It was the end of the school year and all the teachers and students were off the campus. I was trying to find Zero, since he wasn't around when I was trying to escort the night class students and teachers to their rides.

I was so grateful the day class left before the night class because I wouldn't be able to hold back those demonic day class girls on my own.

I finally found him over by the river that separated the abandoned moon dorms and he was holding something. I ran over to him and hugged him tightly from behind.

"Are you alright? You weren't there to help me escort the night class students and teachers to their rides." I told him. "I'm fine." He assured me.

I pulled away and stood next to him. I saw he was holding his Kurayami mask and I looked at over at him confused.

"There really is no reason to pretend to be the school ghost right now." I told him. He shook his head. "That's not it. The only reason I went around as the phantom of this school was because I wanted to find some reason to prove that the night class was as good as the headmaster believed they were." He admitted.

He looked over at me and his eyes softened. "However, when you came here I changed the roles of the phantom to be your protector, because I feel you would feel more safe knowing not only I was protecting you but so was Kurayami." He confessed.

I smiled at him warmly and placed my hand on his arm. "I don't need both Zero and Kurayami to feel safe, I only need my Zero." I told him. He pulled me into his chest and held me tightly.

I looked up at him and he rested his forehead against mine. "If the only reason why now you continue masquerading as a school ghost is because you only wanted me to feel safe then don't you think maybe it's time to put Kurayami to rest?" I asked.

He stared at me a bit unsure and I wrapped my arms around his neck. "Believe me when I say I only need you to make me feel safe." I reassured him. He nodded and kissed my hairline.

He pulled me away a little and tossed his mask into the river. I pecked his cheek and smiled at him. He looked over at me and smirked.

"I may not drop a few things from acting as a ghost." He told me. I raised an eyebrow and tilted my head to the side.

What is he talking about?

"Like what?" I asked. I yelped when I was suddenly dipped and Zero kissed me deeply. I kissed him back just as deep and he righted me up carefully. He pulled away gently and chuckled a little at my dazed look.

"Something kind of like that." He told me. I rolled my eyes playfully and he let me go. He looked back over at his mask and tossed it into the river.

He intertwined his fingers with mine and led me away from the river.

Deep in the cold lake the white mask that was a symbol if a ghost laid resting, undisturbed by the river's current.

However, a hooded figure saw the mask and retrieved it from the icy cold water. The figure smirked darkly as it slipped the cold mask on just as it's eyes glowed red with anger.

It seems the mask may not be put to rest after all.
