Chapter 28: A king's intentions
Stuck in her bed for a few days, Nagi finally could leave her room. She felt better from her unexpected fever. The Asad is greeted by Ja'far while walking through the halls of the palace.
"Welcome back, Miss Nagi. I'm glad you feel better." Ja'far said with a smile. Nagi gave a tired smile in return, "Yes, it's great to finally leave my room…"
Ja'far silently laugh, they walk beside each other. They silently enjoy the peaceful silence as Ja'far suddenly remembers something. "Have you seen Sinbad? I couldn't find him anywhere." He asks but Nagi shakes her head. Ja'far let out a heavy sigh, "I see. Please excuse me; I need to find him..." Nagi waves goodbye to Ja'far. He left in a hurry to find Sinbad. Shrugging her shoulder, she decides to walk to the front courtyard.
Arriving at the courtyard, she felt an unexpected chill down her spine. Nagi turns her head to the left and right to find nothing unusual. 'Strange…maybe it's just me.' She thought. She lifts her head up to look at the clear blue sky. Her eyes widen to see blue liquid drip from the sky to create a hole; she realized that the magic protecting the city is breaking. The hole expands as Nagi took a step back to see something floating down from the sky. As the thing come closer, Nagi saw it's the black haired magi from Balbadd. Loud shouts made her heart jump as she turns her head to see the Sindria's guards running towards the magi as his bare feet touch the marbled floor. She saw the generals and the guards surround the magi. With their spears ready to attack, Nagi glares at Judar. She turns her left to see Ja'far standing at her side. Judar only smiles when he speaks up, "What's wrong? You look so glum."
Nagi unstrapped her chakrams that rest on her back to let them rest in her hands. Ja'far coldly stares at Judar as his knives fell into his hands through his sleeves. Lighting surrounds the cold assassin as his knives glows.
"Household Vessel, Balalark Sei!" Ja'far shouts. He throws his knives towards his foe. The knives became lighting snakes. Judar simply points his wand at the snakes as he protects himself with his magical shield. Judar flick his wrist to summon a medium tornado towards Ja'far. "Out of my way, scrub. My business is with Sinbad." Judar said.
Nagi rushes towards Ja'far to carry him out of harm's way with her chakrams hung around her wrist. The wind funnel only attacks the palace wall. She let out of tired breath as she kneels to let Ja'far down when she heard the magi click his tongue in annoyance. Ja'far pulls on the string attack to his knife to hold it tightly in his hands, "What do you say?"
"Stop it, Ja'far." A familiar voice stops Ja'far in his tracks. Nagi watches Sinbad arrive at the scene to stand in front of Judar.
"What are you doing here, Judar?" Sinbad asks. Judar's smile suddenly turns into a frown when seeing Sinbad's appearance, "You look awful, Sinbad. What is the deal with that thing in your face?"
Sinbad only stare coldly at the magi, Nagi only see him being serious with this conversation. They began to talk when Nagi's ear caught Judar mentioning Aladdin. She listens to Judar explaining that there is only three magis.
"There is me. Then there's that old hag in Rehm. The last magi would be that guy who wanders all over the world. If new magi were to appear, then one of us would be dead." Judar said then suddenly shouts at Sinbad, "But I've received no such information! So who the hell is he?"
Nagi's eyes lowers to the ground as her hands tightly grip on her chakrams. She heard Judar comment Sinbad, "What are you planning to accomplish by using that little twerp?" Sinbad remains silent then spoke, "It's none of your business." Judar laughs, "Man you're one heartless dude!"
'...Aladdin…' Nagi thought when she returns back to reality. She lifts her head up when Judar mentions war between the organization and Sinbad. Her heart tightens when she heard some members are ready to attack her friends.
Her head hurts little when thinking ways to find Aladdin and her friends. Her mind conflicts with her friends with oncoming enemies approaching the land of Sindria soon. Her eyes widen as Judar mentions the growing power of the Kou Empire with five dungeon users.
Nagi could only watch Judar jump towards the sky and fly away from them. Ja'far shouts at Sinbad who stand by his side. She strapped her chakrams on her back.
"Are we going to let him get away!?"
Sinbad looks down to Ja'far, "This is not the time to go into battle with him. Have the eight generals gather in the While Aries Tower. We're holding an emergency war council." Nagi could only watch in silence as Ja'far gave orders to the soldiers. The soldiers and the generals left with their king. She saw the lone Kou princess only watch Sinbad. Nagi approaches her as she spoke up, "Lady Ren." Kogyoku Ren jumps a little from Nagi's voice. Kogyoku turns to the Asad who motions her to the door.
"Shall we go inside?" Nagi asks. Kogyoku nods then walks inside first with Nagi following behind. Nagi saw Kogyoku conflicted as she let her walk by herself, seeing that the princess needs time alone.
With her mind occupied, she didn't hear the bells rung outside when soldiers walk past her. Nagi stops for a second see something blocking her way. The Asad saw her armored friend's back, he turns his head to Nagi.
