. . .

"Look what you did, idiot!" Sasuke snapped, referring to the girl hanging limply in Naruto's arms.

Naruto laughed nervously and backed up into his apartment, dragging Hinata inside and lowering her gently to the carpeted floor of his hallway.

"I don't know, she just collapsed," Naruto replied shrugging, knowing it wasn't the first time it had happened.

. . .

Bright eyes stared out a glass paned window watching the other children play in a park across the street with longing.

How she wished she could play down there with them but her father wouldn't let her. His answer, when she asked him, was always, "You have homework to do, get on with it."

She noticed a sad looking boy with spiky blonde hair who swung alone on the swing set. His head was hung dejectedly and the swing swung back and forth at a slow pace.

She frowned, she felt sad for him, none of the other kids were playing with him.

She realised however when she continued to watch him that it was he who did not want to play with the other children, a couple of which she'd seen come up to him and try cheer him up, but he said nothing and hung his head down again.

What was the matter with him? She was suddenly filled with determination to find out what was wrong, even though she knew she'd be scolded if she got caught.

She descended the massive staircase, slowly, careful not to make the stairs creek and alert anyone to her presence, and opened the door. She could only just reach the handle on her tippy toes.

It was the type of door that was easily opened from the inside, only needed to turn the handle, but from the outside it required a code, which she fortunately knew.

She went around the side of the building and out a small gate that also required a code, a different one however.

It didn't take her long to get to the playground, the road was never busy as it was a dead end and the only cars that came this way lived on the road. The parking for the park was on a road on the lower street.

She stopped next to the boy, but suddenly felt too shy to say anything to him. She knew she had speech problems, her father never stopped scolding her for it and she had been sent to many speech therapists to "fix the problem" none of which had made any progress.

Having only just noticed her, the boy looked up at her, unshed tears welling up in his bright blue eyes. The only noise he could make was a strangled "hmm?" sound that decidedly broke her heart.

"A-a-are you o-okay?" she asked, stuttering even more than usual.

He didn't know what to say to this small girl next to him and so he said nothing and hung his head once more, desperately trying to choke back the tears. The swing was now stationary his feet rooted to the ground keeping it that way.

She didn't say anything else, instead enveloping the boy in a hug. She could feel his resolve breaking as he started outright sobbing, but she didn't let go.

And that was how Hinata had met Naruto Uzumaki. On the day after his parents had died in a car crash and left him alone in the world.

After that she had snuck out every day to keep him company in the park where they talked about how he had been taken in by a friend of his father, Jaraiya and his girlfriend Tsunade and even occasionally played games together.

They had a close friendship and shared everything with each other.

However when she was 9, a few years after she had met Naruto, her family had dragged her with them to England, leaving her heartbroken at losing her only friend she'd ever been able to make, being homeschooled.

. . .

"-you see, and that's how I know her," she heard the end of Naruto's sentence as her eyes fluttered open. She looked around dizzily and pushed herself into a sitting position, momentarily confused as to where she was.

She felt eyes on her and turned her head to look back at both the boys, who were still standing in the doorway.

"Are you okay Hinata?" Naruto asked, moving to help her off the ground but being beaten to it by Sasuke.

"Y-yeah," she replied, blushing in embarrassment at how she had fainted again, like her stupid 9 year old self used to do when Naruto got too close to her. Was she really not over her childhood crush?

She must not be because he was the only boy who had ever had that effect on her. She thought back to that incident at the locker where she was almost sexually assaulted yet was able to keep a clear head and not faint regardless.

Yet all the blonde had to do was hug her and she became a blushing fainting mess.

Deciding the visit was over Sasuke quite literally dragged a very confused Hinata out of Naruto's apartment and back to his bike.

On the way back Hinata wondered why it seemed as though Sasuke was mad at her. What had she done to upset him? Maybe it was because she had fainted? Though that would be very harsh, it's not like she could help it.

But instead of going in the direction of her house he had yet again turned off onto another path, making Hinata worry again.

He continued along the path for only a few minutes before they came to a stop outside what she couldn't really describe as a house. In fact it looked more like a lair with graffiti and artwork spray painted along the walls. It wasn't ugly though, it was the type of graffiti that made a street corner look better and not worse.

