Chapter 17

Old Ritual

The train ride was uncomfortable but it was the fastest way, so Kaname didn't mind too much. It didn't mean he wasn't glad when the ride was over. Humans were staring at him and his group. He could hear their words. Kaname chose to ignore them.

"Kaname-sama, we should have taken a car even if it would have taken longer than the train" Aidou said. Humans were annoying, especially female ones.

"Aidou, we are only being watched. I doubt these people will approach us." Kaname didn't care about them. Truthfully, he only cared Yuuki.

"The day class started off by only gazing at us like this." Ruka objected. Again, male humans were looking her. They didn't deserve to look at her. She was from a noble line.

"Now that you mention it." Ichijo began talking in his thinking pose. "Kaname is the only one that is watched from a distance at the school. Maybe they instinctively understand that he is a fiendish creature wearing the skin of a beautiful human?"

"Takuma-sama!" Ruka called angrily. How could he dare to mock Kaname.

"Fiendish creature?" Rima asked. She only accepted Hanabusa's offer because Senri needed to visit his mother.

"Kaname-sama, Ichijo is saying those things about you" Hanabusa whined.

"Yes, I think he has hit the mark." Kaname was a monster among monsters. Did he care? The answer was simple. As long as Yuuki loved him and accepted him as he was, he didn't care about others. Still he needed loyal followers. "In any case, it is finally break time. Let's stop with the formalities Aidou." He hadn't included Ruka. It was better if she didn't forget who she was talking with or Kaname was sure his beautiful mate will show her why it wasn't a good idea to mess with her. The only reason Ruka was here was because of her family connection with the Aidou and Kain families.

The trip to one of Aidou's family mansions was quiet and comfortable. Hanabusa had made sure everything was ready before hand. The butler had told his father he was staying with Rima's family. Hanabusa knew his father wouldn't check it. After all, his father didn't care as long as he was near Kaname. It was the perfect time to observe everyone closely. Truthfully, Hanabusa was still struggling with what he had witnessed. His teachers had lectured him about a pureblood's power, especially the Kuran family's power but he always ignored it until that night. Now he knew Kaname would kill without a second thought if you were a threat.

The vampire council believed they were holding Kaname in a leash. Hanabusa could see it was far from the truth. Kaname was waiting for his move. He didn't know what will happen or what Kaname's plan was but he will follow him. His butler settled all of his guests easily. It wasn't the first time they came here to relax. Kaname didn't like to stay with Ichiou, the monster who controlled the vampire council. Even the man's grandson hated him. His thoughts were interrupted by Ruka's words.

"Kaname-sama hasn't tried to go home to his mansion. Ever since we started life in the moon dorm, even during the holiday breaks, he never goes to his home."

"I understand how he feels. All Kaname-sama has, is under the control of the council. He is being controlled by Ichiou under the guise of kindness." Hanabusa knew they wanted the Kuran family's power. "Plus, the mansion holds memories of his parents. It might be hard for him." Hanabusa never forgot how Kaname was affected from his parents suppose suicide. His attitude changed from warm to cold.

"I am going to look at the garden with Rima." Ruka stated. She didn't like the conversation.

Hanabusa shrugged his shoulders. He loved Ruka like a family member but he could see she was dreaming about the wrong things. Kaname would never cheat on Yuuki. He hoped Ruka would come to her senses before Kaname's patience ran out.

"Hey Hanabusa, where is Ruka?" Akatsuki asked after entering the room and not seeing her.

"She said she and Rima were going to go look at the garden."

Akatsuki left after them immediately. His feelings for her were common knowledge. He was real a love sick fool. He had known Ruka's love for Kaname but he still loved her.

"Hey, it is boring when you are quiet." Ichijo claimed, poking Hanabusa's cheek. Hanabusa was in deep thought, so he ignored Ichijo. Kaname entered the room. "Kaname, you should have brought Yuuki-chan."

Kaname glared at Ichijo. He couldn't help it. He would prefer spending more alone time with Yuuki, but he was stuck here without his mate. "Chairman wouldn't allow it." Even if Kaien allowed it, Kaname wouldn't bring her here. He would rather take her on a vacation. He was unhappy being without her.

