Hunters and Killers

Hide from sunlight,

Slumber deep.

Wait for dark,

To break from sleep.

New prey is found,

Time to awake.

Soar through the night,

Let the prey quake.

Some food is taken,

But is rare

But the swarm must feed,

Must not despair.

So now the raptors,

Kill their own.

Mainly on those

Not yet grown.

They scream in hunger,

Scream in pain.

They hunt and soar,

All through the rain.

The suns then rise,

The light returns.

Must go to ground,

Lest they be burned.

Back to slumber,

Back to sleep.

A planet's nightmare,

Dwelling deep.
