Chapter 49: Salvation.

10 Years Later:

"Daddy!" Penny's body smacked into Austin's leg, and she looked up at him with big needy eyes.

"No," Austin said, and he put the tool down on the workbench in the barn.

"But, daddy you didn't even know what I was going to ask!" She stomped her feet like she was still two years old.

"If you so much as mention Liam's name-"

"Please can I go on the supply run with him?"

"No!" He snapped. "You're nine years old!"

"He's ten and his daddy lets him," She moaned, holding on tighter to his leg.

"Dean and Sarah can bring up their son however they want to. I'm not going on the supply run, and neither is your mother, so, no you cannot go, do you understand?" He spoke sternly, and she stepped away from him.

"Meany!" She ran off, her long brown hair flowing in the breeze, as she flew out the barn door.

"How many times have I told you to talk to her more gently," Ally leaned against the barn door, with Violet on her hip.

"'ello daddy," She giggled, and wriggled down from Ally's hip, then raced over to Austin, and into his arms. "Look, I drew dis for you," She waved the piece of paper in front of his face, and Austin stared down at the drawing.

"Is that me?"

"And mama," She beamed at her dad, and she rested her head on his shoulder.

"That's very good Violet," He kissed her head, and she squeaked.

"Thank you daddy."

Austin looked over his shoulder, and saw Nevil walking into the barn. Tall and strong, brown hair to his jawline, and his long machete knife on his belt. He creeped up behind him, and shouted "boo" in Violet's ear making her scream.

"Nevil, you're twenty grow up!" Ally scolded, and he grinned like a child.

"Poo-head!" Violet screamed.

"Don't teach her things like that!" Ally snapped.

"It wasn't me," Nevil rolled his eyes, then Jess walked into the barn, holding Penny's hand.

"No," Austin said straight away.

"I'm going on the supply run-"

"I don't care its bad enough you're going," He grumbled.

"I'm eighteen, not six," Jess retorted.

"You act like a six year old," Nevil muttered, and Jess elbowed his ribs.

"I'll keep her safe," Jess said. "We're only going to town, it's ten minutes from here."

Penny let go of Jess's hand and ran to Austin, throwing her arms around his leg. "Please daddy."

Austin looked at Ally, and she smiled, nodding her head. Austin picked Penny up, and sat her down on the workbench. "You don't leave Jess's side."

"Thank you daddy!" She squealed, and threw her arms around him.

"I promise I'll keep her safe," Jess helped Penny down from the workbench, and they both left the barn

"Mom!" Nathan ran into the barn, and raced over to Ally. "Why does Penny get to go?"

"Nathan-"

"I'm stronger than her. It's not fair!" He crossed his arms over his chest, and Violet giggled. "What are you laughing at?" He snapped.

As Nathan got older, Ally had realized he had inherited Austin's bad temper. It always seemed to get the better of him, but Ally had been trying to teach him ways to calm down. "Nathan, don't speak to her like that."

"It's not fair!" He growled.

"C'mon," Austin walked over, and threw Nathan over his shoulder.

"Dad!" He hollered, and banged his fists against his back. "Dad!"

They both left the barn, and Ally put Violet down, so she could stumble around. Nevil followed behind her, getting ready to catch her if she falls.

"Where's Billy?" Ally asked.

"With Jasmine…you know…"

"I know," Ally smirked. "Nevil, are you ever going to tell Jess?"

"Tell her what?" He asked, a look of confusion on his face.

"That you love her."

"She knows I love her-"

"Not as family. I know that you're in love with her," Ally explained, and Nevil froze.

"I don't know what you're talking about."

"I think you do," Ally said. "There's nothing wrong about it. I know that you two both call Austin and I, mom and dad, but there's no blood relation between you and Jess, there's nothing wrong about the way you feel."

Nevil stared blankly at Ally, and she walked over to him, placing her hand on his arm. He stared down at her, and she quickly kissed his cheek.

"I'm not saying you have to tell her, but you never know, she might feel exactly the same way," Ally flashed him a smile, then picked up Violet. "I'll give you time to think."

Ally walked out of the barn, and looked around at the cabins. One of the doors flew open, and a heavily pregnant Jaime, stormed out. She tried her best to get down the steps, and Ally smiled at the annoyed looked on her face. Jaime gave up, and just collapsed onto the wooden steps.

"Are you okay?" Ally asked, and she made her way over.

"What do you think!?" She hissed, then she sighed, rubbing her eyes. "Sorry…I didn't get much sleep last night."

"It's okay," Ally smiled at her, then she put Violet down on the grass to play. The cabin door opened behind them and Gregory walked out.

"You," Jaime growled at him. "You did this to me!"

"As you can tell we're both enjoying this pregnancy," Gregory remarked sarcastically, and sat down between them on the step. "And it takes two to tango," He smirked at Jaime, and she rolled her eyes.

"It's all going to be over soon Jaime, you're about to burst," Ally said.