"It's my fault that Kaname's mood is sour. He sure is short tempered." Ichijo whispered to Hanabusa. He thought mentioning Yuuki would help ease Kaname's mood. It looks like he was wrong.

"He can hear you" Hanabusa whispered back, sweat dripping from his face.

"Aidou, what were you thinking about?" Kaname asked, looking at him. His eyes were intense. "If it is hard to say don't worry about it."

"Umm…" Hanabusa was fighting with himself. In the end he decided to ask what was always bothering him up for years. "Can I ask one thing?"

"What?" Kaname said, uninterestingly.

"Your parents Mr. and Mrs. Kuran, why did they commit suicide?"

The atmosphere became tense. Ichijo covered Hanabusa's eyes with both of his hands. "Idol-kun, Kaname has issues with this topic so…" he tried to close the subject.

"I don't mind Ichijo." Kaname said truthfully. Juri and Haruka were great persons but they took away his mate from him so he was only a little bit sad. "If you are going to be asking then I suppose you already know the answer. A pureblood vampire's life is much longer than those of the noble class and there's no chance of dying from disease or an accident. Besides living a long life, there are only two ways of dying which are only either suicide or murder." Kaname had never committed suicide. Now he was glad for that or his beautiful mate would be someone else and even thinking that was killing him.

"Mr. and Mrs. Kuran didn't seem like the type to commit suicide." They were young by pureblood standard and their son was young too. Hanabusa's heart was pounding. He was scared of hearing his suspicion confirm but he needed to hear it because he promised himself to protect Kaname till the end. It was fine, even if he exposed the bloody past of the Kuran family.

"Indeed, my parents were murdered."

"Kaname-sama's parents Mr. and Mrs. Kuran were murdered." Hanabuse repeated, squeezing his hands. "Who killed them? You cannot take away a pureblood's life that easily. Don't tell me the one who did that is that mad woman?"

"Aidou you would be better off if don't know more than this." Kaname warned, putting his chin on his hand.

"But why Kaname-sama?" Hanabusa was up before he was thinking. "Then why did you give me a part of the truth?"

"I figured that if I told you nothing, you would act rashly on your own but I mustn't tell you more than this for now so there won't be another senseless death." Aidou was a great piece on his chessboard. Kaname didn't wish to lose it. He could even admit to himself, Aidou grew on you like a fungus.

"I want to use my powers for Kaname-sama" Hanabusa yelled.

"Aidou don't say such things." Ichijo tried to calm him down by holding his shoulder. Seeing Hanabusa's attention was on him, he continued. "Sorry, but not now."

"Yes, I understand." He sighed. It wasn't the right time. "I am sorry Kaname-sama!"

"It is alright"

"Please excuse me" Hanabusa needed to think.

"Aidou, at first I thought you were thinking I had killed my own parents." His words shocked Hanabusa. "To tell the truth, the fact that you didn't, made me happy."

Hanabusa was sitting on his bed, looking at many different books. After the talk, he had with Kaname, he couldn't sit still without doing something so he decided to do his own search. That night Kaname had hinted, Shizuka had come to the school for Kaname's blood. They also had hinted that someone was after them. What if it was the same person who had killed Mr. and Mrs. Kuran?

You needed to have a great motivation for going after a pureblood. They were too powerful to kill so most never took that risk and the vampire council never made a statement of the Kuran's death. Suicide was a rumor the council neither confirmed nor denied. Shizuka had been in the vampire hunter's hit list but Council had sent their dog after Zero. Why hadn't they done anything about the Kuran's? They had been far more important than Shizuka.

Akatsuki came inside his room with a bunch of red roses. His cousin was a mess and Akatsuki was sure Hanabusa was putting his nose some place it didn't belong. "What is that? What odd books are laying all over your bed?"

"These are records of the evening parties of our patronage and our family trees. I am searching for people who could possibly have been enemies of the Kuran family. Then I will finally find out about Kaname-sama's secrets for sure."

"Well, that is dangerous." Akatsuki said not knowing what to say. He could see his cousin's mind was set on this and he knew he couldn't change his mind.

