AN:
Damaged Emerald this is for you. I will be finishing this story just for you. It will take me a while but I will make sure it gets done. You reminded me why I started writing in the first place. I really hope you enjoy this chapter.
"Are Dean and Cas crazy?" Gabe asked walking into first class.
"Slightly maybe," Sam yawned sliding into his chair and strapping himself in. Gabe slid into the window seat next to Sam, "But don't complain. We get first class seats and plenty of leg room." Sam stretched his legs out.
Gabe sighed and smiled a sleepy smile over at Sam, "Are you ready for this?"
Sam slid his hand into Gabe's, "I've never been more ready. And I'll be here for you how I can." Gabe smiled stiffly; pulling a bag of candy from his pocket he dumped the gummy bears into his mouth.
"Mr. and Mr. Winchester?" the stewardess asked walking over with a pin pad in hand a tiny smile on her lips.
"Not Mr. Winchester yet," Gabe replied smiling and winking at her. He felt Sam's fingers stiffen and grip his hand tighter, "But how can we help you?"
"I just wanted to confirm your breakfast and lunch meals and drinks." She replied a small smile on her lips
"What was under Castiel's?" Gabe asked putting some pressure to Sam's fingers hoping he would relax.
"I'm assuming that is you?" She replied taping her paper.
"No he would be my brother. And this is Sam Winchester. We are taking Dean and Cas' place." Gabe said pulling his hand from Sam's squeezing fingers.
"Alright then. What would you both like to eat?" she asked handing them both a small menu.
"I'll have a salad. And water for lunch and the breakfast burrito for breakfast." Sam interjected scanning the small paper quickly. Gabe chanced a glance at Sam and quickly looked away from the glare he was receiving from Sam.
"I'll just have the cheese burger and coke. No mayo or tomato. And ill also take the breakfast burrito too please." Gabe said and watched the woman walk away before he turned his attention back to Sam.
"What Samouse?" Gabe asked his eyes meeting Sam's glaring ones.
"You're not Mr. Winchester yet." Sam snapped.
"I'm not Sam." Gabe shrugged a soft playful smile on his lips.
"It's not a shrugging matter Gabriel. We aren't dating and you shouldn't act like we are. Yes we may eventually but this isn't something I take likely." Sam snapped, "I don't date many people. The last person I did is a complete psycho and I'm trying to not make that mistake again."
Gabe's eyes widened, "I was just making conversation. You realize everything we do this whole week will be with people assuming we are soon to be Mr. and Mr. Winchester. You can either embrace it and play your part or you can be grumpy the whole damn time we are there. That won't help much because I'm going to have a hard enough time keeping myself sane and happy, I don't need to try to make you fucking happy too. I won't have enough energy or concentration to." Gabe snapped back.
"And you do realize that we aren't dating?" Sam asked again his eyes full of anger and something else that Gabe couldn't exactly place.
"Leave me the fuck alone and go to sleep Samael." Gabe stared at the man sitting next to him. Part of him still wanted to reach his hands across this small space and take Sam's hand into his again and the other half wanted nothing more than to get off this plane and never talk to Sam again. With one more glare, Gabe firmly turned his back on Sam. He honestly wanted nothing more than to stare at Samoose, he wanted to enjoy every moment he could with him. But is he even my Samoose or am I just someone to pass the time? Someone he can trust with his secrets and fears but didn't want more than that.
"Can I have your attention please? We will be taking our non-stop flight from Fresno to Oahu. We ask that you please put your phones on airplane mode as we will be taking off in ten minutes. Please stay seated with your seatbelt buckled. Thank you for choosing Andrum Airlines." After a pause of maybe ten seconds the whole thing was repeated in Spanish. Gabe rubbed his hands up and down his tired face. He snapped his own belt into place and watched the sunlight slightly kiss the horizon as the plane began to move.
"I'm sorry." Sam mumbled quietly.
"Yeah." Gabe replied shortly still staring out the window as the plane left the ground.
"Look there is a reason I'm so…paranoid about you being called Mr. Winchester," Sam started to explain
"Sam," Gabe groaned pulling the shade down on his window and rolled over to face sam, "I don't want to hear excuses. I don't want to deal with this attitude all week. If you are going to be like this please tell me."
Sam stayed silent for a few seconds, his eyes darting from Gabe's eyes to the floor and back again "You don't care why I don't want anyone to call you Winchester?"
