Years Have Passed
"I don't how I'll face the day ahead of me when I believe that everything will be shattered
There won't be answers just lying around waiting for me on a silver platter."

Seto carefully walked over the piles of metal, arms out to keep his balance as best he could. Behind him, Ren held onto the back of his jacket, following his exact footsteps. She felt a little frightened about maneuvering through the old dam, but Seto seemed to know exactly where he was going. He passed through empty hallways like he owned the entire structure, but she could see his resolve break a little with every room he walked into. Wherever he was headed, the closer they got, the more upset he became. And she didn't like to see him that way. She didn't want to see him break. Seto had been brave with everything he did up to this point, so why was he suddenly so nervous?
They stopped in front of a large door, and she noticed that Seto's hand had opened his locket and removed a skull ring. He slipped it on his finger, kissing the piece of jewelry, and took a deep breath. Ren heard his breathing hitch as he pushed the door open. His shoulders tensed, and she looked around him to see what he was so wrecked about.
There, right across from the pair, was a body of a boy that looked no older than either of them. Seto walked to him, lightly picking up the father that sat on his chest. Taking in another deep breath, he finally spoke for the first time since the pair entered the dam. His voice echoed in the small room, bouncing off the many robot heads as his fingers lightly traced the texture of the feather in his hand. "It's been a while," he said with a sad smile.
Ren looked at him, eyebrow raised. "This is Ren," he continued, gesturing to the girl behind him. "Remember, I was telling you about a girl I had to find? That's her. I felt like you needed to meet her at some point." Seto turned and smiled at his friend. "Ren, this is Crow. He was my best friend."
"What happened to him?" she asked, taking a few steps to get closer to her partner.
"He said his battery died out, or something. I really—I don't know. He died to me." His face was glum and his eyes had lost their usual shine. "I loved him so much."
Ren smiled at him, feeling something tug at her chest as Seto leaned down and kissed Crow's lips carefully, seemingly afraid of breaking him if he put too much pressure. She watched as he ran a hand through his friend's hair, the ring sparkling in the faint light. Her eyes widened when she saw the small tears splash on the floor underneath Seto. "I loved him—love him so much…"
Ren sighed under her breath. How long had he been living with these broken feelings?
Two fanfictions in one day, both for different fandoms, however the genre is basically the same. I don't know what is with me and all this sadness these days. Huh. I hope my depression isn't kicking in. xD