"Yeah, I know but I have a real bad feeling about all of this." Hanabusa was sure the killer was still outside and will come after Kaname. It was powerful enough to kill two purebloods. He knew he wasn't a match so he needed enough information for a good plan to protect Kaname. Maybe he should talk with Yuuki. He didn't forget her resemblance with Juri Kuran. He had been a mere child when he had met with Mrs. Kuran but she was someone you couldn't easily forget. She knew too much and Hanabusa would bet all of his family fortune that she was the only person Kaname fully trusted.

Kaname had felt it. Rido Kuran was finally ready to make his move. It looked like his body was almost healed.

"Kaname-sama I have returned" Seiren said, bowing slightly. She had followed Senri Shiki as her orders from Kaname because his mother had called for him. Senri's mother wasn't in her right mind after she had an affair with Rido Kuran who was Senri's father. She never cared for her son. Seiren had watched him closely. He had gone to his mother's uncle who was on the vampire council.

"Welcome back Seiren. How was it?" Kaname already knew the answer.

"I watched them, my lord." The message was clear.

"I see" His power destroyed the red roses Ruka had brought from the garden. He was too angry to control his powers. "It would have been nice if he had slept forever." Rido will come after Yuuki and Kaname couldn't kill him. He hoped he wasn't making a mistake by letting Zero live. "Dismissed!"

Rising from his seat Kaname went to his room. Laying on the bed, he closed his eyes. He wished he was at Yuuki's side where he belonged. Leaving her behind had always been painful for him. He felt alone like the old times without her. The times he wished to forget. He wasn't that Kaname anymore, who hadn't appreciated life. He had a mate now. A mate who loved him. Yuuki! He would burn this world for her. She just needed to name it and Kaname would get it for her.

A vision hit him. He had left a bat behind so he could watch Yuuki. The bat only sent him a vision if something important had happened. Concentrating the vision Kaname watched two cloaked figures coming near the house. He heard their claim. He saw them entering the house and later Kaien put them in the day dorm. He needed to talk with Kaien. He cannot let two strangers stay this close to Yuuki, especially while he wasn't there.

"Kuran-sama you have a phone call." The butler of the Aidou family said from the outside.

Kaname could guess who was calling him. Walking to where the phone was standing, Kaname picked it up. "Chairman?" His patience was too thin right now. He wanted to know what they talked about in the house.

"Kaname-kun I am happy to hear your voice." Kaien said cheerfully.

"Why did you allow them to stay?" Kaname asked without wasting a time.

"So you already know. I should've expected it." He really should have. When it came to Yuuki, Kaname lost all of his logic. Watching her every move was normal for Kaname. "A pureblood found a way to turn humans into level-B vampires. They are his only successful experiment."

"Where can I find him?" Kaname couldn't hide his excitement. He had tried to find solutions for the level-E problem in the past but he had only discovered if a pureblood gave its blood after biting the human, said human turned level-D.

"Dead! A fire killed him and destroyed his files. I checked with hunter association. Unfortunately, I was forced to mention about them. They asked me to send them so the association could experiment on them. You know I am not a hunter and I don't take orders well. I told them it wasn't my decision and my school is a neutral territory." Kaien didn't mention his dislike of the leader or his suspicion of him but he was sure Kaname already knew it.

Kaname was sad to hear the man was dead but he could find the solution by doing his own experiments. If hunter association knew about them, their leader would tell the vampire council immediately so Ichiou would demand them. What a mess? "You still didn't answer me?"

"Hehehe, didn't I?" Kaien asked laughing shamelessly. He thought Kaname would forget his question.

"Kaien!" Kaname warned. His voice was cold and commanding. He wanted answers and he wanted them now.

"There was a problem with his cure. They need a connection with a pureblood. They said it was painful after their bond had been broken by their master's death. They said they felt a powerful presence and they followed it."

"Let me guess, it was coming from Yuuki." Why was it always Yuuki? It was like trouble always finds her.

"Yes, they bonded with her. Now they are under her. I believe it will be good for her. You cannot be always there to protect her Kaname."

"I know." And he still hated that. As her mate, it was Kaname's job to protect her. He closed the phone.

Going back to his room, Kaname took out paper and pencil. He needed Yuuki. He couldn't call her so he will settle with a letter. He wished to have Yuuki's attention on him. Kaname knew he was greedy. He hated uncontrollable pieces on his chessboard especially near his mate.

