Wow, it sure has been awhile...! Slowly starting to update some of my stories to see if there is life still in fanfiction. I am not sure why but my bold and italics are not working...

Reconciling

Is she really asking for me? Does she really want to see me? After all I have done...

Elsa pressed her clammy hands to her side before pausing at Princess Anna's door. The joy that warmed her heart only a few minutes ago was slowly beginning to freeze again. Thoughts of their childhood flashed before her.

"Elsa, will you please come out?" The young eleven year old slouched against her sister's door. Ice coated the wood. Silence.

"I just really...really need a friend..."

Another memory of their fight that occurred only months ago caused even more doubt to cloud her mind.

"I can't live like this anymore..." Anna turned on her heel and left the throne room with a confidence she had never seen before.

Frozen tears dried near her eyes. She could not even cry properly. "I am a monster...and I am all alone." The weather reflected her i of emotions, it was when the winds started to howl that she realized just how lonely she was.

...

"I-I cannot do this..." Before she could flee, Kai caught her wrist.

A familiar smile broke through her fear, "Go on, my Queen, your sister is asking for you...and these..." A tray of sandwiches was placed on her palm.

...

The door creaked loudly as the Queen of Arrendale entered the room. All eyes were on her. A pregnant pause caused her stance to droop. The doctor who held a stethoscope to Anna's heart, bowed to the Queen and nodded,"I recommend lots of rest...welcome back to us, Princess Anna."

Multiple emotions flashed across the young prince's face as Elsa placed the tray by the table: fear, hate, respect, forgiveness. The Queen's blue orbs never left his. Memories of the dungeons came.

...

"She is dying and I cannot bare it."

"Did you come to add more pain to my heart before I am to be executed? You take my child and now you take my wife...How powerful do you feel now? Anna came back for your forgiveness but you give her death. How does it feel to lose everything?" Now, he was angry. He had sat in the dungeon for quite awhile. The darkness, the fear of death, the heartbreak finally caused him to speak venom.

She sank to the floor next to his iron cage,"This is all of your fault. You came here and put wild ideas in her head. You took away her purity and burdened her with a child..."

"I gave her freedom...I gave her love...and dammit, I gave her life..." His dirty hands raked through his hair.

"Then, please, Prince Hans," a sob escaped the Ice Queen's lips,"...please bring her back to life..."

The prison door was unlocked.

...

"Queen Elsa," he bowed formally. His very tired body sagged with a heavy weight. Yes, he had brought her back, but was it a temporary solution? Or had the Queen had a change of heart?

And finally...a pair of sparkling eyes met her blue eyes. Everyone in the room exited. Anna tapped an empty space on the bed beside her. Color had returned to her cheeks, a youthful ora glowed around the princess.

"The storm has stopped...and I can see the sun, Elsa. I love the sun."

The dam of emotions broke. Elsa grasped her sister's hand and slumped to her knees. Wave after wave of sobs filled the room. Anna, with a gentle touch, stroked her sister's cheek.

"I...Anna, I-I'm so sorry for everything. I"

Her voice was as calm as the sea,"It is a new day, sister. I love you."

...

Within the month, Arrendale had been transformed into a new city. The frozen grave had thawed, ships were at port bustling with trade, and the laughter of children was a common sound.

Elsa slowly began to open her heart. She opened the gates. She opened herself to life. The fear of her ice powers no longer controlled her. Love controlled her.

Spring brought new hope to their city but also new adventures. Queen Elsa had sent a ship to the Southern Isles to announce the marriage of unity between Arrendale and the Southern Isles.

Rupert, King and the eldest brother of Hans, had been assassinated after the announcement. His rule of selfishness and fear came to an end. Hans and Anna helped restore the kingdom to its former glory just as Han's father had ruled...with grace and justice...The kingdom was left in the hands of Archer, the next King in line with wife and five sons.

...

The grand ballroom was bustling with excitement. Queen Elsa was turning thirty and the young princess insisted on a huge birthday ball. Servants were lining the tables with beautiful white linens. The royal China was placed strategically on the tables to organize families together.

