You're never going to see your father again … You're never going to see your father again ... You're never going to see your father again ... You're never going to see your father again ... You're never going to see your father again …

Meg, the one that worked for the demon that killed my mother. The demon that murdered Pastor Jim and Caleb. The demon that got my father, claiming we'll never see him again. The demon that held pleasure in destroying my family without feeling any remorse. I already came to terms with the fact that demons weren't saints, they ruin people's lives, I guess that's what they do. I had just hoped they didn't choose my family to mess with.

My pillow was wet from the tears I had shed and I turned my face to the other, dry side. I was currently at Bobby's place, in my bedroom, the only room I possessed. My eyes wandered over the pictures hanging on the walls painted in light blue. They all held memories of the good times in my short life. They were placed in the shape of a sun with a picture of my Mom in the center because my whole life revolved around her. My family sacrificed themselves every day for her, they wanted to get revenge for her, every single thing they did was for her. And I felt so guilty for feeling this tinge of anger towards her. A part of me realized that if she hadn't died, none of this would've happened. I wanted to punch myself for even thinking that way. That woman saved my life, she died for me. So maybe I was to blame – if I had never been born, maybe my family wouldn't be in this situation either.

This was all my fault.

I didn't care what my brothers and Dad told me, I didn't care that I was just a baby or that I had nothing to do with it. Sam thought it was his fault too, but Mom didn't die when she was with him, she died when she was with me.

The more I looked around my room, the more I got reminded of what I had lost. My very first Bible on my desk was coated in dust, serving as a coaster because I didn't like feeling the texture of my desk whenever I wrote on a sheet of paper. I got it on my seventh birthday from Pastor Jim, he said it was a good way to practice my reading.

Caleb's hat hung on my rack. It looked old, dirty and the white color was faded into almost gray. I remember him giving it to me once when he took me to practice with my new bicycle. It was so hot that day, I couldn't concentrate because I kept squinting from the blaring sun. He had offered me his hat and I've never given it back since.

And then there was my Dad's coat wrapped around me. I remember three years ago, I was at Bobby's and fell asleep on my Dad's lap outside on the porch. When I woke up the next morning I found myself in my bed with his heavy jacket covering me. I recalled asking Bobby where my brothers and Dad went and he only promised me they would come back. True to his word, two weeks later my father and Dean did come back but without Sam. He stayed in California.

I buried my face in my Dad's jacket, closing my eyes while imaging he was right here next to me. His coat had been here for years but his scent never left. As I used it to cover myself, the painful realization that this was all an illusion and that he wasn't present, hit me hard. I was sick of him being gone all the time, I was sick of all these monsters and demons taking all these people I loved away from me. They had no right to do such thing, they had no right to take what wasn't theirs but mine.

My family was so caught up in avenging my mother's death but I didn't even care anymore. I realized that we have taken things for granted. Instead of trying to bring justice to what happened to my Mom, they should have let it go. Nothing was going to bring her back anyway. The only thing we got from chasing that stupid yellow eyed demon is losing more people. And I didn't want to risk not having my family with me. Right now Meg had my father, and my only concern was to get him back, I don't even care if they will kill her or Azazel. Just give me back my Dad so we could be a family again.

I sniffed, wiping my face with my sleeves. My cheeks and the skin around my eyes felt tender and irritated from all the tears. I had this constant lump in my throat, just taunting me to scream all my emotions out at the top of my longs until I had nothing left in my body. And I wanted to, I really did but I couldn't. The only thing I could do was crawl into a ball, tuck my knees in and pretend I could disappear together with all the anger, sadness and hurt bottling up inside me.

"Emmy?"

I didn't respond to the knock on the door, knowing that Sam would come in anyway. As predicted, the door opened with a screech as he walked in. I felt the bed dip next to me and I buried my head deeper in my Dad's jacket. My brother's hand was on my back, rubbing circles in a soothing motion. I wanted to tell him to leave me alone but deep down I craved his touch. The touch that told me not everyone had left me yet, I still had him and Dean and Bobby. His touch couldn't take the pain away but it could ease the ache and lift a small portion of the burden I carried on my shoulders.

I felt the sobs bubbling inside me, trying to find a way to escape but I bit my lips so hard to hold them in, I thought I would draw blood. I found myself overwhelmed by the emotions, especially with my Dad's scent and Sam's comforting touch. My shoulders shook as I silently cried.

"Aw, honey."

I felt the familiar weight of the jacket lift off me before I got transferred to my brother's lap. He held me tightly, slightly rocking me back and forth. I clung to him as if afraid I'd lose him too, afraid he would disappear if I didn't keep him in reach. I hid my face in his shoulder, wetting his shirt in the process.

"Shh, it's okay, honey," he whispered as his fingers combed through my hair while occasionally dropping a kiss on my head. "Everything's gonna be alright."

Didn't he get it? Nothing was going to be alright. We were already way in too deep, past the point of no return.

It took me several minutes to put myself together. I lifted my head from Sam's shoulder, wiping my nose with the back of my hand. My brother stroked my tear-streaked cheeks, pressing his lips between my eyebrows. I closed my eyes, relishing the touch.

"You ready to leave your room?" he asked me gently. "You haven't eaten anything since last night."

"I'm not hungry." I rasped, sounding like I'd been yelling for hours nonstop.

"I know you probably don't feel like it, but an empty stomach isn't gonna make you feel any better. You have to eat something, honey. It can get your mind off of things," he coaxed softly. "I can fix you a sandwich with some PB&J."

"Uncle Bobby doesn't have any peanut butter, especially not with Rumsfeld around."

"True." Sam chuckled and I couldn't help but crack a small smile too. "Let's go downstairs." He lifted me up from his lap before setting me down on the carpeted floor.

"Let me freshen up a little first," I said. I got in my conjoint bathroom – another advantage of having my own room – and I washed my face and fixed my hair. When I emerged from the bathroom, I found Sam waiting for me. I took his outstretched hand and let him lead me downstairs to Bobby's office.

