Of all days she could wear heels, she had to pick today. Eileen cursed herself for her miscalculations. Her skirt flapped wildly against the wind and she cursed again for wearing the wrong attire for this special occasion. Fearing running would only ruin her favourite skirt, Eileen sighed in defeat and choose to speed walk. All while smacking herself in the face.
"I can't even remember the flight?! How In the world I'm I going to find him now?" she mentally screamed to herself.
She could call Margaret to check them for her. But Eileen is running out of time. She doesn't want to make time. She wanted to be the first to greet him. And she was not going to let her small mistake getting in the way.
Suddenly, her eyes fell onto the figure down the hall. She recognized him, even standing so far away. The way the man stands. The body language screamed from him. The old, worn shirt he was wearing. She recognized his dark, russet hair, messy and unkempt yet somehow always silky ad smooth. His laughter was warm and hearty, sending her heart flutter in excitement. The man turned and her hazel eyes met his hooded ones.
"Eileen," Rigby breathes out, breathless to see her there. Standing there for real. Not in his dreams. Not in some cruel fantasy. She was here, beautiful than ever before.
Whatever he said next, Eileen didn't hear. For she was running so fast towards him. She missed him. She missed him so much. His warmth, his scent, his voice. Everything.
All those weeks filled with loneliness evaporated now that he's here. Now that he was home.
Eileen threw herself into his awaiting arms. She wrapped her arms tightly around his neck, pulling him closer. Rigby buried his face into her collarbone, taking in her scent. His hands wrapped securely around her back, trapping her in his embrace.
Eileen ran her fingers through his hair, feeling the softness against her skin. She pulled back and kissed him lightly at the corner of his lips.
"You're back," she whispered, believing she's still in one of her dreams.
"I'm back," he reassured her, rubbing his thumb over the smoothness of her cheek. He locked his eyes with hers. And Eileen could see all his happiness and love pouring out just for her.
"You're here," she said, drawing in closer, her eyes laughing and sparkled with contentment.
"I'm here," he said. Rigby tilted his head, and closed the gap between them, kissing his wife for the very first time in many weeks.