A violinist melodically played over the commotion to practice for the dancing that would soon start. It was a breathtaking tune. Elsa smiled at herself in the mirror as she recognized it...it was her mother's favorite tune to waltz to. Her eyes closed as she tried to remember her mother's eyes, her hair, her voice. Even after they had discovered her daughter's ice powers, she would hug her tightly after Elsa had lost control of her powers a few times.

Once, the king was infuriated because she had frozen the piano during her lessons. The gloves had worked temporarily but when her anger flared, so did her ice. After an hour of practicing and with no hope of mastering the easy piece, she slammed her hands on the ivory keys. Elsa screamed as it froze shut.

The king's words burned in her heart that day,"If you cannot control it, you'll be a monster! Just...control it!"

Her mother immediately reprimanded her husband in the halls before calling for her eldest daughter.

"Come, my darling, it is ok, you will never be a monster. You will be a mighty Queen of power."

Oh, she missed her mother.

...

Anna cursed under her breath before her lady's maid tightened her corset again. After she was allowed out of bed, her energy and spirit soared...so did her appetite. Chocolate and cookies and hot chocolate were offered daily to the princess. It brought a beautiful smile on her face when she saw them. And so, the staff always had them out to remind them of the day Arrendale saw the sun again. The day Princess Anna was allowed to live and the Queen was reborn.

"Ugh, can we try one more time? I have to fit in my dress or I will just die! Lady Alice worked so hard on it. It is so pretty with the blue flowers and the pink sash..."

Hans turned from the large bay windows in their private chamber. He admired the coaches and horses coming into the gate. It was going to be a grand party. "Did you ask her if she could let some of the threading out? She is a master seamstress, I am sure she could have it mended right before the ball."

Anna looked at her ladies' maid pleadingly, "Please, Octavia, I know you are busy but it would mean the world to me..."

The maid smiled and curtsied,"I will be back within the hour." She cocked her eyebrow at the tray of sandwiches and took them into her hands.

"Octaviaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa."

"If you want your dress to fit, my lady, you must avoid these until after the ball. what if she cannot take the dress out? If I hear my princess say another curse word, I shall faint. The battle withe corset will be easier without these..."

Hans let out a merry laugh.

"I am glad you find this entertaining." Her husband's fingers began to loosen the corset strings one by one until she was able to take a deep breath. She turned to look at him with a look of apprehension. "Do you think-"

Slowly, his fingers lifted her chin and drew his eyes to his. His other hand encircled her waist. A small smile curled on his lips as he looked at her display of freckles on her nose. It made her seem childlike even though she was a woman. They were enticing. As if connecting the dots, his lips touched one...two...three. Lazily, he worked his way to the nape of her neck.

"Hans..." It was a plea.

She molded herself into his arms, her desire for him burning. The dress was temporarily forgotten as she pulled him towards the large four poster bed. Nimble fingers untied his cravat. "Since we have time...we may as well use it to our advantage."

His eyes widened from her boldness. Her fingers grasped his thighs from need. "I need you, I want..." Her words were cut short as every article of clothing was stripped off and thrown to the floor.

Their lovemaking was slow and intoxicating. The Princess of Arrendale screamed out her husband's name as stars exploded in front of her. "Mm..I love you..."

"And I, you...you are my life, Anna..." He nipped her below the ear before looking into her gaze. "Anna, is it possible you are not fitting into your dress for reasons other than eating too much cake?"

Red colored her face,"It cannot be...The doctor told me I would not be able to conceive after..."

"Life certainly has a sense of humor, my love...Maybe we should call on the doctor in a few days just to be sure..."

Both of them smiled as they thought of the possibility of having a child.

Just as Hans retied his cravat, a knock sounded at the door. Octavia, with a smile, waltzed in with the dress. In a sing-song voice, she announced,"It is finished!"

...

Queen Elsa greeted each guest with a warm smile and a hug. Many kings and queens from neighboring countries just to celebrate her birthday. After love changed her heart, the success of Arrendale grew and the story of how it was once more a happy place spread.