The old man's desk was littered with papers and books as usual. Untidy was an understatement, but he somehow still had his own system where he could magically find everything in the mess. The walls were also cluttered with papers of weird symbols and maps. A year ago, I would've thought he was into some crazy stuff, I had never really questioned it, but now I knew what they all meant. Same went for the books lined up on the shelves. I used to find it weird how some of them were written in Latin or how they were almost all about mythical creatures. I just thought Bobby was into that kinda stuff, I could tell he was obsessed with it because the amount of information he had on those things was high above the average but I never judged, there was nothing wrong with it. I was so oblivious, I wish I knew back then what I know now. My life would have made so much sense.

"How're ya doin' darlin'?" Bobby asked causing Dean to turn around from the chair he was straddling. Worry was written all over his face. He moved to the small couch beside the window and motioned for me to come over to him.

I gave a shrug at Bobby's question, the one that said I was okay but not really. I crossed the room to sit next to Dean, letting him wrap his arms around me.

"I'm gonna fix her something to eat," Sam spoke up from the doorway. "You guys want anything?"

"I got everything I need in here," Bobby said as he patted the bottom drawer of his desk that contained all his liquor. He used to keep that locked because of me snooping around when I was younger, I wonder if he still put a lock on it.

"I'm good," Dean replied.

I watched as Sam started for the kitchen, tucking my sock clad feet beneath me and resting my head on my brother's shoulder. His hand moved to the back of my neck, gently massaging the taut muscles.

"Hey Bobby, you think you can give Emmy's necklace a touch up," Dean spoke up when his fingers brushed the silver chain.

"What's wrong with it?" Bobby asked as he adjusted his hat.

"Back when we were dealing with this coven of vampires, two of them caught her scent on us."

I frowned, looking up at my brother. They never told me that.

"Well, isn't that what vamps normally do?" Bobby said confused as if he didn't get what the problem seemed to be.

"Bobby you should've seen their faces, they were practically drooling." Dean's arm wrapped around my shoulder protectively, I bet he didn't even realize he was doing it.

"What does it mean?" I asked.

Bobby stood up from his chair and walked around his desk to lean on it. "The pureness of your soul has a direct influence on your blood. Vamps already have sensitive senses, especially when it comes to smelling blood, but yours – well, let's just say that your blood smells different, more intense."

"Isn't the necklace supposed to, I don't know, conceal her scent or something?" Dean commented.

"That's the initial purpose. In fact I'm surprised they didn't track her down. It shoulda been easy as pie."

Dean's arms tightened around me. "Well, let's just say we dealt with all of them before they could even think about harming her."

"I can give it a look, see what I can do about it." Bobby motioned for my necklace.

I froze, hesitant on whether to take it off or not. My family had always drilled it into my head to never take it off. I had never understood why, but now I do, and I didn't want to attract any unwanted attention.

Apparently Dean shared the same concerns. "Bobby, I don't think that's a good idea-"

"Boy, I know this house here looks like a dump but you ain't gonna find a place safer than this."

My brother thought about it for a minute before he sighed, giving in. I let him take off my necklace and I immediately felt naked, already missing the familiar weight against my chest. Once Bobby had the necklace in his hand, he turned it around a couple of times, scrutinizing the silver butterfly.

Dean cupped my chin. "Don't go anywhere without one of us around, okay?"

I noticed Bobby rolling his eyes at my brother's overprotectiveness but I choose to ignore it. "Okay," I nodded.

Sam entered the room with a sandwich and a glass of milk. He perched himself on the couch next to me and I took the plate he offered me, placing it on my lap. I wasn't hungry but I knew if I didn't eat now it wouldn't get them off my back. I offered my brother a small smile in thanks before I nibbled on my sandwich.

Sam was already buried in a book when I heard the familiar clicking sound of a lock as Bobby opened the drawer of his desk. So apparently he still did lock the thing. He took out two flasks, handing one to Dean.

Dean took a sniff. "What is this, holy water?"

"That one is." Bobby held out the other flask. "This is whiskey."

Dean took a swig from the whiskey, briefly pinching his eyes closed from the burning sensation. "Bobby, thanks. Thanks for everything. To tell you the truth, I wasn't sure we should come."

"Nonsense," he brushed off. "Your Daddy needs help."

I wiped my milky mustache away with my sleeve. "Will you help us find him?"

"Off course I will, darlin'. I know your father and I haven't left on good terms but none of that matters right now. All that matters is that we'll get him back," he reassured me.

"Bobby, this book," Sam started as he flicked through the pages, "I've never seen anything like it."

"Key of Solomon? It's the real deal, alright."

I heard Rumsfeld barking outside and I was reminded that I haven't said hi to my friend yet. "Dean can I go play with Rumsfeld?" I asked quietly.

"Finish your plate first, sweetheart," he said, his fingers still tangled in my hair.

"And these, uh, these protective circles," Sam looked from the book. "They really work?"

"Hell, yeah," Bobby exclaimed. "You get a demon in, they're trapped. Powerless. It's like a Satanic roach motel," he said causing Sam to chuckle.

Dean nodded, impressed. "Man, knows his stuff."

"I'll tell you something else, too." Bobby's eyes were fixed on my brothers, fixing them with a pointed look. "This is some serious crap you boys stepped in."

My brothers exchanged a quick glance over my head. Sam cleared his throat, "Oh, yeah? How's that?"

Bobby crossed his arms over his chest, making him appear bigger. "Normal year, I hear of, say, three demonic possessions. Maybe four, tops."

"Yeah?" Dean cocked an eyebrow, silently pushing him to elaborate.

Rumsfeld started barking again and I quickly finished my sandwich so that I could get to him.

"This year I hear of 27 so far." We all went quiet. "You get what I'm saying? More and more demons are walking among us, a lot more."

"Do you know why?" Sam questioned.

Bobby shook his head. "No, but I know it's something big. The storm's coming, and you kids, your Daddy, you are smack in the middle of it."