"It's probably just all the food I'm being forced to eat," She glared at Gregory.

"Do you want the baby to be healthy?" He retorted.

"Yes, I do, but you're not the one that has to push a fat baby out of your vagina!" She snapped, and Gregory threw his arm over her shoulder, then kissed her head. "You're a pain in the ass."

"I know," Gregory laughed.

Ally left the pair alone, and walked up to the farmhouse where some of the group were getting ready to go on the supply run. Violet ran ahead, and collided with Wayne's leg.

"How are you doing sweetheart?" Wayne picked her up, and Violet beamed up at him.

Ally looked over at Penny, who was climbing into the back of the truck with Liam. Ally walked over, and patted her shoulder.

"Hi mommy," She wrapped her arms around her neck, then nuzzled her face into the gap.

"Don't do anything stupid," Ally rubbed her hand up and down her back, then Penny pulled away.

"I won't," She stuck up her little pinky, and Ally wrapped hers around it. "I promise."

"Stay by Jess's side," Ally kissed her check, then Penny went to sit by Liam.

Wayne walked over and handed Violet to her. He patted Ally's head, then ran a soothing hand over her hair. She smiled at him, and he returned it.

"I won't let anything happen to her," Wayne kissed her cheek, then got into the truck. They drove off, and Ally waved goodbye to them as they disappeared down the dirt road.

"Where's dada?" Violet asked.

"I don't know, shall we go and find him?" Ally put her down, and let her lead the search.

So much had changed over the years, but the change was mostly good. A few years ago they lost Mimi after she careless ran off and got bitten by a creeper, but that was the last incident they had with the creepers. They seemed to be disappearing, dying, and that was a good thing, it gave them more freedom.

Billy was all grown up, and head over heels in love with Jasmine. Derek had parted ways with Roxana, and was happy on his own. Roxana had, had a reality check, and her attitude had changed. She had wanted to go back to Ronny, but he had already moved on, and he and Kira are expecting a baby soon.

Trish and Dez were back to normal. Both of them were happy, and married. They had all decided to have a small ceremony for them, and it gave a sense of normality back into the zombie world. Elliot and Mary had another son called Andy two years ago, and he liked to play with Violet a lot. Tom was close friends with Nathan, and he seemed to be able to get him to calm down when Nathan got too angry.

Sarah had finally stopped hating herself, and the fact that she had no hand. Dean still loved her even though Sarah had tried to give him many reasons not to, but now they had their own family to worry about, and at the end of the day they were happy together. Frederick was quite old now, but he was still standing strong. They almost lost him last winter, but somehow he had recovered fine, and now it was like he was twenty-five, running around like an athlete.

Wayne and Harriet were happy together, and Lizzy was all grown up, and with George. The pair were the cutest thing Ally had ever seen, and they never failed to brighten up her day. Kyle and Julie were both happy to see their children all grown up, Lexi was a little troublemaker, but Daniel had become her favorite interest at the moment, and both of them together was like a whole heard of creepers, they caused trouble wherever they went.

Lucas and Grace had another baby called Caitlin, and she was just a few years younger than Nathan, and Nathan had a small soft spot for her, as she didn't seem to be affected by his bad temper. Tess was Frederick's best friend, and within a few minutes of talking to the pair, they could have you in stitches.

Alice and Cal were married, and Alice was carrying their first child. Everyone was just happy, and Ally couldn't ask for anything more. They were all one big family, and they all had each other's back. It was a nice feeling.

Austin and Ally collapsed onto the couch in front of the fire. The kids were all in bed. After the supply run, Nevil had told Jess how he felt, and for the past two hours Ally had been dealing with an emotional Jess. She had just left the cabin to go and find Nevil to tell him that she felt the same.

Ally curled up against Austin, and he kissed the top of her head. She brushed her fingertips against his chest, and stared at the fire. Austin stroked her hair, and yawned.

"I can't believe we made it this far," Ally whispered.

"I know," He grunted.

"When I first arrived on the farm. I never thought I'd end up here with you. I hated you back then," She explained with a smile, and Austin laughed.

"I know you did. I hated you to," Ally moved and rested her chin on his shoulder, so she could look at him.

"I don't know what I'd do without you," She whispered. "I'd probably be dead."

"Me too," He whispered back. "Even though you're getting a little grey, I still love you," Ally punched his chest, and they both laughed.

"I'm not getting grey," She grumbled, nuzzling her face into his neck.

"Even when you do, I'll still love you," He kissed her head, and she yawned.

Both of them talked for a few more minutes, then slowly they began to drift off to sleep in each other's arms. An hour later, the cabin door creaked open, and Nevil and Jess walked in holding hands. They looked over at Austin and Ally asleep on the couch. Nevil held his finger to his lips, then grabbed the blanket from the back of the couch. He gently spread the blanket over them both.

They were safe now. Even if things went wrong, they'd all have each other.