"Oh I do care, but I already have enough on my plate for this week. You are supposed to be helping me this week remember." Gabe replied and unbuckled as soon as the sign flashed off. Gabe waited a few more seconds for Sam to say something. When he didn't he stood up, "Go to sleep Samael." He squeezed out and walked towards the front.
"Do you need anything Mr.?" the same blonde stewardess asked.
"Mr. Novak, "Gabe replied weekly, "Just an eye mask and when will you be brining around breakfast."
"9 Mr. Novak." She replied with a slight pretty smile, "And I'll go grab one for you." She stepped out of sight. Gabe felt his heart sink; this is going to be one damn long week. "Here you go sir." Gabe took it from her and walked back to his seat. Sam was already passed out a pillow shoved under his head and only the top half of his body covered by the blanket that was supplied to them. Gabe slipped back into his seat leaned it as far back as it would go. He put his own pillow under his head and spread the blanket out over him. Pulling the eye mask on Gabe fell asleep in seconds.
"I'm telling you it's nothing bun bun." Balthazar insisted for the tenth time in the last five minutes.
"Babe bruising like this isn't normal, expectedly if it happened over two weeks ago. It shouldn't still be this dark." Gabe maintained holding Balthazar's leg that had dark bruises up his leg like patchwork on a quilt.
"Will it make you feel better if I let Castiel look at it?" He asked his eyebrows raised. After a few seconds of thinking Gabe nodded. Cas wasn't a doctor yet but he was only six months out from finishing his PHD.
"Let's head back then." Balthazar said pulling his leg out of Gabe's light grip. He held his hand out. Gabe took it and brushed the sand off both of them. They walked hand and hand down the beach towards Balthazar's house that was maybe a five minute walk from where they were.
"You wanna know somewhere I eventually want to go?" Balthazar asked breaking the silence that was starting to stretch between them.
"Where's that?" Gabe asked looking over to Balthazar.
Bslthazar bit his lower lip slightly, "I want to go to Oahu. Also I want to find a candy shop that I'd never want to walk out of."
"Babe we live on a beach. Why do you want to go to another beach? And we have I think three candy shops down the street?" Gabe replied leading them up to Balthazar's bright red door.
"I can walk out of those candy shops babe," Balthazar shrugged, "And it won't kill us to see different parts of our world."
"Castiel if you walk out of that fucking door we are done." Both Balthazar and Gabe froze as they opened the door. Cas stood a few feet from them and Crowley stood half way up the stairs anger etched on his face.
"Crowley this," Cas shot back holding his budging book bag up, "matters to me. Why can't you see that? I know that it's hard for you to accept but this is what I want to do with my life. I need to be a doctor. I'll be a damn good one. Once schools done…things will be easier for us." Gabe wanted nothing more than to close the front door now. He had never heard that desperate tone in Cas voice and he didn't like hearing it there either.
"Cas," Gabe called out hating that he couldn't walk away, "Can Bal and I barrow you?"
"Do you really need him at the moment?" Crowley snapped, turning his angry eyes from Cas to both of them.
"Gabe wouldn't of asked if they didn't." Cas snapped back. He turned his bloodshot and burning eyes onto his brother, "What do you need?"
"I need your opinion on Bal's leg it doesn't seem to be getting any better." Gabe said drawing his eyes away from the very pissed off Crowley.
Cas kneeled down and took Balthazar's leg into his hand. He lightly put pressure on it and drew his hands away when Balthazar hissed slightly in pain, "Does it hurt walking on it or just putting outside pressure on it?"
Balthazar hesitated before answering throwing a look over at Gabe, "it just always seems to hurt."
"And how long ago did this happen again?" Cas asked looking up from Balthazar's leg a worried expression on his face.
Balthazar shrugged still not really worried, "Like two and a half weeks ago? I was out surfing and landed wrong on some rocks."
A slight frown crossed Cas face as he stood up, "Now I'm not saying anything is wrong besides a bad sprain and you being low on iron, but do you two mind coming to Stanford with me? I can get a blood test done within the hour and I can also have your leg looked at by a physical therapist."
With a slight hesitation Balthazar replied "Uh yeah sure. Can't hurt me any." He turned towards Cas Jeep and slipped his fingers out of Gabe's.