The barking of the dog grew louder and I just knew something was up, this wasn't his usual bark. I put my plate away and sat up on the couch on my knees, turned towards the window. I pushed the curtains aside and I instantly saw the chain hanging broken and the dog nowhere in sight.

I swallowed hard. This didn't feel right. "Uncle Bobby …"

"What is it?" he walked over to me and cursed under his breath. "Something's wrong."

Not more than a second later, the door suddenly got kicked in with such a force I was surprised it didn't get off the hinges. A blonde woman with a pixie hair style sauntered in with a murderous look, one that shot shivers up my spine. My brothers jumped to their feet, automatically forming a wall in front of me.

"No more crap, okay?" the girl snapped.

I could see Dean reaching behind him for something, he pointed at the flask containing holy water on the little table next to the couch. I quickly took it and handed it over to him. After unscrewing it, he threw it at her but she hit him, sending him flying into a stack of books. He kept lying there motionless and worry made me move towards him but Bobby had a hold on me, keeping me behind him.

Sam placed himself between Bobby and the woman.

"I want the Colt, Sam, the real Colt, right now," she ordered through gritted teeth, her eyes shooting daggers.

Sam and Bobby were slowly moving across the room, dragging me with them, causing the girl to follow.

"We don't have it on us. We buried it," Sam said.

Her jaw ticked. "Didn't I say no more crap? I swear, after everything I heard about you Winchesters, I got to tell you, I'm a little underwhelmed," she chuckled menacingly. I caught a movement behind her and let out a sigh in relief when I saw Dean. "First Johnny tries to pawn off a fake gun, and then he leaves the real gun with you two chuckleheads. Lackluster, men. I mean, did you really think I wouldn't find you?"

My brother stepped behind her. "Actually, we were counting on it."

She turned to look at him. Dean stared at her, then looked up at the ceiling. I followed his gaze and for the first time I noticed a large symbol etched there. It hadn't been there before, so it must've been recent.

Dean smirked. "Gotcha."

SPN

Meg.

The woman downstairs, tied to a chair, was the demon. The one that used my brother Sam to get closer to our family. The one that killed Caleb and Pastor Jim – but more importantly, the one that got my Dad. I've never hated anyone with every fiber in my body until I met her. I still couldn't believe that my brothers once thought that she was just a human being. I mean look at her! Her eyes were so dark brown, they could easily be black. Her smile was nowhere near friendly, it was malicious. And her entire stature just screamed evil. How can you not see that she's bad.

I watched as Dean drew some weird symbols on my bedroom door with white spray paint. He said he didn't want me anywhere near that demon bitch – his words not mine. I didn't argue with him, knowing that I wasn't really in a good position right now. I had no idea how to deal with a demon, I heard they're very manipulative and sanctimonious. There's also the fact that I didn't have my necklace on me, hence why Dean was making my room demon-proof.

"Is the paint gonna come off?" I asked.

Dean briefly checked the spray can. By the look on his face I knew it was permanent. "We can still repaint your door," he offered.

I rolled my eyes as I moved to look through the window where I could see Rumsfeld's chain. "I'm worried about Rumsfeld."

"He'll be okay, sweetheart. He probably was just scared and ran off."

"What if he doesn't find his way back home?" I asked worriedly. "Or what if Meg did something and hurt him?"

Dean sighed behind me. "I'm sure he's fine, Emmy. He'll come back, and if he doesn't we'll go look for him."

"I wanna go look for him now," I pouted. If Dean was right and he ran away because Meg scared him, I was afraid he'd never come back. The Rottweiler was also getting old, so he wasn't in good shape anymore and he could've stranded somewhere for all we know. Or worse, someone could've taken him or killed him.

I felt Dean's heavy hands on my shoulders as he turned me around to face him. "I don't want you out of this house until I know it's safe out there for you."

"But how long is that gonna take?"

"I don't know sweetheart. We can't afford taking risks right now," he said as he perched himself on my bed.

"What are you gonna do with Meg?" I questioned as I walked over to him.

"We'll try to get some information out of her about Dad's whereabouts, that's for sure," he answered, pulling me between his legs.

I let his arms settle around my waist as I fiddled with his amulet. "What does she want from him?"

"The Colt."

I heard my Dad talking about it with my brothers. "The gun that can kill anything," I said, referring to our father's words. Dean nodded. "And he wants it to kill Azazel."

"That's the plan," Dean confirmed.

I went quiet for a couple seconds, chewing my bottom lip in thought.

"Penny for your thoughts?" Dean squeezed me closer to him.

"I don't want to say it." I dropped his amulet and decided to fiddle with the collar of his flannel shirt instead. "You're gonna be mad at me."

My brother ducked his head to meet my eye. "I won't be mad at you, sweetheart. You know you can tell me anything."

I slowly made eye contact, trying to read his eyes. The only thing I found in his green orbs were assurance, love and trust. I swallowed hard before I focused back on his collar. "I don't want you to kill Azazel."

I could feel my brother's gaze on me but I didn't have the courage to stare back at him. Dean cleared his throat. "You don't want us to kill the demon that murdered our Mom?"

Well, if you put it that way … "It's not gonna bring her back anyway," I mumbled.

Dean's arms tightened around me and I knew I hit a sore spot. My brother knew that we were never going to get her back, he just didn't like anyone shoving it in his face. It normally wasn't like me to point that painful fact out, but I just had to. I had to make them realize that all those sacrifices they made weren't worth it.

"You're right about that," Dean broke the silence.

"Then why even bother?" I wondered out loud.

"Cause I would sleep a lot better at night knowing that the son of a bitch can't harm any other innocent person, especially not my family," he replied. "You want him to hurt more people?"

"No!" My head shot up to give him a knowing look. "I just don't want you guys to get hurt."

"Don't worry about us, sweetheart. We can handle it," he reassured me.

I snorted in disbelief. "If you could handle it, Dad would be here right now."

Dean cupped my cheek, his thumb brushing my chin. "When you're in a battle, stuff like that is inevitable. People get hurt along the way, we make sacrifices and things don't always go as planned. But sometimes, all of that is worth it if it means that in the end we win."

