You are my sunshine, my only sunshine you make me happy when skies are gray you'll never know dear, how much I love you Please don't take my sunshine away.

"I think it's this way." A young Naruto Uzumaki exited out of a forest of mystery while holding the hand of a young Avatar Korra.

Gently letting go of the yellow haired boy's hand Korra looked around seeing that they had once again entered a clearing that had another river flowing right through it with another forest on the other side of the running water. "Are we right back where we started?" Korra asked scratching the side of her head as she looked around.

Turning around the young Avatar saw that her statement had made Naruto hang his head in shame for making them walk around in a supposed circle. Panicking a little Korra franticly looked around before spotting something that wasn't in the first river. "Look Naruto!"

The ninja in training lifted his head and saw a series of rocks sticking out of the river that lead all the way across the water.

Walking up to Naruto she repeating patted him on the back. "See those rocks weren't here before this is probably a different river then before!"

Naruto cheered up a little. "Yeah I guess but what do we do now?"

Korra started to scratch her chin another idiosyncrasy she'd seen adults do when they were thinking as her eyes wandered upwards as she looked upon the stray night sky. "That's it!" she exclaimed getting Naruto to jump a little as he do entered a physical thinking pose by folding his arms and closing his eyes.

"What's it?" Naruto asked as Korra grabbed him by the shoulder.

"My dad taught me how to use the stars like a map in case I ever got lost!" she explained while pointing up. "I can lead us out of here!"

"Your dad taught you?"

Korra looked a bit guilty about bringing her dad up just as she was struck by another brilliant idea. "Yeah he did but…but he can teach you too when I take you home with me!"

Naruto looked a bit confused. "What are you talking about Korra?"

"Forget about that dumb village where you're from." She said holding her fists up to her chest. "Those mean people who live there don't know how great you really are. If you come back to the South Pole with me you can live with me and my parents in our house, you can be a part of our family."

"Part of a family…"Naruto's mind trailed off to the imaginary versions he had on Korra's mom and dad. He saw himself coming to a small cozy home after spending the day fishing with Korra and her father. While Korra's mother would greet him with a kiss on the top of his head as she served him a great big bowl of nice warm ramen. But most of all he saw himself and Korra staying up late hiding under a sheet in a make shift fort as they told scary stories to one another until getting yelled at to go to bed.

Naruto immediately shook his head of those nice warm thoughts not out of malice, bitterness, or even wishful wanting. He shook those thoughts out of determination and pride.

"I'll help you get back to your mom and dad but I can't just run away from Konohagakure no Sato it's my home." Placing his hands on top of Korra's fists he gently lowered them down without breacking eye contact. "Yeah the people in the village are mean to me some even pretend that I don't exist but you know how I'm going to get them to look up at me?"

"By punching and then sitting on them until they saw you're great?"

"Yeah wait what? No, well maybe that jerk Saskue…no! I'm going to make them look up to me by being the best!" with the air of determination Naruto raised his hands on his goggles and pulled them back and let the eye protection slap back right on his forehead. "I'm going to become the strongest ninja that village has ever seen I'm going to defeat ever enemy I face in battle no matter how scary or dangersous they are. I'm going to be the most powerful warrior of all time and then I'll become Hokage and then everyone will have to respect and like me!"

Korra wanted to say that she already liked him that he didn't have anything to prove towards people who didn't know how nice and warm he could be under all that sass and somewhat jerky attitude he had that was there in the first place because of the hostility he had to endure for no reason.

But she didn't say anything about it, she just smiled and said. "Ok Naruto you should follow your dream who knows when you became the Hokage then maybe you can take a vacation down South with me!"

"Oh well I mean I should still help you get home first, so I'll see your home for a little while." Naruto said back causing Korra to smile. The Avatar's real plan was already forming in her head. Step one get Naruto to help her get back home. Step two show how great and nice the South Pole is by having all the people who gave her things because she was the Avatar do the same for her Naruto. Then step three have mom cook the yellow haired boy a meal so yummy that he'll never want to leave, this was going to be the best field trip/ way back home ever!

"Korra…Korra…Korra!" Naruto yelled out the Water Tribe girl's name snapping her out of her plotting as he lightly shock her. "We should get going."

"What oh right!" Korra placed her hand over her forehead as she looked up and started to scan the sky. After a minute of star gazing something clicked and she recognized one of the constellations. "Look Naruto there!" she pointed over towards a cluster of stars. "That's the little cub." She aimed her finger to a set of stars that looked more like a cooking pan then a small animal of any kind. "We follow the brightest one and it'll lead us north!"

"That's great." Naruto was ready to follow the star only to realize something. "But Korra you live in the South Pole not the North Pole."

Not losing her confidence the Avatar said. "Thant's why we go the opposite direction the more far away we go from the North Star the closer we'll get to the South Pole!"

"That's really smart! Wow Korra you must be some sort of geniuses!" Naruto gestured enthusiastically.

Rubbing the bottom of her nose in pride and arrogance Korra said. "Yeah it's because I'm the Avatar I have the knowledge of a bunch of old people who lived a long time ago in my head."

"Is that why your head's so big?"

"….My head's normal size!" Korra yelled as she held a fireball in her hand.

"Ok, ok its normal sized!" Naruto screamed while using his hands to block his face in fear while he thought. "Are all girls scary when they're mad?"

