This is a bonus chapter provided by starfinder07, but more importantly is this: starfinder07 goes by Silverfable over on FictionPress. And says they're Moonsilver.

Obviously, I'm skeptical. I'm a naturally paranoid person, but I'm more than willing to take them at their word and allow YOU, the readers, to go and find out for yourselves!

Enough from me! Enjoy this bonus chapter for "Source of Magic", which occurs between 89 and 90.

Source of Magic

Chapter 91

Library Hazards

Kagome smiled to herself and picked up her purse and lunch. It was still new, seeing Inuyasha disappear off to work every morning. Her parents had worked close enough that they could drive instead of have a transport.

She started to walk to work. She only lived a few blocks away, so she followed her parents decision. This was thanks to Inuyasha's parents.

Kagome had gone for her interview at the mage university and Inuyasha had started work at a research company after graduation. They had spent three weeks apart, Kagome had stayed with Sess and Inuyasha for her interview, and she had gone home to find the letter of acceptance waiting for her.

She had called Inuyasha and he had given her a pointed look over the phone. She laughed and teased him about setting a date.

Organizing a wedding when the two getting married live hours from each other isn't easy.

They decided it would be easier for Inuyasha and his family to come down to Kagome's hometown. Mrs. Higurashi swept into planning mode and Kagome just showed up for the dress. And the cake. The cake was very important.

Inuyasha brought pictures to her of a house and Kagome fell in love with it. He had smirked at her and hadn't said anything else about it.

They went back to the college town and Inuyasha stopped in front of a house a few blocks from his brother's. They went inside and he explained that it was a wedding present from his parents.

Kagome had spent two months at the library already and Myouga had started training her on processing books to be ready for the shelves. School would start in a few days and they had to be finished.

And here she was. She looked up at the library and used her key to get inside. Myouga was off for the morning, but he had said he would leave a bookcart full of books to process in her office.

She hid a grin. Her office. She had an office to work in!

She walked out of the lobby and took a right into the staff area. Walking down the hall and choosing her door, she stepped inside and hung her coat on the back of the door. The promised bookcart was beside her desk and she paused to take a look at the titles.

Tending Your Familiar. A couple books on astrology. Raising the Dead by Dr. Frankenstein. Kagome paused. Probably not the same guy.

Summoning Light. Summoning Dark. Hm, matched set. The Leaves of March. Hatching. Bones Within. Writing Letters.

She shrugged as she finished looking them over. Simple enough. They've already got their MARC records attached and they're in the system. All I have to do is assign them a barcode, add an extra label if they need it, print spine labels, stamp them, date them, and put on barcode protectors.

Kagome started her computer and found the extra barcodes. She pulled each book off the cart and peeled a barcode from the waxy paper. By the time she had finished that, Kagome started the program that would let her edit the material records. She assigned the proper barcodes and zapped them with the reader to make sure they all showed up correctly.

She tapped computer buttons until she got all the spine labels done and went to the storage cabinet for the paper. "Hi, Kagome," a soft male voice said.

She turned and grinned. "Hi, Shippo. Here early?"

He nodded. "My family decided they wanted to vacation for a few days."

He held up a list. "I thought I might get started early on the course list." He noticed her worried look and laughed. "I wanted to read them here, Kagome! I know I can't take them out yet."

She relaxed and sent him off to get his books. She got the spine label paper and went back to her office.

An hour later, Myouga looked in on her. She had the barcodes done, the books had attached spine labels, and stamped with both the date and who they belonged to. He blinked at her cart and paled.

She frowned. "Myouga? Something wrong?"

He coughed. "No. Nothing's wrong."

"Oh, good. Do they need a special label on any of them?"

He shook his head. "All they need now is the barcode protectors and jackets on a few of them. You're doing fine."

A middle-aged woman knocked on Kagome's door. "Sorry to interrupt. Kagome, could you take the front desk for half an hour while I get lunch?"

"Sure."

She nodded to her and Myouga. "Whenever you're ready."

Myouga left after that and Kagome went out to the front desk. He walked to his office and sat down heavily. Usually he had to ward each book separately while he worked on it. Otherwise, the magic inside would attack him. Some of those books had to be put inside cabinets off to themselves with wards around each one.

He sighed. And Kagome finished them all in a morning without any effects at all.

"Ah, Kagome."

Inside, Kagome closed her eyes. She winced. She turned and hissed at the man at the door.

Outside, she smiled politely and said, "Hello, Professor. How was your vacation?"

"It went well," he said in a mysterious tone. "I don't suppose you have the new books?"

He swept forward and reached for the cart. "Ah," he said with some satisfaction. He pointed a finger at one. "I'd like that one."