"I don't wanna win if it means losing one of you," I muttered, looking down at my hands.

My brother sighed before he placed me on his lap, tucking me close to him. "Emmy, you're not gonna lose anyone."

Tears welled up in my eyes. "We already lost Caleb and Pastor Jim, who says they're not gonna kill Dad, too?" I asked, my voice breaking.

"Emmy, baby, don't think like that." Tears rolled down my cheeks and he wiped them away with his hand. "They're gonna have to get through me first and I don't easily throw in the towel."

"What about you," I sniffled. "What if you or Sammy or uncle Bobby are in danger?"

"We got each other's' back, sweetheart." He brushed my bangs away from my face before tucking them behind my ears. "That's why I want you to stay here, where you're safe. There's no telling what these demons are capable of and I don't wanna risk you getting hurt."

I wrapped my arms around his neck. "I don't wanna risk you getting hurt either," I mumbled against his shoulder.

"I know sweetheart, I know." He rubbed my back as he hugged me against him. "But don't worry about me, okay? You wanna know why?" I nodded. "Cause I'm Batman," he whispered in my ear, briefly tickling my side.

I squirmed in his hold. He continued tickling me, causing me to giggle.

"Ah, there's the sound I love so much," he smiled. "Now show me those cute dimples of yours." He started poking my cheeks and I shoved his hand away.

"Dean, stop it," I said as I turned away from him.

"Not until you show me that pretty smile," he pressed, still poking my cheeks. "Come on, Emmy, just a quick smile. For me. Or do you want me to tickle it out of you," he taunted, his fingers trailing up my sides.

I grabbed his hands and stopped him from going any further. "Okay, okay. I'll give you your stupid smile." I quickly smiled before dropping it.

"That wasn't a real smile. I want a real a smile."

He could be such a child sometimes. I smiled again, a little longer this time. "Now you happy?"

Dean grinned, dropping a smooching kiss on my cheek. Ew. "Yes I am, cutie pie." I was about to wipe off my cheek when he stopped me. "Don't wipe it off cause I'll only kiss you again."

"Fine," I rolled my eyes.

He winked and put me on my bed before he got to his feet. "You're gonna be okay in here for a while?"

"Do I have a choice?"

"Nope," he said as he checked the salt lines by the window and the dried paint. "Okay, now listen to me closely. Stay here and don't even think of coming out of the room, okay? If you need us, give us a call with your cell phone but don't leave this room. Got it?"

I nodded. "What am I supposed to do in here anyway? I'll be bored out of my mind."

"I'll get you Sam's laptop and you can play on it or something. How's that sound?"

I shrugged. "Okay, I guess."

My brother sighed and walked over to me. "We'll come get you as soon as we dealt with Meg. In the meantime you – "

"Stay here," I finished for him. "I got it."

"Good." He nodded. He dropped a kiss on my head before he started for the door.

"Dean?"

He turned around with his hand on the knob. "Yeah, sweetheart."

"Thanks for the talk … and for trying to make me smile."

Dean smiled that rare smile that warmed my heart. "Anything for you, cutie pie."

Sitting on the window sill, I occasionally let my eyes wander from Sam's laptop screen to the yard outside. I was hoping to catch a glimpse from Rumsfeld but he hadn't shown himself since he ran away and I was starting to get worried. I was itching to go downstairs, sneak outside and search for him. I would call his name, knowing that he always replied to my calls. Always.

I absently tapped my fingers against the keyboard, my Tetris game long forgotten. I couldn't concentrate with all the commotion downstairs. I put the computer aside and walked over to my door. I pressed the side of my face against it, straining my ear to hear what was going on. The voices were muffled but I could still distinguish them as they talked. I startled when I suddenly heard the scrape of a chair.

"You think this is a frigging game? Where is he!" Dean shouted. "What did you do to him?"

I swallowed hard, my throat suddenly feeling dry like a desert. I wanted to hear what Meg had to say but her voice was too low. I gasped when the sound of a loud slap echoed through the house. Would my brothers or even Bobby hit a girl? That just didn't sound like them. Curiosity got the best of me and I carefully turned the knob on my door as I slowly pushed it open. I stopped short when the hinges screeched, I bit my bottom lip, hoping they didn't hear the sound. Several seconds passed as I made sure they didn't pick up anything before I opened the door enough for me to slip out of my room. Dean is so going to kill me for this.

I tiptoed down the hall to the stairs. An advantage of practically growing up in this house is that I perfectly knew which spots I had to sidestep to avoid the crackling noises. I went down the stairs at a slow pace, but abruptly stopped when I caught Bobby's voice from his living room. The doors were closed so obviously they couldn't see me, but I could perfectly hear them.

"She's possessed. That's a human possessed by a demon. Can't you tell?" His gravelly voice pointed out.

"Are you trying to tell me there's an innocent girl trapped somewhere in there?" Dean sounded shocked and I even caught a tinge of guilt. I bet he was the one who slapped her and maybe he felt sorry. "That's actually good news."

I frowned at his determined and harsh tone. What was he up to?

"What's that supposed to mean?" Sam asked.

"It means we can exorcise the demon out of her."

I hurried back upstairs when the door opened and hid behind the balustrade, out of my brothers' and Bobby's sight. I heard him mutter something about a book he had containing the right spells and rituals to ward off demons from persons. I waited until he closed the door to his office before I went back down the stairs.

I hesitated as I stood in front of the door leading to the living room where Meg was tied up. A part of me was too scared to enter but another part – a stronger part – wanted to go in there and confront her. Maybe my approach would get the answers out of her. I've seen it many times on TV – there's the bad cop and good cop. My brothers and Bobby were obviously the bad cops, so what if I'm the good one? It couldn't hurt to try.

Right?

I casted one last look behind me to make sure my family wouldn't catch me before I took a deep breath, mustering up enough courage to open the door. I didn't know what I expected, but I certainly didn't think she'd sit there with a big smile, her dark eyes twinkling as if she just won the lottery.