My Dear Girl,

Saying goodbye to you always leaves me sad. I wish I could spend all of my time by your side. Staying away from you becomes harder every time I leave. I am leaving my breath, my heart, and my soul with you. Look after them for me please, because only you can keep them going.

Please at least write to me so I can hear from you. I am selfish Yuuki. I want your time, even for a little bit. Write to me about your day, your thoughts even about your homework. I don't care as long as you write to me.

Next time I propose to take you anywhere you wish to go. Only you and me. A real vacation. Pick a place for us.

Kaname

He called his bat and gave the letter to him. The bat found Yuuki in the twins' room. Yuuki was with two strangers in the middle of the night alone. Yuuki would never cheat on him, Kaname knew this but it didn't mean he wasn't feeling jealous. Who were they to spend alone time with his Yuuki while he was stuck in here. It wasn't fair. Yuuki should be at his side where she truly belonged. His turmoil ended with his bat's arrival. It was holding a letter, Yuuki's reply.

My Love,

I hope you are looking after my heart, my soul and my breath as well because I give them to you freely. I will cherish everything you give me so never worry about any part of yourself and never doubt my love for you. Like I said before, my body, my heart, my blood and my soul belong to you. You never need to content yourself with a little bit of my time. You can have all of it.

As for my day I met two strange people. They are twins and they were humans before but now they are Level-B vampires. Can you believe it? I asked permission to do a few tests so I can find the solution. They agreed. I know my father informed you and the hunter association. I am not happy for the latter. I know they will leak this out to the vampire council and I am sure they won't like this. A human being a level-B without any effort. They will take this as a great crime. After all, they tried to keep their blood as pure as possible. I don't like the hunter association or vampire council but I know I cannot do anything. I am not powerful. I will send my test results to you.

I would like to travel around the world and I wouldn't mind where, as long as you are with me, so surprise me.

Your Dear Girl

Kaname smiled. She was too much like him. He understood her worries about the vampire council and hunter association. Kaname always believed hunters were necessary but his Yuuki never liked them. If it comes to it, he would destroy them. He wouldn't care that in the past he had been ready to sacrifice his life for creating them. Yuuki's happiness was more important than them so killing them all would be a small sacrifice.

Yuuki, Ichiru and the twins were sitting in the living room. Kaien and Zero had business so they had left them alone. Normally Yuuki would use this opportunity to put wards around the sun dorm and the mansion. The problem was she didn't know when they will come so she couldn't risk it. Getting caught wasn't worth it at this time. Putting up a rune based ward was a delicate job. After hearing Yuuki was alone with only her loyal guard dog (it was twins' words, not hers), the twins immediately came to her side ignoring Zero's threats. Who cared about Zero's orders? It looked like no one in the house. It was the perfect time to make plans with her friends. Just because Yuuki agreed to wait for Kaname's plan for their uncle, it didn't mean she cannot make plans for their future. After all Kaname was doing the same thing. Of course he wouldn't call them his friends.

Yuuki wasn't worried about Rido. He was a simple problem and she already had a solution for that. Kill him, simple solution for a simple problem. Complicating things was unnecessary. The main problem was vampire society. Vampire council had too much power while purebloods didn't care about anything and nobles only cared for money and power. They all forgot the meaning of being a vampire. Ironically, they were acting like the humans that they so loathed. After all greed was of a human nature and Yuuki saw how greed destroyed societies. The magical world was a great example. As a pureblood vampire it was her and Kaname's job to show them their mistakes. The Kurans were the rulers of the vampires. Just because her ancestors gave up their throne didn't mean they lost their power.

Normally Yuuki would try to find a peaceful way to change vampire society but she hated most of them. Hate was powerful word and emotion. Yuuki never entered the vampire society. She heard stories from her parents and Kaname but she couldn't help herself. She really hated them for just one reason. They weren't cherishing their mates. Most vampires even refused to have a relationship with their mate and their reasons for that were laughable. They believed their noble blood will tarnish. As long as you mated with your mate, the children will take after the powerful side of the genes. She couldn't get over their indifference to their mates. She left her own world without looking back for a mate. She didn't know what was waiting for her or if she would she like her mate but she took every risk for unconditional love and after getting to know Kaname, she never regretted it. Kaname was her everything. She would destroy the world for him.