She frowned, puzzled. "It's not ready yet."

He tsk'd at her. "Myouga always does them special for me." He narrowed his eyes.

"Whenever I ask."

She raised an eyebrow. "He told me that they were to go on the shelves in a few days."

"Call him," Naraku suggested. She sighed and dialed the phone number. When she turned, Naraku was gone and so was the book.

"Hello?" Myouga said. Kagome relayed what had happened and he sighed. "Naraku does not take out whatever he wants. I'll see if I can get it back."

"I'm sorry."

"Not your fault. He does this to everyone."

Kagome took her lunch break and went back to her office with two tote boxes full of interlibrary loans (ILL). She unpacked the envelopes and set them on another bookcart for processing. She had learned the software over the past two months and didn't make too many mistakes.

"Okay," she muttered to herself. "I check them in to us and then out to the patrons of the library. Put a slip in them and give them to the front desk." She began working her way through the books.

"Busy?"

She turned and smiled at her old necromancy teacher. "Hi, Duo."

He walked into the office and held up a book. "I heard you were looking for his."

"Yes. Naraku took it." She scowled. "How'd you get it back?"

He shrugged. "For someone like me, it's not too hard..." He held up his hands at her raised eyebrow. "I'll talk! I walked into his office, told him mildly that I was first on the list for this book, and he gave it to me." She snorted. "What?"

"He gave it to you?"

"There might have been a mention of Wufei being interested in a particular chapter."

He grinned. "Fei's going to challenge me to a duel when I tell him that."

Duo paused when Kagome reached for the book. "Don't you want to put up wards?"

"Why?"

He closed his eyes. "Why. Kagome, you're working with books that bite. Didn't Myouga give you some warning?" He looked over the cart. "Tending Your Familiar is calm enough. Astrology, too."

He put the book back on the cart. "Raising the Dead will try to make you walk to the nearest cemetery and either raise the dead or become the dead." He looked back at her.

"Yes, it's the same guy."Continuing, he said, "Summoning Light and Summoning Dark. Unless you take out both books at once, you have some problems. The other book will try to follow the other. It'll bring out the light or dark in your soul and keep you unbalanced until you get both. Leaves of March." He whistled.

"Why is that one so important?" Kagome asked.

"Because there aren't any leaves in March," he said bluntly. "That one's about the dark side of nature. Not a pretty picture."

He pointed at Hatching. "I don't know what that one is, but it's got a weird glow around it. Bones Within will try to heal anything that's wrong with you and correct a few things that aren't wrong if you don't have a ward. I heard one person woke up with wings after falling asleep with it on his chest. Writing Letters concerns the letters between two people that were both dead when they started writing."

He glanced at her. "Good thing you're the Source." She nodded.

Kagome finished the ILLs and the new books and went off with another bookcart to shelve some materials. She was up in the top level when someone tapped her on the shoulder. She jumped and whirled to face the other person.

A young man grinned at her. "Hi."

"Hello," she said cautiously. "Do I know you?"

"No, but I hope to get to know you rather well."

The way he looked at her made Kagome's skin crawl. "Can I help you find a book?"

He shook his head. "No, Source. I'm not in the library for a book. Just for you."

She narrowed her eyes. "I'm married."

"It doesn't make any difference."

"It makes one to me," she said dryly. "I'm not interested." He grinned wider and took a step forward.

A pink light sprang into life between them and a lady who looked like Kagome came into being. She looked down her nose at the young man and said coldly, "It is not allowed.

The next opportunity for the power to shift is Kagome's child. Leave."

"Who are you?" the man said boldly.

"The prophetess Kikyo."

"She's dead!"

A small smile hovered on the lady's lips. "So I am. There's enough of me in this small jewel to ward off people who would damage my legacy. Leave her alone or I will strip you of your magery."

He ran and Kikyo turned to Kagome. They nodded to each other and the glow faded.

"Okay," Kagome said slowly. "This is a weird day."

Kagome found Inuyasha waiting in the lobby for her at closing time. She smiled at him and wondered if she should tell him about her day.

"How was your day?" she asked on the way home.

He shrugged. "Interesting. I figured out another piece of the research we're doing on reaction. You?"

"I did a bookcart full of books that Duo later told me were dangerous without wards."

She told him about the books. "Naraku came by and stole a book that Duo returned. Some guy hit on me in the library and Kikyo appeared to tell him where to get off." She shrugged. "Another day of being the Source."

"I thought this was supposed to stop when we got married?" Kagome stopped walking.

Inuyasha looked at her. "What is it?"

"What if it's me? What if I attract this kind of thing?"

Inuyasha chuckled and pulled her close. "Then Miroku will put protective magics around you and I'll growl at anyone who gets close."
