He isn't sure when became a leader
He's glad she's by his side
Someone has to tell him what to do
Slap him upside the head sometimes
She of course should take charge
She always knows what to do
And while he may not be all that bright
She's glad he's with her too
He remembers the night he first saw her
Looking him over filled with hope
While his head spun with the prayer that it's just a bad dream
But the nightmare had only begun
He is lucky to have her
She's lucky to have him too
They'll never admit it of course
But they've seen all of it through
They've been lost
Hopeless
So undoubtedly done for
And somehow still made it out alive
But now he can't describe the despair
Of knowing there's no way out
But further down into the abyss
So he clings to the "I love you" that slips from her lips
In fact, he just clings to her
That's all he has
At least, if they die
They'll do it together like always
He can't see in the darkness
He knows she's there
And suddenly he knows
Suddenly he's aware
That it just isn't fair
After all that they've done
He will not let her die
Gaea hasn't won
Something inside him changes
Hardens to a soldier that lurked inside
Plans may be her job
But he'll find a way to get them out alive
He holds her a little tighter
The wind whistles and the darkness brightens
To slightly above pitch blackness
The end is nearly here
But he won't let her die
Not Annabeth, not his Annabeth
He's glad she can't read his mind
He knows he's being possessive, acting strange
He's desperate
There's no way to keep from going splat
On the floor of Tartarus
And only in the doormat
But then a faint whisper
Makes it into his ear
"Percy! Water!" Annabeth yells
Just loud enough for him to hear
And there's the immediate plan
They won't die
They'll make it
Just like old times.