Gently Yuuki rubbed her temples. Thinking about them was giving her headaches. Right now she was alone with George, Fred and Ichiru, it was the perfect time for talking. She served them hot tea.

"I need to put protection runes around the sun dorm and our house." She couldn't postpone it anymore. Rido was awake and Yuuki was sure he will come here for her. Vacation will be over in two weeks.

"One of us can do it easily." Fred said, drinking tea. The smell was divine and the taste was delicious.

"Vampires and hunters can feel the runes so I developed undetectable ones but until the power settles down they can feel it. If my father or Zero finds it, they will destroy it immediately."

"You need me to distract them and take them off campus." Ichiru stated, understanding where the conversation was going.

"Yes!"

"I think it is time for our man day."

"Man day?" the twins asked together. They were barely holding their laughter but you could feel their amusement.

"Don't say anything." Ichiru and Yuuki said together. The name was Chairman's fault. Zero had tried to change it forcefully but the name had stuck.

"Are we allowed to join in on the famous man day?" George teased. He couldn't help it. The name was calling them to mock it.

"We have Zero." Ichiru pointed out the obvious. Hearing the name the twins shuddered. Zero was watching them like a hawk. Ichiru was sure his brother was waiting for an excuse to kill them and he would bet the twins knew this too. It didn't stop them messing with his brother. Messing with people was their hobby.

"We're out."

"Yeah, who would want to go on a man day when you can spend time with an angel?"

That managed to piss off Ichiru. Yuuki was his angel. He glared at them showing his displeasure. The twins didn't back down so they entered a three way glare match. Yuuki sighed. Taking her tea she tried to take a sip but the cup blew up before it could touch her lips.

"Yuuki!" three voices yelled at the same time in a panic. They were at her side looking for an attack.

"I am fine" Her hand and clothes were wet from the tea but the pieces didn't cut her. "It was my power."

"Why would your power blow up a cup?" Ichiru asked.

"I don't know," Yuuki admitted unhappily. She hated not knowing.

George took his own cup and smelled it carefully. The taste was normal and he couldn't smell anything nasty. "It smells fine."

"I make the tea from the herbs I grew so I am sure it isn't poisonous." Yuuki would detect a poison.

"But your magic wouldn't act up if something wasn't wrong with the tea." Fred clarified. Yuuki's magic was always protective of its master. It wouldn't act without a reason.

"Maybe it was just an accident"

"There is a way to figure it out." Fred took the kettle and poured the tea into an empty cup. Like before the cup blew up when it came too near her. "Still believe it is an accident."

"No but I don't understand why my magic is acting up like this."

"Do you know any side effects from drinking this tea?" George asked. Some of the ingredients could be harmful.

"Unless you have high blood pressure or are pregnant, there are no side effects. I created this tea. I would know if it is harmful." She was drinking this tea for years and she was fine.

One word was enough to send them into panic mode. Their mouth's fall down and they didn't even think of closing them. Seeing their faces Yuuki frowned. She didn't get why they were acting like this. They were acting weird like her magic.

"What?" Yuuki was losing her patience.

"You said the tea was harmful for pregnant people." Fred emphasized.

"Yes" she still didn't understand it.

"Pregnant women" This time George tried to give her a hint.

"What about pregnant women?"

'Really, is she really this dense?' three of them thought.

"Yuuki what is your gender?" Fred asked.

"You are talking nonsense and it is pissing me off."

"Humor us"

"You know I am a woman and I don't get how it is connected with my tea blowing up. Yes, I know it is harmful for pregnant woman so it…" Yuuki's voice died down. "Oh God! It can't be!"

'Finally!' their minds screamed but wisely they didn't say out loud. No sane person would want an angry Yuuki after them.

"I cannot be pregnant." Yuuki denied. She just couldn't. Come on they only did it one time. "Vampires, especially pureblood's cannot get pregnant easily."

"But technically you are a human right." Ichiru stated carefully. Yuuki was aging like a human so her reproduction system could be closer to a humans rather than a vampires. "Human woman get pregnant easily."