The crowd around the Queen spread as Hans and Anna approached. Anna enveloped her sister in her arms while beaming in excitement,"Happy birthday, Elsa!" Sisters embraced for a long while.

This was love...this was joy...this was life...

"I am so very pleased with all of the decorations and the amount of people who came. Thank you for the party, Anna. I feel very overwhelmed with the attention."

Hans placed a bouquet of roses in Elsa's arms before kissing her cheek,"Happy birthday, dear sister."

The two looked at each other and smiled. They had come a very long way. What once was an enemy, now was a close friend.

...

The dancing went on for hours. Elsa, who never danced, had been whisked into the arms of a tall blonde with wispy hair. Her cheeks flushed as he pulled her into a waltz without even asking. "Happy birthday, my Queen..."

"...and you are?"

"I am Kristoff."

A smile curved on her lips,"Well, Kristoff, don't you know it is polite to ask for a dance before pulling me into a waltz? I am not a very good..."

The tempo slowed and he pulled her into his chest before spinning her out. The dance floor whirled around her and color rushed to her cheeks as he pulled her close once more

"...dancer."

Kristoff smirked,"You are a natural...maybe you just needed the right partner."

Applause erupted in the ballroom and the Queen looked around. Somehow, they had become the center of attention. Kristoff bowed before lightly kissing her hand,"Thank you for the dance..."

She laughed,"I will never dance again."

"Yes, you will."

Was he really that stubborn and hard headed? Who defied a Queen? Her eyebrows rose in a challenge,"And when will I...?"

"...at our wedding," he whispered.

Her eyes twinkled in mischeif.

Out of nowhere, Anna stepped by her sister, "She cannot marry a man she just met..."

Humiliated that someone heard her conversation, Elsa covered her face. "Anna, this is Kristoff. Kristoff, this is my sister Anna and her husband, Hans..."

The couple bowed as the introduction took place. The music turned into an upbeat dance and couples began to break off into partners. Elsa could feel her eyes drifting to Kristoff but stopped when Anna let out a groan. "Anna?"

Hans placed his arm around his wife's waist for support,"I am sorry but we have to cut the evening short. She wanted to say good night before I took her upstairs."

Elsa's hands began to quiver, "What is wrong? Are you in pain?"

A smile rested on her sister's face,"I am more than fine, Elsa, I just need rest."

"Why? You just hunched over as if...it reminded me of..."

Hans lowered his voice,"I really do need to take her to our chambers."

Anna straightened as if to put her foot down and tell him off but she leaned back into him. "I am fine. He is just being overprotective."

"The doctor said-"

"The what!?"

...

Elsa pulled her sister into the drawing room away from prying eyes. For the first time in months, she was frightened. Had her previous actions caused her sister harm once more? "Anna, what is going on?"

Hans clicked his tongue in his cheek,"So much for surprises."

"Well, we suspected something and when Doctor Sawyer arrived, he immediately wanted to do an examination. He took my pulse and measured my waist, and I explained to him about my dizziness and -"

Hans interrupted,"My love, just skip to the news."

"Happy birthday, Elsa, you are going to be an Auntie."

As slow as the setting sun, the news dawned on her. "Y-You are...with child!?"

"We are with child...apparently a lot with child. The baby should be here in four more months..."

"So soon?"

Anna shrugged,"I thought it was from the cakes..."

Overwhelmed, amazed, excited.

The Queen threw open the drawing room doors,"I HAVE AN ANNOUNCEMENT..."

Hans felt his face flush bright red. In the Southern Isles, you waited until the baby was born before making an announcement. The country was very private. Arrendale, on the other hand, told it all! People knew what married people did behind closed doors but to announce it was excruciating. He could feel his ears flaming.

"Prince Hans and Princess Anna are expecting a child...! My niece or nephew and the continuation of the royal line continues!"

...

An hour later, people began to leave. The morning was coming soon. Her heart was so full it could burst. Her kingdom was successful, her sister alive, her family growing. The most powerful Queen on earth sat in the silence and smiled.

I am loved...