"Masrur…" Nagi only said. Masrur only nod his head in greeting. Nagi spoke up again, "I want to help. Aladdin will be sad if everyone got hurt."
Masrur wraps his arms around Nagi for a second. Her cheeks felt hot as he removes his arms around her. "Let's go." Masrur said. They walk beside each other in silence when they walk back out to the courtyard to see everyone in formation to see their king. Nagi silently listens to Sinbad's speech before the warriors' runs to their battle stations.
Nagi and Masrur stand on top a small land in front the main land of Sindria. Nagi's eyes were closed for a moment then snapped open to see a grown man wearing only leather armor, showing his bare muscular arms. She held her twin charkams in her hands when Masrur spoke up at her left side.
"Apparently, he is our opponent."
They watch their opponent draw in his metal vessel into his body. Black armor covers his upper body as two extra arms from the armor. The black arms form into fists and stretches towards Masrur and Nagi. The arms punch to the ground where they once stood. Nagi stand by Masrur's side, her eyes watch her opponent to see anything that might help them take advantage. She jumps back as two arms punch to the ground in front of her.
She felt her feet leave the ground for a second when she looks up to see Masrur. Nagi found herself in Masrur's arms in bridal style as he carried her from oncoming fists. As they moved to a safe spot, Masrur help her on her feet. Nagi thanks the Fanalis when they heard a loud shout. Nagi watches their opponent's extra arms split into multiple arms.
"You'd better make sure you dodge in time, or you'll get squashed!" The male shouted.
Quick on their feet, Masrur and Nagi moves out the arm's distance as they split to opposite directions. Nagi charges forward towards the enemy, slashing downward towards his way. The enemy jumps back as the chakram barely touch his cheek. Jumping back from more fists, Nagi threw two miniature chakrams from her belt at the enemy's sides. The small blades only land at their spot, one stab into a boulder behind the enemy and the other a foot away in front of him. The enemy scoffs at Nagi's lack of accuracy. Nagi runs quickly to the enemy are other side to do the same.
The Asad watches the enemy's attacks turn to focus on Masrur, he seems to be trapped the black arms looms over him. Before the fists lands on him, Masrur only called his house vessel.
"Household Vessel, Balalark Kauza."
Lighting forms at his feet before he disappears in a second from the enemy's sight. The enemy was shocked to see his attack didn't hit anything. His eyes move his left to see the Fanalis is covered by lighting. The enemy tries to move away from Masrur's uncoming hand but he was stuck in place. Nagi stands on top of the boulder with her hands holding thin wires that were connected to her main chakrams. Masrur's left hand stabs through his opponent's chest with ease. Blood spout from the enemy's mouth before falling face first on the ground. Masrur's hand left the opponents chest, lighting crackles in his hand.
Nagi releases the wires from her chakrams before approaching Masrur. Masrur sits on the ground, looking a bit tired. "Run out of magoi?" Nagi ask. The male nods his head. She helps Masrur onto his feet when she saw purple acid crawling slowly up on the barrier. Only half of the acid remains, Nagi watches three generals try to destroy the acid but no luck until she saw a familiar female figure. The figure float on the air is Lady Ren with half of her body to be covered in scales. Her mouth drops to see large waves destroyed the acid with ease by Lady Ren. Masrur share the same look of surprise.
"…She is stronger than I thought." Nagi comments. Masrur only grunts in agreement.
The danger ceases in Sindria, a victory for Sinbad. For the Asad, she slowly grew uneasy when the sun let the moon shine for the night. Nagi remembers Judar's conversation with Sinbad, the king trying to use the little magi for himself. She felt irritated when she has no idea to protect Aladdin from Sinbad. Nagi should take Aladdin and her friends away from Sindria but they will question her intentions. It's been a while since she is stuck with conflicted thoughts. She waited for her friends to return from their journey. When they return to Sindria, Nagi welcomes them with a tight hug with small tears in her eyes.
The people build another party for the victory of Sindria. Colorful banners hung over their heads. Nagi remains silent, leaning against the stone wall away from the crowd as the shadow covers her. She listens to Sinbad's speech, congratulating Aladdin and his friends for conquering a dungeon. Cheerful cries from the people response to his speech.
Nagi had fill of the festival, not wanting to let mood of the party damper with her thoughts. With a wooden cup of water in her left hand and the other with a small plate of food, Nagi decides to skip the festival to retire in her room. The Asad jumps on the rooftop to sit on it. Biting to her apple, she saw two figures from the distance. Blinking once, Nagi saw them to be Sinbad with Lady Kou in his arms. She soon lost her appetite, putting her half eaten apple back on her plate. With a small noise of irritation, Nagi watches Sinbad walks forward to the roof where she sits on. She becomes still when she thought Sinbad made eye contact with her before he walks inside the building under her feet.
'Sinbad…a man with tremendous power and there is no sign of backing down soon.' She thought.
