America's Morning Drink

America came in with a dark colored coffee travel mug. He was calm and smiling. Everyone wondered what was in cup, at first everyone thought it was coffee, but Alfred never got wound up from the caffeinated beverage. Everyone was dying to know what was in the cup, after all they really didn't have anything better to talk about. They got their chance when America went to the bathroom before the meeting started, leaving his cup on the table. As soon as American closed the door, France lunged across the table to grab the cup. He took the lid off and gulped down the drink before choking and spitting it out.

"What was it? Coke, Rum, what?!" Prussia asked, even Germany seemed to be interested.

"It's- it's tea! A dark and bitter tea!" The other nations looked confused at each other. America hated tea, so why was it in his cup?

"Good morning America!" Italy smiled. France and the other nations panicked. Quickly France popped the lid back on the cup and slammed it back where it was before taking his seat. Both America and Italy came into the room. America smiled and grabbed his cup, taking a drink. Only to lower it with a bewildered look on his face.

"What, how is it empty? I hardly drank anything from my cup." Suddenly there was a dark and ominous aura that had even had Russia backing away. There was a soft chuckle and everyone turned to England that was sitting right next to America. Getting up he gently took the cup from America's hands and walked over to the coffee maker and removed the filter before running water through it to heat it.

"You know, being as old as I am, I have a lot of memories." The water was finished and England opened America's cup, placed in a tea bag, filled it with hot water and closed the lid.

"But my most favorite of memories is back when I had guardianship over a tiny colony. Every morning when I stayed there in the colony, before the sun was even up, that tiny colony would come into my room. Then he would jump up onto the bed and wake me up, just demanding that I make him a cup of tea. And every morning I would tell him no, to go ask one of my maids." England took the tea bag out and threw it away. He popped the lid on and handed the cup to America. The young nation sighed with relief and calmly sipped on the drink.

"Then that young lad would claim that their tea was too nasty to drink and that only England could make his tea. That would cause me to smile and get up and make the lad his tea, which would cause the lad to calm and be so happy." England finished his story and took his seat again next to the smiling American.

"Although I never could make it as well as you." England sipped the tea from his own cup and smiled. The girl nations sighed at the story, it was so cute.

"Ever since then I just can't get my day started without a cup of Irish breakfast or English breakfast tea. I was one of the things I missed the most." American smiled over at England. After that Germany started the meeting, but one thing was certain, don't come between the American and his cup of tea.
