She folded the laundry and headed upstairs to put it away. Andy was at school and molly was at daycare so Mrs. Davis had the house to herself. Her children's rooms were empty except for the toys scattered everywhere. Setting the basket of clothes on Andy's bed, she bent down to pick up the toys.

Buzz Lightyear, Andy had gotten him for a birthday a while back. He loved that thing as soon as he unwrapped it. The slinky dog, oh that awful thing. Its coil was all loose, but Andy insisted on keeping it because it would break up the gang is he got thrown out. The green dinosaur, Mr. Potato head and his one-eyed wife. All these memories of her son's childhood. They all fit in the bandwagon box.

Mrs. Davis went to leave the room but her toe caught on a toy under the bed. Her hand reached out and grabbed the red headed cowgirl. Her hat had fallen off. Mrs. Davis placed it back on her head and she had a sudden wave of emotion. The yellow bow in her one braid. it didn't look like it matched right.

Mrs. Davis let out a slight gasp.

"Jesse?" She ran her fingers over the cloth clothes and the boots of faux leather. Her hat, still soft after all those years. Mrs. Davis looked around the room for Andy's cowboy hat she had given him years ago when he first got his Andy doll. It was resting on the bedpost like it had for almost a decade. She picked it up and put it on.

"It's a bit small." Mrs. Davis said out loud, still holding Jesse. She looked down at the doll then at the mirror. She remembered now. She found her old doll under the bed and stuck her in box for charity. Mrs. Davis began to cry.

Like a child, she hugged Jesse and let her wipe her tears again after all those years.

"It's me, Emily. Do you remember?"

Mrs. Davis could almost feel Jesse hugging her back.