"He is right, you know." George agreed with Ichiru's theory and his shock was showing on his face before he could hide it.

"What is that face?" Ichiru yelled reading his thoughts from his face. "I can be reasonable too." The twins' faces showed their doubts. "I can be."

"He can!" Yuuki defended her friend. Her mind refused the process the information.

"See, my angel is agreeing with me," Ichiru said pointing at her. Knowing she was protecting him, made his insides warm.

"Why you are not freaking out Yuuki?"

"My mind is still refusing to believe it, even if you are giving me good reasons." Yuuki admitted. Her mind was crashing down slowly.

"Oh, come on Yuuki. It is not that hard to accept it. You should have played safe if you didn't want a surprise." Fred said without thinking. 'Shit!'

The temperature decreased and everything stilled. Yuuki's magic was cold and unmoving but her face was calm. George and Fred backed away. They had seen this before and it didn't end well for the one receiving it.

"Would you like to repeat that?" Yuuki challenged him. She was holding herself back before she did something she knew she will regret, like killing that big mouthed idiot. Fred shook his head negatively. She rubbed her eyes. "If I am really pregnant, it will change everything."

"Yeah, you and Kaname will be young parents." George didn't believe it would be too hard for them.

"I wish that would be our only problem." Putting her hands on her abdomen, she tried to sense any life inside it. She felt a joyful bubble. She was definitely pregnant. "Rido Kuran is awake and he will come here for me. You can all understand the situation I am in right now, right?"

Ichiru felt like a hand was squeezing his heart. He understood clearly. He came from a hunter family so his parents had taught them everything they knew about vampires and pregnancy was one of the topics too. Vampire pregnancy was delicate and anything could go wrong easily. Yuuki couldn't protect herself or she could lose her child and her own life. He explained this to the confused twins.

"What about your magic?" Her magic was protective of her so maybe it could protect the baby too. George and Fred didn't know vampire pregnancy was this sensitive.

"I could be only one month pregnant. There are ways to prevent miscarriages with magic but the baby needs to be at least sixteen weeks old and with my luck Rido will come before that time." The possibility of losing her baby was enough to reboot her mind. She would die before something happens to their unborn child. She couldn't lose her baby. Even if she needed to leave here and hide until the birth, she will do it. Then she will kill everyone who was a threat to her child.

"My angel?" Ichiru should comfort her but he couldn't shake off the fear he was feeling. He couldn't lose her. It would be worse than losing his parents.

"Calm down!" Yuuki ordered. She took control of the situation. Different plans were already forming in her mind. "If the worst happen, I will go into hiding until the baby is born. But first I need to talk with someone."

"Who?" Three of them asked together.

"An old friend."

At midnight every person was sleeping in the Cross household except one. Yuuki was sitting on her bed wide awake. Hours ago, she had learned she was pregnant. She still didn't know how to feel about this. Having a family was her dream. As Harry Potter it had been a pipe dream. Harry Potter never had a family. Now, she had an opportunity to have a family. She was never this close to her dream. A child from her mate was a miracle for her. A miracle that became real and Yuuki was sure Kaname will love this baby too.

Yuuki knew she should be over the moon right now but she wasn't stupid. Rido had been just one of the problems in this pregnancy. Her baby was a vampire while she was stuck in a human body and her baby wasn't just any vampire but a pureblood one. Some would think because she was human right now the baby would be a noble vampire but the seal didn't change her blood just seal off its power. The baby was a pureblood vampire and it was a problem. Her human body couldn't support this pregnancy too long. At the same time changing her into a vampire could kill the baby. The situation wasn't looking good so she needed to talk with Death. Yuuki was sure if there was any way to save her baby, Death would know it. He was her only hope. Time to call him.

"Death!"

Just like every time Death answered its master's call immediately. He was standing before her. "So you finally realized your condition."

"Of course you would know."

"I am Death. It doesn't matter how young it is, I can feel every life. After all, I will come after them one day."

"I am hoping it will not happen for a long time both for myself, my mate and our children." Yuuki said her desire. She never feared Death but no need to die before living a full life. After all, this life was Death's own gift to her. Wasting this life would be rude of her.

