JOHN

I gazed at Will playing with his new electric train tracks by the christmas tree from where I was curled next to Sherlock, Piper in my arms. The cold christmas had brought a storm, shutting us in for the evening. Will had a few presents, Molly and Lestrade had earlier dropped off some things for Piper, and Sherlock and I had exchanged gifts. I gave Sherlock a couple of new tools to use on cases, silently telling him that I would be able to handle things here for a bit if he wanted to get a head start on calls from The Yard. He had presented me with a brand new jumper and some of the expensive coffee I loved from the market.

"I want it to always be like this." Sherlock said, leaning against me and tracing Piper's sleeping face. "What do you mean?" I whispered. "The simple life of our family... our children... the happiness in this room. I want to stay here for the rest of time." Sherlock rambled, something he rarely does. "Sherlock... what's wrong love?" Sherlock sat up. "I know this christmas has been amazing, but I can't stop thinking about the news earlier. I did some research and called a few of my homeless network. That woman who released Moriarty is his new bride, John... She married him."
I rested my head against him. He has gone manipulating more people, and this poor woman has no idea what is in front of her. I looked at William, intent on intensifying his train set by twisting and turning the tracks. That young boy sitting on the carpet before me is the only good Moriarty gave this world. "We will help her if we must, but for the moment she seems like she is in love... here." I handed Piper over to his arms," Seems you need a bit of cheering up." Sherlock looked down at Piper as she slept, swaddled in her blanket. "Thank you for giving us two amazing children, John." he said. I chuckled a bit," You were there too love, every step of the way." I whispered, leaning close.

"Papa, Daddy! Look!" Will exclaimed, coming over and pointing to his train tracks. He had arranged them in such a way that the trains whipped across the track just barely crashing into each other at the cross-point, yet it had been timed perfectly so they didn't touch at all. "Splendid, love. Great work!" I chimed," How did you manage that?" Sherlock said, his face brightening up, his focus directed fully onto his son. Our son. I took Piper so Sherlock could go sit with William and talk with him, challenging him to improve the tracks and the timing even further.

Even if Moriarty was stirring up trouble again, we were ready this time. We can take him.

We are strong.

Author's Note:

I know, I know, it is very short, but I am going to be doing some time leaps to age Piper a bit... we will get to her first steps, Sherlock and John out on a case without kids, and a few other surprises... you will have to wait and see!
I will be doing more updates on weekends now that the school year has started for me... super stressed because the teachers are hard on us this year... oh boy!
Take care loves, and I will see you next weekend (hopefully!)
