat as the small cargo ship ripped through hyperspace, their destination still unknown. As she glanced around the cockpit she had to hand it to Jahn, the ship was a hunk of space junk but the thing could fly. She let out a sigh but it didn't seem to calm her thoughts much, it was like the Galaxy was back to square one. With the defeat of Dooku she that they things would start to move forward but now, there was no hope, she needed her Master.

"I was able to calm the little ones down but you may need to explain a few things to them" Buck said as he took a seat next to her. She contemplated getting up or just sit and wait till they landed. She didn't think she had the mental strength to explain the situation to the little ones, hell she didn't even know herself. She decided to check the Holonet again but all that came back was the emergency alert, 'Coruscant has been placed on temporary lockdown, stay in your homes'. She wondered where Anakin was in all of this, why he hadn't been there? He had been the savior of the Council for years and yet when they needed it the most he wasn't at the Temple. She cringed at the thought of the hundreds of bodies that she had seen strewn about the crumbling corridors.

"Padawan Tano" a soft voice asked, pulling her out of her thoughts

"Jadan, what are you doing up here?" she replied, getting up to tend to the young boy. He was visibly shaken from the events in the Temple.

"We've been flying for hours and we don't know what's going on. We are just scared. Jahn told us to trust that everything was being OK but I couldn't help feeling that we caused this whole mess. I mean the person…." he spoke, while fiddling with the edge of his jedi robes.

"The person what?" she replied, urging him to continue

"The person who was hurting everyone in the Temple was a Jedi."

"You must've been seeing things, Jadan. No Jedi would ever betray their own people. What did the attacker look like?" she asked, as she walked back to the area with the other younglings.

"I'm not sure, all I know is he had a cloak. Jahn had us hidden behind him the whole time. He kept muttering a name when he ran us to the elevator. I don't know if it was significant or anything" he replied, causing Ahsoka to tighten her grip on his hand.

"What was the name?"

"Ani" he said taking a seat with the rest of the younglings.

Ahsoka froze where she stood, her eyes widening as she replayed what Jadan had just said. She took a few steps back and hit the closed durasteel door. She felt her hands start to tremble while trying to fight the onslaught of thoughts going back to Anakin. He couldn't have done that, not her Master, no. If it was truly Anakin and Jahn knew he would've told her. That she was sure of.

"Ahsoka!" Buck yelled from the cockpit "We just came out of hyperspace and you gotta see this"

She brushed off her sweating palms on her tunic and walked towards the front of the ship. She'd get answers as soon as they landed. She tried to keep a stoic presence about her but she started to feel hope starting to slip away.

AN: This strayed from the canon a bit because, well, Ahsoka wasn't around in Episode III. Hope you enjoyed it. I plan to update as soon as I can.