She imagined a couple talented artists were responsible for it.

For some reason Sasuke stopped outside said building.

"Come," was all he said as he climbed off the bike.

Inside was well decorated with red and white furniture. There was a set of comfortable looking red couches on a plush red carpet. The carpet was decorated with fluffy white clouds.

There was a pool table with red felt lining the playing area to match the rest of the room.

There was also a large black flat screen TV and all the walls were a silver grey colour.

There wasn't a speck of dust in sight and to say it was well maintained was an understatement.

On the glass coffee table there were pencils and a sketchbook.

Awkwardly enough she recognised the face drawn on the page.

It was hers.

"Sasuke, what are you doing here?" she heard a familiar voice ask from a room she hadn't previously noticed.

It was the redhead from earlier, Sasori was it?

"Oh it's the hottie from art class. Hello," he said flirtatiously.

"Did you change your mind about the boyfriend thing and decide to visit us?" he spoke again sounding amused by her presence there.

Sasuke growled in annoyance but didn't do anything.

She went a dark red colour and looked away, only managing to shake her head.

He was from their school and she didn't want him to know anything.

She nearly jumped out of her skin when a hand landed on her shoulder.

"You, the one that ran away from me just now," said another voice she wish she didn't recognise. She could hear that he had that predatory smirk back on his face.

She just stared in shock when Sasuke quite literally slapped his hand off her shoulder, which enraged the boy instantly.

"Who the fuck do you think you are, Uchiha?" The boy said before swinging a fist right at Sasuke.

"Hidan," a deep velvety voice said from the other side of the room.

He literally stopped mid swing and retracted his fist back to his side.

"I think you answered your own question there," Sasuke said with an arrogant smirk.

She turned back to look at the owner of the earlier voice and she could hardly believe it.

Itachi Uchiha, heir to the Uchiha company.

He had a lean build, coal black eyes and long silky black hair that was pulled back into a low ponytail, leaving side bangs framing his face.

She thought he might have even been more attractive than Sasuke.

"Little brother, glad you could make it," He said smiling at him.

"Hnn, where is it?" he asked impatiently wanting to leave before anyone else came into the room somehow knowing Hinata.

Itachi walked over and handed him a neatly wrapped parcel.

It had blue and purple wrapping paper and was decorated with a lavender bow.

A present? She wondered who it was for.

"Thanks," he said and made to leave when yet another person entered the room.

"Hinata?" came the energetic voice of a long haired blonde she had also met earlier that day.

She didn't get to respond though because she was literally dragged out the door by a very annoyed Sasuke.

Deidara just stared after them with confusion.

"Why was she here?" he asked.

Sasori only shrugged in response and Itachi had already left the room at this point.

When he had finished dragging her to his bike he caged her against the seat with both his arms.

She squeaked with surprise at the sudden motion.

"Do you know everyone?" he asked sarcastically, annoyed with her for some reason.

It wasn't her fault that she attracted trouble all the time! He was the one that brought her here.

"N-no," She responded, pouting angrily at him.

Her face was a dark red shade both at the accusation and from all the unwanted attention she kept receiving.

She just couldn't get a break from all the crazy in her life.

He chuckled at her expression and let her go. Climbing onto the bike he handed her the spare helmet again and she begrudgingly climbed on.

She didn't know where they were going now but she hoped it was home, she couldn't handle anymore unwanted attention today.

Alas, while it was home it was not her home and she panicked slightly as he stopped outside his mansion again.

She remembered what happened the last time she was dragged here and it brought a tint of red back to her cheeks.

He climbed off the bike and stared at her impatiently.

"Are you coming?"

She shook her head; she was still wearing the helmet and obviously wanted to go home instead.

"Here's the thing though Hinata, it wasn't a question," he said, trademark smirk returning to his lips.

She made a high pitched noise and fumbled to get the strap on the helmet undone. She almost fell straight off the bike when she tried to climb off, due to the angle the bike was at with the stand down.

He chuckled at her and she just pouted again, face as red as a cherry.

He was so mean!

