Percy POV

"Thalia what are you doing here?" I groaned. Couldn't she just leave me alone?

"I just want to talk to my favorite cousin." She smiled at me sweetly.

"You talked to me last night." I mumbled, getting really sick of her need to separate me and Annabeth.

"Yes and I just want to see if you have thought about what we talked about last night."

Flashback

I was sitting up in my room after dropping Annabeth off when my phone started ringing. I got up from my bed and made my way over to my desk where my phone sat. I glanced at the caller ID, seeing the name Thalia and her face staring back at me.

"To what do I owe the pleasure Pinecone Face?" I asked her when I answered.

"Well Kelp Head, I just wanted to talk about prom. Who are you taking?"

"Thals, you know that I haven't asked anyone yet."

"Well you might want to hurry it up because it is two weeks away and I don't want my little cousin to go without a date."

"Like you care." I laughed.

"Of course I care. Now do you have anyone in mind?"

I thought for a second, I knew that I wouldn't be able to take Annabeth since she's with Luke, even though I would prefer to take her. "No not really."

"Well then it's your lucky day Jackson because I have someone in mind for you."

"Who?"

"Rachel of course! She's new here, has no one to go with and plus you and her go way back." Thalia said it with such enthusiasm that it was kind of scary.

"We don't go way back, sure we know each other but you're making it sound like we are the best of friends."

"Well you could be. You know if you just gave her a chance."

"Why are you so intent on me taking Rachel to prom?"

"Because Percy, I see the way you look at Annabeth and I just know that it won't end well with you two with Luke in the picture. I just think that taking Rachel is s good idea. At least give her a chance. Who knows, you might even like her company better than Annabeth's."

I sighed, knowing that she wouldn't give this up without a fight. And to be honest my fights with Thalia usually didn't end well. "Fine I will ask her then."

"Wise choice Kelp Head."

"Only if you stop annoying me whenever I'm with Annabeth and you accept the fact that we are friends."

She was silent for a moment before she groaned. "Argh, fine. But don't come crying to me when she turns on you."

"Thals please."

"I'm going to make sure that you ask Rachel. You can't back out of this now."

"I won't."

End Flashback.

"Have you asked her yet?" she lowers her voice so only I can hear her while taking me away from the park bench.

"No not yet, and I thought you agreed to stop annoying me when I'm with Annabeth."

"And I thought you agreed to ask Rachel to prom and seeing how that hasn't happened yet I can do what I want." She smirked at me.

"How did you even know I would be here?"

"You mentioned last night how you were meeting up with Annabeth and I know that you used to come here with…" she trailed off. She didn't need to finish the sentence, I knew who she meant.

"Why didn't you just call me? Why come to me?"

"I did call you dumb ass. Check your phone." She jerked her head at me, indicating for me to grab my phone out of my pocket.

Sighing, I grabbed my phone out of my pocket and turned it on. On the screen was five missed calls from Thalia. "Haha, sorry it was on silent."

She just rolled her eyes. "I'm surrounded by idiots."

"Well if you don't mind I would like you to leave now."

"Not until you call Rachel."

"Thalia you can't be serious!"

"You know I'm serious."

"No. I can't do that to Annabeth, I've brought her here to spend time with her as friends." I added that last bit when Thalia raised her eyebrows. "And I can't go off talk to you for way too long and then make a phone call."

We started at each other until finally Thalia gave up. "Fine." She threw her hands into the air. "But please do it soon before anyone else asks her."

"Yes I've already told you I would, now can you please leave?" I turned around, not bothering to see if she did leave, and sat down next to Annabeth again.

"I'm really sorry about that, Thalia can be really annoying when she wants to be." I apologized.

"Oh it's fine, I'm sure she had her reasons." Annabeth forced a smile.

"No she didn't. You don't have to defend her. No actually you shouldn't defend her, she needs to learn how to mind her own business." I said, starting to get angry at Thalia and her constant urge to annoy me.

"Don't worry," Annabeth now smiled sincerely, "she's gone now."

"Yeah you're right. Sorry." I smiled sheepishly at her. "Argh, gods, I feel terrible. This is a terrible start to the day."

"Seriously, stop worrying about it." She smiled that gorgeous smile of hers again and placed her hand on top of mine. I looked down at our hands, surprised by her action. Noticing my surprised expression she quickly took her hand away and blushed.

She cleared her throat before talking. "Um, so where are you planning on going for lunch?" she asked me, her voice full of confidence and no sign of a blush o her face, leaving me wondering whether I imagined it or not.

"Well I know this nice little café just down the road called Olympus, and the best bit is they serve breakfast all day." I replied smiling widely.

"You seem pretty happy about the all day breakfast."

"Well you know what they say 'breakfast is the best meal of the day'."

Annabeth scrunched her eyebrows together and a smile came across her face. "No I think the saying is 'breakfast is the most important meal of the day,' not best."

"Eh, same difference." I replied, shrugging my shoulders. She laughed a little and sound of it made me want to kiss her like she kissed me back near the lake. She's got a boyfriend. A voice screamed inside my head. I was considering ignoring it when another thought popped into my head. Do you really want to stoop down to his level? No, definitely not. No matter how happy Annabeth made me and how much I hated Luke I am a better person than he is.

"Well," I said clapping my hands together and standing up, "I think we should get going, it's already 2:30 and I am starving, shall we." I said, extending my hand out in front, gesturing for Annabeth to get up.

A look of hurt crossed across Annabeth's face before it was quickly replaced by a smile. Hurt?

"We shall."