"Well, well," she started slowly, her eyes taking every inch of me in. "Finally I get to meet the legendary Mary-Elisabeth Winchester."

I pushed the door with a trembling hand, closing it with a soft click. I let my own eyes wander over her, remembering Bobby saying that she was just a girl trapped in her own body. Poor thing … I tried to see her as the innocent woman she might be, but it looked like the demon had already monopolized every little aspect of her; from the hard features down to her sharp tongue, making her look nowhere near innocent.

She whistled. "Well, aren't you the most adorable little thing I've ever laid eyes upon. Damn, pretty doesn't even come close to describing you. You're even making me jealous," she smiled in a way that made me want to turn around and go back to my room, far away from her. "I know my father told me about your unique soul and the way it radiates but I never expected it to be this intense. You're practically glowing and I can feel your aura. It makes me all warm and fuzzy inside."

My hand absently went to my collar, when I remembered that I had taken off my necklace. I didn't really feel different without it, I just kinda missed the familiar weight of it resting against my chest. But now, I felt weaponless, weak but mostly vulnerable.

"My name is Meg by the way."

"I-I know," I whispered, my voice trembling.

"Oh, look at that. She talks." Her eyes widened in mock surprise. "So watcha doing here, princess? Cause I know for a fact that those bowlegged brothers of yours would never let you anywhere near sweet me."

My voice caught in my throat and I suddenly forgot why I was even here in the first place. I fidgeted, wringing my hands as I thought of the most effective way to ask her about my Dad.

"I-I just wanted to know where h-he is."

"Johnny boy?" She cocked an eyebrow. "He's dead."

I tried to ignore the big lump in my throat and the tears stinging my eyes. "I-I know you're lying. Please just tell me where my Dad is-"

"Your Dad?" She repeated in disbelief. I didn't understand what she was talking about and my confusion must've shown on my face because she suddenly snorted. "I can't believe it," she muttered under her breath before she started laughing. I felt like I was missing the punch line, because I didn't get the joke.

"W-what is it?"

"Oh, this is so much better than I thought," she grinned. "You don't know do you?"

"Know what?"

"You know I don't think your daddy deserves you. He obviously only keep secrets from you, lying to you all the time."

I jutted my jaw, defending my father. "That's not true." Okay, so he might not always have been honest to me, but that's what families do right? He did it to protect me, not to hurt me.

"Oh it is, sweet pea." She offered me a compassionate look as if she felt bad for me. "You know who'd be a better father to you? Someone who wouldn't lie, use you or even mistreat you." She didn't wait for me to answer her. "My father … Azazel."

"He's y-your Dad?" I repeated haltingly, horrified at the thought that her father was the one that killed my Mom and now has my Dad. Do demons even have parents?

"You belong to him and not to that so called man you call daddy," she mocked.

I shook my head. "I don't belong to him."

"Look on the bright side, we could be sisters. How fun is that?" she winked.

I kept shaking my head. "I don't belong to him," I repeated in denial.

"Yes you do. Your mother promised to offer her precious baby girl to daddy dearest, he has every right to collect what belongs to him. But your stupid jerk of a father got in the way and took what wasn't his. You."

No, she was lying. She had to be. She was messing around with my head, trying to win me over but I wasn't about to let that happen. I might be naïve and oblivious at times but I wasn't that stupid either. I knew where my loyalty lay and it wasn't with her nor Azazel.

"Stop lying," I spat. My hands weren't shaking anymore, my voice stopped trembling, my feet were solid against the floor and my stance was resolute. I was mad. As if she wasn't already on my people-that-I-hate-list after she took my Dad away from me, but now she was close to ending up on my people-that-I want-to-kill-list for even having the audacity to spew all these lies, trying to manipulate me.

"I know I'm a demon, sweetie, and I know we lie. But we love nothing more than hurting people with the truth."

Her lips curled into a cruel smirk and it took everything in me not to lash out. I felt a single tear roll down my cheek but I quickly wiped it away. Meg seemed to enjoy seeing how she got to me, even though I tried to hide my true emotions. But no matter what, my eyes always gave it away, they never had my back, instead they betrayed me all the time. Dad used to say he could read me like an open book just by looking at my eyes, the doors to my soul.

Speaking of doors, the one behind me opened and I cursed myself for not paying enough attention or I would've heard them coming this way.

"What the hell?" That was Dean. "Emmy what did I just tell you!"

I felt a pair of arms wrap around me from behind as they pulled me towards a hard chest. "Honey, you okay?" Sam whispered in my ear.

I didn't answer and simply never took my eyes off Meg and neither did she broke eye contact with me. I could practically see the satisfaction in her eyes and it only made me want to strangle her. Not that I'll ever have the courage to do so, but no one said I couldn't strangle her in my mind.

"Oops, seems like someone's in trouble," she snickered.

Dean shoved an accusing finger in her face. "Don't talk to her."

Meg simply winked at me with a mischievous look, the one you use when you share a secret with someone, something between her and me. I didn't want to have anything to do with her, let alone share something as stupid as a secret.

My brothers seemed to have noticed the exchange because Sam's arms tightened around me and Dean stepped in her line of vision, blocking her from seeing me. "Hey, don't even look at her," he growled.

"Calm your tits, it's just something between us girls, right little sis?" she ducked her head to see me only to have Dean push her back forcefully.

"I said, don't talk to her," he forced through clenched teeth.

"Alright, enough chitchat." Bobby clapped his hands. "Let's get to it."

"Are you gonna read me a story?" Meg's voice mocked as she watched Sam taking out a book.

"Something like that," was Dean's snarky reply. "Hit it, Sam."

My brother kept a protective arm around me while he used his other hand to read from the book. "Regna terrae, cantate deo, psallite domino – "

Meg started laughing wickedly. "An exorcism? Are you serious?"

I held onto Sam's hand against my chest, as I listened to him reciting the Latin verses – or at least that's what I think it was.

