Epilogue

Now

When night falls, he sees her, dancing through the stars, a dream away… Elegant and beautiful, but stars — they burn the way his heart burns for her.

When she died, the land of dreams welcomed him every night with open arms. Beneath his lids he saw images of the beautiful woman he fell in love with, dancing in the heavens endlessly and infinitely.

And that night went on forever.

He had already been dead once. He came to the realm of the living for her, and only her. There was no temptation left but that woman. When his own hand took his life, there was no fear or regrets. He was ready for it. He yearned for it, not unlike the desire he had for her.

She bargained her own life for one more moment with him. Her life was taken away from her. He refused to live again without her. So he killed himself, to join her, yet again, in the starlight.

Those who had journey with him so long ago stumbled upon him near the lake that reflects the stars. The black haired arched had a misericord impregnated in his chest, blood pooling around him, eyes closed, a smile on his face. The smile only the fiery elven maid could bring out of him.

Their story was told over and over again. It turned from history, into legend, into myth. The ages came and went, evil was conquered and good won. Lives were born and these lives died. But they say that true love goes on forever. And they have lived forever.

If you look up at the sky, you will see the stars of the elven maid and the dwarf prince. The brightest pair of stars that meets your gaze, those are the two lovers that made the impossible to be together. Their love was forbidden in life. But in Death, what is there to stop them? Nothing.

The eons pass, and they dance on forevermore, in the light of the stars.
