A/N: Written for the Collect the Pokemon Challenge, Vivillon, and for the Indigo League Challenge, Route 2 task.

I might make more of these little drabbles, about Pokemon species sought after by Pokemon hunters. Make a mini-series of drabbles, but they'll be pretty random so I decided against putting them into a collection this time round. Check my series list (link's on my profile) if you're interested in others like this. That...and I have another fic called Pokemon Hunted, so I can't use that title again...

Enjoy!

Pokemon Hunted: Vivillon

They were all so different, but sometimes it seemed others couldn't see beyond the colours of their wings. Like the poachers that sought them for a profit. They didn't understand that there were more coveted rarities in their wings. They didn't know the subtleties in their taildust were worth far more than the colours that could only be found in certain parts of the world – because they were a greedy, superficial bunch, and the immediate profit was all they saw.

But those that grew closer to the Vivillon, who worked day and night with them and loved them, learnt of those subtleties and those secrets. And the happy Vivillion could produce even more powder for them: fresh sparkling powder that went into dyes and perfumes and fireworks and talcum and a great many other things.

That was the true wealth of the Vivillon – because what use were pretty little moths that wilted and died after a few days? They didn't last on a mantelpiece for long, without air or love. The colour of their wings ran out quickly like poorly stained dye and their taildust was the consistency and smell of ash.

But that was what thieves deserved of them.
