Title: Nii-san

Summary: That's what big brothers do.

Warning: may cause excessive nosebleeding due to overload of fluff and/or cuteness

A/N: I needed this. Just... yeah. It's fluff. Definitely.

It was another sunny spring day, and Rin and Yukio were sitting together in Room 4 of True Cross Preschool. Rin yawned as he looked out the window, ignoring what the pretty new lady teacher had to say.

"Okay, class, it's free time now! You can play with the toys in the room or read a book."

A cheer issued from Rin's lips, and he was the first to reach the toys. He inspected the shelves. Should he pick the red fire truck? The yellow train?

A light blue airplane drew his attention, and he grabbed it off the shelf and went over to Yukio, who was reading a book.

"Look, Yukio, a plane! Whee!" Rin shouted as he flew his plane through an imaginary sky. Yukio smiled.

"Nii-san, planes fly in straight lines."

Rin made a moue*. "Eh, I don't care! Whee!"

"Ah! My plane!" Rin exclaimed as it accidentally flew out of his hands when he swung it too fast. He scampered over to the other side of the room to retrieve it.

When he returned, he saw two boys standing where he was sitting.

They were next to Yukio.

Right next to Yukio.

Teasing Yukio.

Laughing at Yukio.

Yukio looked like he was going to cry.

Something in him came boiling to the surface.

"Hey! Stop bullying my brother!" he shouted, dark blue eyes blazing with protectiveness. Yukio blinked away tears and looked gratefully at his brother rushing to his rescue.

"Che, let's go." the taller boy said, turning around and leaving. The shorter boy trotted after him.

"Hmph." Rin snorted at the retreating backs of the bullies. Then he turned back to his brother. "Yukio, are you okay?"

Yukio nodded. "Thank you, nii-san."

Rin smiled.

He was the big brother, of course he'd protect his little brother from the big bad bullies!

As long as his brother was happy, he was too.