"I am aiming for the same." Death wished to see his master happy. Of course he wanted to see the chaos his master will bring this world, no need to destroy his fun without even beginning. He also knew why she had called him. Yuuki was always a smart person so it wasn't hard to guess she had noticed the risks.

"As a human I cannot support this pregnancy too long but turning me back into a vampire is also impossible without harming the baby. I don't know what to do." It sounded worse than she thought when she spoke of her fear out loud.

"Turning is your only option. After you become a vampire, you can protect yourself and your baby well." Death suggested. Hiding was a good plan but something could always go wrong. Rido could find them or she could have health problems which they couldn't go to a doctor, if they didn't wish to be found out.

"Baby?" Yuuki asked, hugging to her abdomen.

"You know I always find it funny how the magical world forgot their family histories. They all feared the Black family but even the old families forgot they were afraid before the magic label of dark or light. No, they were feared for their creative way of creating spells and rituals."

"I never know that." Yuuki loved learning about history and she had read almost all of the books about her family history.

"Like I said, it was forgotten. Even the family forgot their own way but I didn't and there was a ritual you would like to know." Yuuki's curiosity increased but she didn't interrupt. "In the past, one head of the family lost all of his sons and his wife was already thirty eight years old. As you know, in the past marriages were magically binding so he couldn't sire a child from another woman. His wife could still give birth but as it is it was risky and not enough. He had already lost four sons and they could end up having a daughter. His only thought was he couldn't allow his line to end with him."

"In the old ages, even with magic and a long life a witch cannot have a child over the age of forty. The wife could have only two children and it would be pushing it. I am saying there could be a fifty percent chance the child would be female."

"That is why he created a ritual. The ritual simply cuts the pregnancy's progress in half by speeding up the pregnancy so that each day from the start of the pregnancy that passes counts as two, and it is safe to use. In three years, they had three sons and one daughter."

Yuuki was impressed. She could see the benefits of the ritual. She just didn't get how cutting the pregnancy progress in half would benefit her. "How will using this ritual help me?"

"The same head of the family created another spell. This time for the safety of his unborn children. The spell creates a magical protection around the womb, so miscarriage is almost impossible but the spell is only effective when the baby is sixteen weeks old. Right now your baby is four and half weeks old. If you use the ritual immediately you will nine weeks pregnant."

"With your math, I will only need three and half weeks after using the ritual before I can use the spell."

"Exactly." Death was happy to see his master was following his plan. "And you have still two weeks of your vacation. Rido possessed his son's body and Ichiou believes he is ready to attack. Rido needs blood from you or Kaname before he gets his old power back so he will come here with the vampire council backing him up." Death told her the situation. He was awaiting the battle excitedly, but now he was trying to find ways to keep his master safe.

"Don't worry, I will give you a battle you will love to watch Death." Yuuki promised after reading his mind. "I need to be careful for three and a half weeks. I don't believe my uncle will attack right after arriving. Ichiou would force him to observe first. The vampire council's information on the school isn't much. My father and Kaname have made sure of that so for an attack plan they need more information first."

"Or you can release the twins for chaos." Death loved the chaos and the twins were good at bringing it.

"Is that the reason you picked them?" Harry Potter had cared about them but he hadn't been close with them. Luna and Neville had been his friends and George had said they had died too. Yuuki was curious why Death had chosen the twins instead of Luna and Neville.

"Unfortunately not. Yuuki, you should understand not all people would accept being a vampire. You didn't care because you never discriminate someone for being something. Luna would love to be a vampire but she would have a hard time following you. It is the same for Neville too. He would try to adjust to a life as a vampire but he could never be a real vampire. They are too soft for this life."

"And the twins are not?" George and Fred had been light wizards.

"No, they wouldn't hesitate to kill someone to protect their loved ones and they loved the idea of being a vampire. They are like you."

"I think you are right. Thank you Death!"

"My master's wishes are my command." Death kissed Yuuki's head. "Go research the ritual and use it."

"Any tips?" Yuuki asked, showing her most innocent face.

Death laughed. "It is in the Black family library's diary section. Number ten."

Yuuki hugged him and kissed his cheek. Her baby will be safe.