"Oh we're going for it, baby," Dean smiled but it didn't reach his eyes. "Head spinning, projectile vomiting, the whole nine yards."

As Sam continued, I caught Meg flinch in pain. She briefly pinched her eyes closed, her knuckles turning white as she gripped the chair's armrests.

"I'm gonna kill you," she spat. She looked at Dean with a murderous look, "I'm gonna rip the bones from your body."

Dean took a step closer to her with a calm and collected composure. I still didn't understand how he could be so fearless, I wish I was like him. "No, you're gonna burn in hell. Unless you tell us where our Dad is." The only reply he got was a taunting smile. "Well, at least you'll get a nice tan." He glanced up at our brother, motioning for him to continue.

Despite his hesitation, Sam continued the exorcism. I never took my eyes off Meg and I gulped as she started shaking, beads of sweat appearing on her skin. Her jaw clenched and her nostrils flared and it was obvious she was in pain. I felt a tinge of guilt, a part of me wanted to get her out of her misery, but I had to remind myself that my brothers weren't hurting her, they were helping the poor girl she was possessing. We were doing her a favor. The demon could burn for all I care.

Meg suddenly gasped loudly, causing Sam to stop. The room went quiet and I could feel the tension hanging around. I briefly thought it was over until she lifted her head up enough for us to see her. "He begged for his life with tears in his eyes. He begged to see his children one last time." Her eyes darted between my brothers until they settled on me, the corner of her lips lifted up in a cruel smirk. "That's when I slit his throat."

"NO!" I managed to escape from Sam's arms as I lunged for her, only to have Dean catch me. "Let go of me!" She was lying – she was a lying, manipulative, evil monster!

My brother trapped me in his hold as he took a step further away from Meg who was looking like she enjoyed everything. Sam started reading again, making her wince and I suddenly wanted her to do more than just wince. I wanted her to scream out from the pain, I wanted her to beg us for mercy, I wanted her to feel the pain she brought down on us.

"For your sake, I hope you're lying," Dean warned her. "Cause if it's true, I swear to God, I will march into hell myself and I will slaughter each and every one of you evil sons of bitches, so help me God!"

Sam started reading a little faster, almost tumbling over his own words. "Perditionis venenum propinare. Vade, satana, inventor et magister omnis fallaciae. Hostis humanae salutis. Humiliare sub potenti manu dei. Contremisce et effuge. Invocato a nobis sancto et terribile nomine –"

"Where is he?" Dean demanded again as wind started to blow in the room.

Meg swiftly licked her lips as she snorted. "You just won't take dead for an answer, will you?"

"Where is he?!" Dean growled, his chest rumbling against my back.

"Dead!"

"No, he's not! He's not dead! He can't be!" Dean yelled. I could feel his muscles tense and I knew he was this close to totally losing it. I don't think I've ever seen my brother this upset. Sam's reciting had ceased until Dean gave him a look. "What are you looking at? Keep reading."

Sam cleared his throat before he picked up where he left off. "Ab insidis diaboli, libera nos, domine. Ut ecclesiam tuam secura tibi facias, libertate servire, te rogamus, audi nos. Ut inimicos sanctae ecclesiae humiliare digneris, to rogamus – "

The chair started to slide around the circle as Meg almost convulsed. Her hair was matted against her forehead while she moaned in pain. "He will be!"

Dean's hold on me visibly loosened at her words. "Wait! What?"

The demon swallowed hard, her breathing was shallow. "He's not dead. But he will be after what we do to him."

Dean still didn't let go of me but I suddenly didn't feel like attacking her, I only wanted to know where my Dad was.

"How do we know you're telling the truth?" Dean asked with a challenging tone.

She cocked a single eyebrow. "You don't."

Dean gave our brother a sign to continue. "Sam!"

Meg's eyes jumped between my brothers. I could see she wasn't in for the torture again. "A building! Okay?" Sam stopped. "A building in Jefferson City," she added more quietly.

"Missouri? Where? An address!" Dean demanded.

"I don't know!" she shot back.

Sam cleared his throat, pulling her attention. "And the demon, the one we're looking for, where is it?"

"I don't know! I swear!" she yelled, getting all defensive. "That's everything. That's all I know."

Dean looked at her for several seconds, his face void of any emotions which made it almost impossible for me to read his mind, that's until he said, "Finish it."

Meg's eyes widened, her jaw slacked. "What? I told you the truth!"

"I don't care," he shrugged as he pulled me with him to where Bobby was standing.

"You son of a bitch, you promised!" she yelled in disbelief.

"I lied!" was Dean's simple retort. "Sam?"

Sam didn't say anything and it was clear he was debating his next move. When Dean called his name again, he moved over to us. "Maybe we can still use her. Find out where the demon is," he suggested with a hushed tone.

"She doesn't know," Dean insisted.

Sam sighed. "She lied."

Dean got closer to Sam, automatically pulling me along until I was standing between my two giant brothers. "Sam, there's an innocent girl trapped somewhere in there. We've got to help her."

"You're gonna kill her." Bobby suddenly appeared next to us.

Dean was momentarily rendered speechless. "What?"

Bobby scratched at the nape of his neck as he turned his back on Meg. "You said she fell from a building. That girl's body is broken. The only thing keeping her alive is that demon inside. You exorcise it," he casted my brothers a pointed look, "that girl is going to die."

"Listen to me, both of you, we are not gonna leave her like that," Dean stressed.

"She is a human being," Bobby reasoned.

I was honestly torn. I wanted the demon out of her but at what costs?

"And we're gonna put her out of her misery," Dean decided firmly. "Sam, finish it."

Sam's eyes switched between us and Meg. At Dean's order he took a deep breath, and continued the spell. "Dominicos sanctae ecclesiae, terogamus audi nos, terribilis deus do sanctuario suo deus israhel. Ipse tribuite virtutem et fortitudinem plebi suae, benedictus deus, gloria patri – "

Meg started shaking to the point I thought she was going to knock herself over. She then suddenly threw her head back and let out an inhuman scream. My breath hitched as I took in the black cloud leaving through her mouth. I felt my brother pulling me back to him, wrapping an arm around me protectively. The black smoke spread out in the protective circle in the ceiling before it disappeared. I let out a breath I didn't even know I was holding.

