This is the end... hold your breath and count to ten...

"Hi, mom. Hi, dad."

Dick stood in between their graves, and allowed a tiny smile onto his face.

"It's been awhile, hasn't it?"

True to his word, Bruce had managed to move his parents to the tiny gravesite just a few minutes from the manor. This was the first time in years Dick had actually been able to visit them. The site was nice, too- tiny flowers yellow were scattered across the little hill. His mom would have loved it. Thomas and Martha Wayne's gravestones were only a few meters away.

"I... I miss you guys," Dick breathed out shakily, feeling his heart clench painfully. "I miss you guys, and I miss the circus, and our little trailer, and the trapeze and the way you use to call me your little robin..."

A gust of wind sent the small teardrop that had slowly slid down his cheek flying away. Dick composed himself and smiled again.

"But I just wanted to tell you guys... I've made some new friends. And they're the best people in the world, I swear. I bet even you'd be hard-pressed to find someone more caring, or kind. You'd like them a lot... I know that for certain."

He paused for a second and pictured them all in his head- Connor, M'gann, Kaldur, Wally, Artemis, Zatanna, Rocket- and sighed.

"Bruce is the best, though. If you had met him... I get the feeling you guys would have been friends... he's one of the most amazing men I've ever met. I wish... I wish you were here, to meet him. You'd definitely approve, I think."

He closed his eyes for a long moment before re-opening them again.

"Slade got away... he escaped. And normally, I'd be terrified... but Bruce and the rest of the Justice League are after them, now- some of the most advanced tech in the world is searching for him and Luthor. The second they do anything, the League will be on top of them in seconds. They're both in hiding, now... someone else has taken charge of Lexcorp while Luthor keeps his head down. For the first time in a long while, I feel safe."

Dick was sort of rambling, but he didn't particularly care. He knelt down in between their gravestones and kept talking.

"It's great... for the first time, I'm actually going to get to got to school. Mom, Dad... did you ever imagine that? Me, going to school?" He let out a little laugh. "It's a school that Bruce has funded, and he's stocked it with a defense system that's almost as efficient as the Batcave's. I'll be more safe there then I'll be when I'm on missions! I've already made a friend who's going to be in some of my classes, too... Bruce introduced me to her the other day. Her name is Barbara Gordon. She's pretty cool, and very smart- I think... I think it's going to be fun."

Then he took a deep breath, because this was the part he had been sort of dreading.

"I know it's stupid... but... I need to change my name. I can't... I can't keep it as Richard Grayson anymore, because then someone might find me, even with all of Bruce's security up. I was just... I just wanted to tell you guys, before I did it- then I'd just be Dick Wayne... Bruce is planning to adopt me, he has the connections to do it without calling a lot of attention to it, and so Luthor won't be able to find me..."

Dick froze for a moment, and swallowed hard, preparing himself for the wave of guilt that he was expecting... He didn't know how his parents would feel about him getting adopted and leaving the Grayson name- but it didn't come.

Instead, he was filled with an incredible feeling of warmth, and love- it was almost as if his parents were there with him, sitting next to him on the grass, wrapping their arms around him-

They understood. Everything was fine...

They loved him.

Without warning, Mr. Haly's words suddenly came back to him: "Son... you've grown, but some things will never change. Like the sight of a Grayson, on a trapeze. You can't fake that, can't hide it."

Dick would always, always keep the Grayson name close to his heart.

Before Dick could stop it, another tear dripped down his cheek, followed by another, and another- but his smile grew wider, and his heart felt like it was only seconds away from bursting.

"I miss you guys so much," he gasped. "I miss you, I love you..."

Slowly, he stood up- there were grass stains on his pants, but Dick didn't care.

Footsteps sounded behind him, and Dick turned as Bruce joined him on the tiny hill.

"Are you ready to go?" Bruce asked quietly, smiling softly as Dick met his gaze. Dick gave him a watery smile back.

"I... yeah," he said. He turned back to his parents.

"I'll come back and visit again soon," he said. "I... I love you."

Bruce squeezed his shoulder comfortingly, and Dick leaned into the contact gratefully. As they turned to leave, Dick's eyes suddenly widened, and he turned around again, this time facing Bruce's parents.

"Your son is the most incredible person I've ever met," Dick said honestly, and heard Bruce's sharp intake of air from beside him. "I love him a lot... I hope you're proud of him."

When he turned back to Bruce, the man gripped him in a tender hug. When they finally pulled apart, Dick wiped his eyes and lifted his head.

"Alright, I'm good," he said. "Asterous. Bruce... thank you."

"Anytime, Dick," Bruce said in reply, and together, they began to walk back towards the manor.

Dick grinned as the enormous house came into view.

He was finally free.

Free of Slade, free of Luthor, free of their control-

He was Robin, and no one, no one, could take that from him.

THE END

Okay...

Alright...

...what am I supposed to do with my life now?

AHHHHHH IT'S DONE I'M SO PUMPED UP! I'VE WORKED ON THIS FOR OVER A YEAR, AND IT'S ACTUALLY FINISHED!

Oh my gosh... how can I even begin to thank you guys? Your incredible reviews and encouragements kept me going, and I'm so happy that you guys pushed me to keep going even when I hit massive reader's block. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

I've had so many people ask me about doing a sequel... I'm thinking sure, I could do something... it definitely won't be as long as this one was, but I think I can whip up something! The problem is I'm not really sure what exactly happens after this, seeing as I never imagined I'd get this far... I'm fresh out of ideas! If you have a suggestion, I'd love to hear it!

I'll probably take a short break from the Luthor's Assassin universe for a bit- but I will come back to it, and I'll definitely do more Young Justice stuff! I have so many new story ideas that I think you guys would like... and I also have a few other fandom things that I'd like to write. I'm thinking I'll head over to the Fullmetal Alchemist fandom for a bit, but keep your eyes open for more YJ things in the future! Also, have a fandom you'd like to see me write in? Suggest it to me, I'll see what I can do!

Please, if you've followed this story, drop it a favorite as well!

Follow me on tumblr for more stuff concerning my stories and fandoms, too- my username is meridianpony, same as always!

Again, thank you so, so much everybody... and I'll see y'all in my next fanfic!

I love you guys!