Gabe sat bolt upright and was slightly confused and alarmed for a few seconds, as to why he couldn't see anything. Pushing the eye mask up Gabe looked around to see a staring and handsome Sam. Gabe just couldn't help himself. Even if he was still slightly annoyed at the man there was just a draw to him. "Sorry I tried to not wake you." Sam apologized as he finished pushing a plate of food onto the tray in front of Gabe.
"It's alright," Gabe said through a yawn and stretched out hearing a few pops, "Was I really asleep for three hours?" Gabe pushed his seat into a sitting position.
"Yeah but it's not too surprising. We fell asleep around midnight and woke up around 4. So the few extra hours are out bodies trying to catch up. Did you sleep well?" Sam said reaching forward and grabbing his own breakfast burrito to take a bite.
"I don't think I'll be sleeping well at all this week." Gabe admitted honestly staring to eat his own breakfast.
"Whys that?" Sam asked looking concerned around a mouthful of food.
I'll be sleeping next to you and I'll have to remember to keep my hands to myself Gabe thought then answered, "Dreams mostly. I can't seem to escape them anymore. And the stress of this trip on top of all of it, I'll be fucking lucky to get any good sleep."
They both sat in scilence while they ate there food. Sam finished his burrito first then turned in his seat to face Gabe, "Are the dreams nightmares or memories?"
"Sometimes they are nightmares but I learned a long time ago how to wake myself up from them," Gabe started to explain shoving the rest of his food into his mouth, "but the memories I can never get out of. Until I wake up at least."
"They seem so real that you don't realize they are dreams huh." Sam replied quietly. Gabe nodded mutely as the stewardess walked up to take their empty plates. "Is that what you woke up from?"
Gabe nodded again, "it was right before everything went to shit. Sometimes its so hard to see him in my dreams. To feel like I have him back, that I can hold him in my arms, have a conversation about things." Sam nodded understanding. He reached his hand across the space between them and lightly squeezed Gabe's hand.
After a few more moments of silence Sam stood up and reached into the overhead compartment, "Wanna watch some movies with me to pass the time?" he asked pulling down his computer bag.
"Yes," Gabe answered smiling, "What are our choices?"
"Lillo and stitch, Mulan, Beauty and the beast my personal favorite, or the lion king?" Sam asked looking into the bag as he sat down.
"Was this originally packed for Dean and Cas?" Gabe asked, "Cause Cas is a Disney fanatic."
Sam grimaced slightly, "No I packed this. I love Disney as well."
Gabe chuckled, "It's all good. I know most of these by hart. These are Cas' go to if he or I are upset. He drags us out to the front room and puts a Disney movie in. Let's go with your favorite and then you choose the next one." Sam beamed at Gabe and opened the lap top. They got all the way through Beauty and the beast and half way though Mulan by the time lunch was brought around.
"Look I'm really sorry about earlier." Sam said drinking from his water
"Which part?" Gabe asked laughing slightly, "The part where you started to sing with beauty and the beast so off key that it hurt my ears or the part where you cried at the end of a movie that you know the ending to. You know the Beast doesn't die."
Sam lightly shoved Gabe's shoulder, "I don't sing that bad and I didn't cry I just got something in my eye." He was smiling then looking seriously he said, "I'm sorry about freaking out about the Winchester thing. I have a crazy ass ex and-" Sam stated to explain
"It's fine Sam I forgive you. Everyone has reasons they do things. And whoever told you that you could sing was dead wrong." Gabe laughed again. Sam laughed as well.
The rest of the flight went without issue. They landed in Oahu. "You know this three hour difference is going to take a little to get used to." Sam commented looking down at his digital watch.
"What time is it in California?" Gabe asked unstrapping himself and waiting for the go ahead to get off the plane.
"Its 2PM. Here its only 11AM we gained time." Sam answered shoving his computer into its bag.
"Mr. Novak and Mr. Winchester you are both free to get off now." The blonde stewardess said walking by.
"Ready for this?" Sam asked standing up and holding out his hand.
Gabe eyes the hand in front of him, "Are you ready for this Sam?"
Sam bit his lower lip a warm smile still on his face, "I don't think I could be anymore ready." Gabe took his hand and walked out with him to get their luggage from baggage retrieval. Two pink lays were laid on their shoulders as they walked out of the airport.
"It already smells like the beach." Sam commented as they hailed a cab.
"Yeah well we are on an island." Gabe replied smiling up at the man who still held his hand but at the same time he felt his stomach roll. He had no clue how he was going to get through this week.