The atmosphere was tense. George and Fred were feeling uneasy. Today, Ichiru forced Kaien and Zero to go out with him. They were having their 'Man Day'. It was Yuuki's order so she could use the ritual she had found in her library. They were sure Death was the one who gave her the idea. If it was Death's idea, they shouldn't be worried. After all, who could know better than Death if it was safe or not, but logic wasn't with them and they were worried.

"Did you bring everything I asked for? We don't have much time. Kaname's bat will be back soon and I can bet all of my fortune Zero will find a way to come home early."

"Calm down Yuuki! We brought everything you asked. See?" Twins said together showing a dagger and a bowl.

"I am calm!" It looked like she was trying to convince herself. Her hands were shaking. Deep down Yuuki knew she was scared. It wasn't about her life. It was about her baby's life. One small mistake would kill her and Kaname's baby. "Let's begin!"

George took her left hand. They had read the ritual too, so they didn't make a mistake. Fred put the bowl under her left hand. Cautiously George cut her wrist. They held their breath. They weren't hungry but they didn't wish to push their luck. First, Yuuki would kill them than resuscitate them. After that, Kaname would kill them painfully. Fred filled the bowl with her blood. Using her power Yuuki healed the wound.

Yuuki took a deep breath. Taking the bowl from Fred, she drew the runes on the ground with her blood. The smell was making her hungry. Most likely her baby wanted blood and the only person whose blood would satisfy it wasn't here. It wasn't time to think these things. It took almost two minutes to finish drawing the runes. She gave the bowl to Fred. It was time to do the most disgusting part of the ritual. She laid down in the middle of the runes. She could feel the fresh blood on her skin and hair.

'Don't think about. Don't think about it…' Yuuki chattered in her mind. She wanted to throw up.

The ritual didn't need a spell to activate. It only needed her magic, so Yuuki pushed her magic into the runes. The blood glowed and a black fire arose. George and Fred were watching everything in amazement. Her skin absorbed the flame and she felt like all of her body was on fire. Her blood was burning. She bit her lips to hold in her scream. She was in pain. The fire went to her womb. She refrained herself from doing something about the fire. She trusted Death so she wasn't scared for her baby. The runes settled inside of her womb and the fire died down. It was over. Yuuki opened her eyes. She could feel the baby. Everything was fine. The ritual was successful.

Yuuki tried to get up but her body refused to cooperate with her. Her body was weak. "Little help here!" Yuuki cried for help.

Immediately, George was beside her. Gently he helped her to get up. He put her arms around his neck and put his arms under her knees then lifted her body.

"I can walk" Yuuki protested. It was embarrassing.

"But you don't need to." George took her to her bedroom and laid her down. "Rest. We will put protection runes on the house and sun dorm."

"I can…"

"Yuuki, you are not alone. Death sent us so you don't need to do this small thing. Rest while you can." A sly grin formed on his face. "or you will be exposed to Zero's rant with a headache."

"Oh no, how could I live with that?" Yuuki asked dramatically, holding her heart.

"I am warning you."

"Thank you, my good friend."

"You smell pregnant." George stated.

"I should be. Vampire's pregnancy is different from humans. For two months the baby is a mixture of our blood. Because I drank from Kaname, no one suspected pregnancy." Yuuki explained. There was a way to hide her pregnancy. It was the same thing Juri had used. The problem was she didn't wish to hide her baby.

"But now the baby is nine weeks old, so our noses can pick out the pregnancy." George clarified. Yuuki nodded. "We will come back soon."

George left the room, leaving her alone. Yuuki put her hand on her belly. She knew it was early to feel the baby's movements but it was calming her.

"You know I never had a mother for long or a father." She added. Parents were always a sore subject for her. "I know both of my parents loved me but they still left me. As Harry I never had anything. My life wasn't mine. I had duties to a world. A world that never gave me anything but despair. No one saw the real me. They never cared. I was nothing but a pawn. Letting Harry die was my best decision. Yes, I still don't know much about the love of a parent but I have Kaname. For the first time in my life I am not alone. I know Kaname will always love me and I know I can trust him. He will never let me feel alone." She stroked her belly. "I know Kaname will be a great father to you. I don't know if I can but I can promise you, I will not let even death separate us from you. You will never suffer like me. I will destroy every threat to you. I will accept and love you the way you are." Yuuki promised to herself and her baby.