Clutching the flame Korra looked back in the sky. "Ok then well if we go in the opposite direction of the North Star then that means we got to….cross that river." She said towards the moving water.

"Ok great we can swim across!" Naruto was about to run over and dive right in when something tackled him to the ground.

"Wait!" Korra cried out as she grabbed Naruto by the waist and pushed him to the ground. "We can't swim across!"

"Why not?" Naruto asked/demanded.

"The water's moving too fast." She said as the current indeed was running a lot faster than the previous one where they went fishing. "We should try and find a bridge down the river or something."

"What we can't do that!" Naruto gently shoved Korra off of himself and stood up and folded his arms. "That'll take too long this way's faster!"

Korra hesitated on the one hand Naruto was right it would be faster to try and swim across but on the other hand her inner voice and her father's voice where screaming in her head to find a safer path. "But the current's too strong and I can't use Water Bending to slow the current."

Naruto quickly scanned the neighboring forest entrance, the clearing, than the river itself. "Look!" Naruto directed Korra's attention towards the rocks that were scatted from their side of the river all the way across the other. "We'll just skip!"

Without so much as a warning Naruto leaped off the edge and onto one of the flat stepping rocks. Naruto landed on one foot swaying a little before stabilizing himself. "Come on Korra it's easy."

Korra's small but still competitive nature ensnared her reason and father's wisdom as she took a running start and jumped over towards Naruto.

The ninja held onto the bender keeping her from tripping. Looking back at Naruto and seeing him smile at her bravery made Korra smile back at him for his tenacity.

"Try to catch me!" Naruto kicked off to the next rock, then the then next rock, and then the next. "Oh crap!" he yelled as he held out his arms and desperately tried to flap around and keep his balance.

"Naruto!"

Said ninja immediately stopped flapping and panicking as he flashed her a sly smile. "Got you!"

Korra looked back at Naruto in shock before her face dipped down and turned into rage. "You stupid jerk I wish you really did fall in the river!"

Naruto was so busy laughing it off he didn't pay attention or watch his step and actually slipped on the wet rock. Time stood still as Korra watched Naruto fall down and submerge into the rushing water as it swept him away.

Korra panned her head looking at Naruto getting carried off into the river. Her mouth hung open the while time. "Ahhhh I didn't mean it Wish Spirit!" Korra prayed out. "I meant to send Naruto and me back to my house that was my real wish!"

Dropping down onto her own stepping rock. Korra covered her body over it she slammed her tinny fists into the slab using her limited Earth Bending skills to sever the rock from the river's depth and use it to surf down the stream.

As the rock spun Korra around and around dragging the little girl across the water she tried desperately to steer and guild herself to catch up to her drowning friend.

"K….Korra!"

Getting the rock to stop spinning the young Avatar could see that Naruto had managed to cling onto a giant pointy rock that was breaching out of the water. She saw Naruto hopelessly keep his head up as he looked like he was spitting out more water than he was getting air.

"Naruto!" Korra roared extending a reach. "Take my hand!"

With both hands still around the rock anchor Naruto without a sheared of doubt took one of his hands off the pillar and managed to grasp Korra's hand. Using every ounce of strength she had Korra pulled Naruto out of the water while at the same time Naruto used his legs to kick off the rock as both children held each other on the make shift slab raft.

"Are you ok?" Korra asked as she didn't break her hug mostly due to the fact that there wasn't really enough room on the floating rock for them both unless they stood on their knees and held onto each other.

Spitting out some water Naruto replied. "I..i think so."

"Good…DON"T EVER DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT AGAIN!" she screamed in the yellow haired boy's ear.

Grinding his teeth in order to counteract the noise Naruto held it together and patted Korra on the back. "I…..I won't."

"Promise." Korra demanded as the rushing water hid some of her own falling tears as it splaced across her face "Promise you won't let go of me until this whole ride is over."

"I promise…I won't let go."

Present Time Line

Still sitting on top of Avatar Aang's shoulder's neither Korra nor Naruto knew how long they kissed each other for. Naruto was enticed by the sensation of Korra's warm lips and surprisingly sweet fragrance that weren't coming from the flowers he grew for her. While Korra didn't want to part from Naruto's toned arms and the sensation of his heart beating against hers.

Eventually they needed to break for breath so they did by pulling back at the same time as they looked back at each other, this time connected by their eyes.

"Do you think the ride's still over?" Naruto asked as he couldn't stop brushing his fingers against Korra's cheeks.

Korra was about to answer back when she felt a chill in the air. The hairs on the back of her neck stood up as she panicked and fear slowly spread across her face.

Naruto looked back at Korra worried as the Avatar immediately started looking across the sky every which way as if she were trying to hone in on the source of her dread until she did.

Korra tightened her grip on Naruto as she saw someone flying in the air like a cannon ball as this person went higher and higher up in sky.

Naruto followed Korra's gaze seeing a middle aged man who had somehow floated in midair as he looked back at them. The man was too far away for Naruto to really make out except for a guess around the man's age and that he looked a bit haggard with a small scruffy beard and a head of hair that looked like it was slowly growing back from being shaved off.

"Korra…who is that?"

Korra hung her head down and buried it in Naruto's chest as she tried to block out a midafternoon terror attack that started vibrating in her brain. "The ride.." she said as she slowly looked back up into a pair of worried ocean blue eyes. "It's not over."