He interrupted her thoughts when he grabbed her arm and dragged her behind him for a second time that day.

Couldn't he just let her walk at her own pace? Apparently not.

She didn't expect to see what she did next. The house was decorated with bouquets of flowers, balloons, neatly set tables with food and cake and various delicious looking desserts. There was a big sign saying 'Happy Birthday Mikoto'

The place looked beautiful.

The maids lined up to great Sasuke and death glare at her.

She frowned again, wondering if they really hired these maids that were so rude to guests.

Maybe they all just volunteered to work here because they were obsessed with Sasuke. She giggled at the idea and Sasuke turned to her and raised an eyebrow. He didn't ask though, fortunately.

"It's my mom's birthday today. She's having some people over but we can just stay upstairs," he said.

They didn't even get to the staircase before they were stopped by a female voice.

"Sasuke, hello!" she said, and he was enveloped in a hug by a woman who looked to be in her late thirties.

She had dark hair and coal black eyes and she was absolutely beautiful.

He returned the hug and greeted her.

"And who is this?" she asked, pausing to study the girl half hiding behind him.

She was hoping she wouldn't be noticed but of course that never happened to her.

"A Hyuuga?" She asked, pausing before finishing, "You must be Hinata."

Hinata became flustered by how this woman knew who she was but figured everyone in rivalling companies knew about her shameful disowning by her father.

"H-hai," She responded, at this point she felt like her face was glowing and she just wanted the earth to swallow her up so she wouldn't have to deal with it anymore.

Much to her dismay she was enveloped in a hug. But it was warm and soft and she smelt like lotus flowers, one of her favourite scents.

"How could that Awful man disown such an adorable child?" She asked cupping Hinata's face between her hands.

She stared wide-eyed at this woman; she was so loving and nice. She was sure her own mother would have been nice too but she couldn't even remember her anymore.

Her dad however had never been nice to her as long as she could remember. He had never complimented her on anything she achieved and always expected more than what she was capable of.

It was disheartening and all the nurturing she had while growing up.

"Mom, stop!" Sasuke finally said, annoyed.

She let go of Hinata's face and returned her attention to Sasuke.

"I always knew my sons would have great taste in women, just like their father," She said, winking at the last part.

Sasuke groaned and grabbed Hinata's hand, dragging her up the stairs behind him.

"Bye Hinata, nice to meet you!" She shouted up the stairs behind them. Hinata was going to return the niceties but was dragged too far away to be heard.

Sasuke shut the door behind them and let go of Hinata's arm, walking over to his couch before lounging back and turning on the TV.

She stood there awkwardly unsure of what she should do. It was his room and she was scared to put anything out of place.

She was very bad when it came to other people, she had always been more comfortable in her own company, that, and the company of animals.

"Just sit down somewhere," he finally said.

She went and sat on the furthest side of the other couch. There were three in front of the TV two opposite each other and one that looked straight onwards at the TV; that was the one Sasuke was on.

"A-Aren't you g-going to take me home?" she asked finally. She was leaning back on the couch and pressing her index fingers together nervously.

He smirked at her and made eye contact.

"Actually no, I think you can stay here tonight," He said.

She nearly jumped out of her skin.

"W-what?" She asked, but it was more of a high pitched squeak than any actual words.

"I said you'll stay here tonight, and that is an order," he had a smirk on his face that she would almost describe as predatory, a lot like Hidan's.

She shook her head, face red and eyes tightly shut.

She couldn't stay here, she had homework that was at her house she had to do and no clothes with her to sleep in.

"I c-can't," she was going to explain why but she was too flustered to talk like a human being.

"Are you arguing with me Hi-na-ta?" he almost purred her name. Even so the threat was all there and her lips that had been slightly parted to explain herself closed instead and she just shook her head.

"Good."

Why was he so scary? She averted her eyes to the TV and curled her body closer to her on the couch. She had never stayed the night at anyone else's house, much less a boy's.

She wasn't very good at making friends but recently she had been getting a lot of attention without wanting it.

It was the reason she was in this mess. She didn't understand why she kept getting noticed, she'd never been in a school environment until she moved back to Japan, disowned.

And she didn't like the experience at all.