Meg leaned forward, her body like a sack of potatoes. Her eyes were closed and blood dripped from her mouth. We all stood there looking at her, not sure if it was really over until she grunted and slowly lifted her head.

"She's still alive," Dean breathed. He released me and got over to help her. "Bobby, call 911. Get some water and blankets."

I watched as my brothers proceeded to untie Meg. "Thank you," she whispered. I assessed her, feeling unsure about whether she was herself or if the demon was still talking. I couldn't imagine having someone else control my body, making me do inexplicable things.

"Shh," Sam said. "Just take it easy, alright?"

"Come on. Let's get her down," Dean decided. "Emmy, come give us a hand sweetheart."

I snapped out of my thoughts and jumped into action. My brothers carefully lifted her from the chair, lowering her to the floor. There was the sickening sound of bones crushing, causing her to scream in pain. Once she was settled, I moved behind her and placed her head on my lap. Her eyes met mine and she gave me a broken smile, one that made compassion and remorse flow over me.

"What?" Sam asked when she mumbled something too quiet for us to hear.

She swallowed with difficulty, barely managing to keep her eyes open. "It's been a year."

"Shh, just take it easy," Sam told her gently.

"I've been awake for some of it. I couldn't move my own body." A silent tear rolled down her bloody cheek, the two fluids mixed together giving it a pink tint. "The things I did – it's a nightmare."

"Was it telling us the truth about our Dad?" Dean asked, getting straight to the point. I gave him a disapproving look, regardless of the fact that I wanted to know, too.

"Dean," Sam said.

"We need to know," he persisted.

"Yes," Meg's voice cracked. "But it wants you to know that ... they want you to come for him."

Dean exchanged a look with Sam and I. "If Dad's still alive, none of that matters."

Bobby came in with a glass of water and a blanket. I held her head up a little so she could drink while Sam covered her.

"Where is the demon we're looking for?" Sam questioned.

"Not there," she shook her head while I wiped a trail of water from her chin with my sleeve. "Other ones. Awful ones."

"Where are they keeping our Dad?" Dean asked.

Meg's breathing became shallow and I could feel her pulse getting weaker from where my hands were supporting her neck. "By the river. Sunrise," she mumbled with difficulty, her eyelids unable to defy gravity.

"Sunrise," Dean repeated with a frown. "What does that mean? What does that mean?"

It was the weirdest feeling ever, having a person dying in your arms. I could feel her dead weight leaning on me and it took everything in me not to freak out. This wasn't what I wanted for her, she deserved to live, but maybe dying was the best case scenario for her. I don't think she would've been able to survive the trauma.

I walked into the hallway where my brothers were packing their bags. "Uncle Bobby told me to give you this," I said as I passed them some bottles of holy water and the Key of Solomon book.

Sam smiled up at me as he tucked it into his duffel bag. "Thanks, honey."

I leaned against the wall, crossing my arms over my chest, just watching my brothers.

Dean sighed. "Emmy, stop pouting."

"I'm not pouting," I pouted.

Dean rolled his eyes. "It's not gonna happen."

"But why?" I demanded. "You're forgetting that he's my Dad, too!" My brothers had made the stupid decision of leaving me here with Bobby. Something about my safety and protection, blah blah blah.

"Emmy, that's not the point okay. You know if Dad were here he would make the same decision. Stop fighting us on this cause we're not gonna change our minds," Dean used his serious tone, the one that said he didn't have time to play games. "Besides, you're grounded."

I raised my eyebrows. "For what?"

He gave me a knowing look. "For sneaking out of your room when I clearly told you not to."

"You guys are being unfair," I scowled.

"Honey, we've been through this already," Sam said as he walked over to me. "This isn't some hunt where we can drop you off at a motel. We're not dealing with some monster we can easily kill and get rid of, this is much bigger and more dangerous. And we don't wanna risk leaving you somewhere behind without one of us around. At least here, with Bobby, we know you're safe."

I knew he was making sense, he was right, they both were, but still. The fact that I had to stay at Bobby's wasn't really the issue, it was the fact that my brothers were going to be out of my sight which means I couldn't watch them … and risk losing them just like my Dad.

"Hey," Sam crouched in front of me, grabbing my chin, "we're gonna come back for you, you know that right?"

"With Dad?" I added, my eyes watering.

"With Dad," Sam nodded firmly. "Come here." He opened his arms and I threw myself at him, hugging him tightly. He stood back up, lifting me up in his arms as he rubbed my back.

I heard heavy footsteps coming our way. "You better hurry up and beat it before paramedics get here," Bobby said.

"What are you gonna tell them?" Dean asked as he zipped up his bag.

Bobby snorted. "You think you guys invented lying to the cops? I'll figure something out."

"Thanks," Dean cleared his throat, "for everything. Be careful, alright?"

"You just go find your Dad. And when you do, you bring him around, would you? I won't even try to shoot him this time," he chuckled.

Sam gave me a last squeeze, kissing me hard on the cheek before I got passed over to Dean's arms. He held me tightly, whispering in my ear to be good and that he would call me once they got Dad back. I nodded, hugging him tightly before giving him a kiss. He put me down and I felt Bobby's arm fall around me as we watched my brothers get to the front door.

"Take care of her," Dean told Bobby.

"Already way ahead of ya." Bobby's hand squeezed my shoulder.

SPN

I cupped my hands around my mouth and yelled for the hundredth time. "RUMSFELD!"

"Emmy, have some patience will ya," Bobby said from where he was working on his desk. "And close the damn window before you catch a cold."

I huffed, but did as he said. "Why don't you just let me go outside for five minutes?"

"Cause you're grounded," he reminded me.

"Dean didn't say for how long," I reasoned.

"I'm sure he didn't ground you for two hours, darlin'," he rolled his eyes.

