I was utterly charmed by the first few episodes of TNT's new show The Librarians, so I've decided to write a short one-shot. This is also a momentous occasion for me in that it's my first story not about Doctor Who.

For the small- but hopefully growing- band of Librarian enthusiasts out there, I hope you enjoy! Hopefully, some of you will join me in writing fics for this awesome show!

(I recently created a forum for fans of the show, so do check it out. Thanks!)

Caught In The Act

The soles of her flats pounded steadily against the marble floors, and the acoustics in the hall caused this sound to ripple through the sea of bookshelves around her. Perhaps Eve Baird might have paused to appreciate the warped noise on another occasion, but today was not that day.

Great. I lost one of 'em already, she thought, hastening her step. How can I possibly keep them all safe in the real world if I can't even keep track of them in our own hub?

Ezekiel Jones, skilled thief and potential Librarian, had been missing for hours. Not a single one of them knew where he knocked off to after their Minotaur encounter, not Jenkins, or Cassandra, or Jake. So being their assigned Guardian, Eve obliged herself to seek him out. Surely it couldn't be that difficult to find one man in here, right? After surviving a labyrinth, she assumed she could handle this easily.

Unfortunately, The Library's branch office was larger and full of more twist and turns than she expected. She didn't know whether a crazy floor plan or some kind of dimensional magic was to thank, but it quickly began to annoy her.

Minutes later, Eve finally found the central section of their temporary hub and crept down the stairs, taking them two at a time. She briefly glanced at her reflection in the full length mirror in the corner as she passed by. Excluding herself, this room too appeared to be empty.

"Jones! Ezekiel Jones?" she called, but heard no immediate reply.

Slowly, she crossed around the large table at the center of the expansive room. Newspaper clippings and books littered its surface. She finally noticed something out of place when she looked towards the "back door."

The back door allowed her and the three potential Librarians she protected to travel nearly anywhere in the world. Using magic she couldn't even dream of understanding, it possessed the capability to form a connection with any door on Earth. Supposedly, Jenkins had stored away the magical equipment that powered it. Yet the familiar globe sat on its stand in front of her, and wires connected from it to the door. It was active. Someone had been tampering, and remembering a conversation with Ezekiel earlier that day, Eve instantly knew who that someone was.

She marched towards the doors and threw them open. A vault filled with hundreds of bars of gleaming gold filled the room directly in front of her. Ezekiel knelt in the center of the vault with a backpack full of gold, appearing surprised as hell.

Eve groaned, and extended her arms in front of her. "Really?"
