"Ugh!" a sudden bright flash shot Donatello straight into the middle of his lab where he ended up face-planting the ground, laying there for a few seconds, his entire body shaking. Once he had sat himself up, he looked around and felt a lump in his throat at the thought of his future brothers before shaking his head furiously and staggering to his feet.

"Ow, ow, ow," Donnie winced, clutching the wounds covering his arms and plastron as he quickly took out his first aid kit and dressed each injury with thick bandages. Once he had finished mummifying himself, he quickly turned to the sound of a crash coming from outside of his lab and then several voices all talking at once. Nervously, the purple-banded turtle pressed his face against the cold metal doors that kept him hidden from the view of the voices outside.

"Dudes, anybody want pizza?" the familiar voice of Donatello's immediate younger brother, Michelangelo, squeaked from a small distance. The pitch of Mikey's voice sounded extremely loud and full of emotion when compared to his older counterparts gruff, moody tone.

"Am I...back?" Donnie asked himself softly as he limped towards the door handles and clutched them, having an inner battle in his mind whether to reveal himself or not. "Do they remember coming to that world, I wonder..."

"How can you guys even feel like eating?" another voice piped in, Donnie recognising the bossy tone as his oldest brother, Leonardo.

"Easily enough when you haven't touched food in almost twenty four hours," another voice snapped.

"Raphael..." Donnie groaned, not needing to guess the irritated voice of his immediate older brother. Moving to swing the doors open, Donnie stopped himself when the red-clad turtle continued to rant;

"As for what you said back in the tunnels, Fearless. If Donnie does appear back up in the city, he knows where we live, so quit complaining; he'll be alright."

"But what if he doesn't come back, Raphael?" Leo demanded angrily and after a few seconds, judging from the silence, nobody knew what to say to Leo's retort.

So they do know, Donnie thought to himself before glancing over at the photos of his family, April and himself. "I should really-"

"My sons," the calming voice of the turtle's beloved father caused Donnie to choke on his own words as he felt tears prick in his eyes. "Please try not to argue, I'm sure that your brother is safe...Wherever he is."

I can't take this, Donnie shook his head out of his thoughts and slammed the doors of his lab open, standing in the light of the lair and staring tiredly at the shocked expressions of his three brothers and father. "It's okay..." he wavered, supporting his shaky legs by holding the frame of the metal door. "I'm finally home now," he added, his voice cracking as he allowed the tears to fall down his face.

"DONNIE!" the three other turtles all shouted in unison as they leaped over the sofa and happily tackled Donatello in a massive hug while their father, Master Splinter calmly walked towards his children and softly pulled the four into his own arms.

"We are overjoyed to see you again, Donatello..." Splinter whispered as he and the turtles knelt on the ground and huddled together, not wanting to let go. "My dear sons..."

Donnie snuggled into the grip of his brothers before closing his eyes, thinking of the dark world he had returned from. "I swear..." he murmured, as more tears streaked down his face and soaked the purple bandana he wore. "I won't ever leave you, I swear on my life that I'll stay beside my brothers. I will change the future that awaits me."

"We all will," Raph grinned. "Remember our rule, Donnie?"

"Yeah..." Donnie smiled softly, nestling himself against his father's furry arm and closing his eyes. "No turtle left behind."