I blew a sigh. "You sure Rumsfeld will come back?"

"Just put some peanut butter on the porch and he'll be here before you know it."

I snorted. "Dogs can't smell that far away."

Bobby looked up from what he was doing. "Rumsfeld can. Especially when there's peanut butter involved. I swear this is all your fault, you hooked him up on it and now he's too fat, he won't even come to get his food, he just waits for me to serve him like he's in some damn five star restaurant."

I giggled. "I'm sure it's not that bad, uncle Bobby."

"Oh, it is. And I'm holding you responsible." He pointed an accusing finger at me.

"Maybe he just takes after his boss."

"Watch it little girl." Bobby glared at me and it took everything in me not to burst into laughter, he was too easy to fool around with.

"So watcha doing?" I asked as I leaned on his desk.

"I'm trynna fix your necklace," he answered as he handed me a magnifying glass. "Hold that right there." With a sharp scalpel, he managed to separate the silver butterfly in two halves. Once he opened it, I could see some dark brown stuff in it. It looked like powder.

"I never knew you could open it, let alone put something in it," I remarked.

"Well, the purpose is to make it look like an ordinary necklace. An actual protective charm could draw too much attention."

That made sense, they did tend to look different which could possibly cause people to start asking questions. It reminded me of the very first hunt when we dealt with the Woman in White. The girlfriend of the victim, the one my brothers interviewed in the diner, also had a weird amulet.

"Watcha gonna do with the stuff in it?" I asked.

"It probably just needs to be changed. It's been working for ten years already, and the spell might have lost its power."

"Almost ten years," I corrected him.

Bobby looked up at me with confusion.

"I'm not ten yet," I explained.

He put down his glasses and cursed himself. "I knew there was something I was forgetting about next week."

I smiled. "It's okay, uncle Bobby."

"Remind me Friday when I go to town to get you something."

I waved his comment off. "You don't have to do that."

"Nonsense, I want to," he persisted.

"Well, if you insist …" I smiled up at him cheekily. "I love chocolate cake and cotton candy. Or a trip to the fair. Ooh, I know something, we could go to the movies, I hear the new Harry Potter movie is out. Or maybe just a new bicycle, cause my old one is getting too small."

"Alright, think I got enough ideas now."

"No, wait, I have a better idea! Going to the beach! Uncle Bobby, it would love to see you in swimming trucks," I laughed.

"Not if you wanna be scarred for life," he warned me causing me to laugh harder.

"But seriously, uncle Bobby. You don't have to get me anything."

The only thing I really want is my Daddy.

SPN

I stared at my phone, unable to fall asleep. None of my brothers had called me yet and I was starting to get worried. Maybe I shouldn't get ahead of myself, it was only midnight after all. But still I couldn't shake that nagging feeling of concern. I tried to call Sam and Dean, I even tried Dad, but it always went straight to voicemail. Bobby told me to give it time and not to rush to conclusions.

After several minutes, I gave up and tried calling Sam again. I was almost expecting his stupid voicemail again when I heard the sound of someone picking it up. I sat up with a start, almost making myself dizzy from the sudden move.

"Sammy?"

"Hey, honey. I was just about to call you."

I let out a long breath from relief at hearing his voice. "Are you okay? Is Dean okay? Where are you now? Did you guys find Dad? Please tell me you found Dad," I begged.

The line rustled as my brother let out a sigh. "Yeah, we found him, he's –"

I didn't let him finish his sentence, I already heard enough. "Can I talk to him?"

"Uh, he's kinda resting right now …" I could hear Dean's voice in the background and I wondered what he was saying until Sam continued, "Oh, he just got up. You're lucky. Here I'll pass you through."

"Daddy?"

"Hey, baby girl." I could practically hear his smile.

"Oh, Daddy I'm so happy to hear your voice. I was so worried about you, I thought I would never see you again," my voice broke.

"Oh, Emmy don't say that. You know that's not true."

"I couldn't help but think it, especially after everything Meg did." I closed my eyes, trying to keep the tears at bay when the thought of Caleb and pastor Jim, and even human Meg, flooded my mind.

"Well you don't have to worry about me, baby," he said. "I realized that I haven't always been a good father to you and you deserve so much better, so I promise from now on, I'll get my act together and be the Daddy you want me to be so we can be a family again."

"Together with Sammy and Dean."

He cleared his throat. "Yeah, together with Sam and Dean." He sounded like he wasn't really putting his heart in it, and I frowned a little.

"What about Azazel?"

"Right now, family is more important. We can deal with the demon later."

Well that didn't sound like my Dad at all. But I didn't think I had the right to call him out for it, since all I've been doing these last couple months is begging to be together again. I wanted us to be a family and deal with daily problems, like running out of milk instead of ammo.

"Okay."

"Emmy, you know I can be a better father, right?"

"I know Daddy."

"And you know I'll take better care of you?"

His persistence was unsettling and I wondered where that sudden urge to be a good father suddenly came from. "I-I know."

"That's my girl. Well, I gotta go now, baby."

"When will I see you again?" I asked.

"Soon. Very soon."

"Okay, well, be careful. Take care of Sam and Dean," I told him. "Love you, Daddy."

"I will. And I love you too, sweetheart."

I hung up and put my phone back on my nightstand. I lay down in bed, tucking myself under the covers and let out a long breath. He was okay, they were all okay, and that's what matters. Now I could finally grant myself some sleep, knowing that it won't be long until I would see them. And just like my Dad said, we would be a family again. I didn't really understand what he meant by being a better father, did that mean he'd quit hunting? He did imply he would put Azazel on hold, which must've been a hard decision to make. But maybe that showed how much he really loves us to the point he finally realized that change was needed if he wanted to keep our family together. I just hoped he'd keep his promise.

I closed my eyes, forcing myself to think of the good things instead of the bad. After everything that has happened, from learning about monsters to seeing them killed, not to mention all the nightmares, I was glad that there was a happy ending in sight. I felt like there was a chance for things to get better in time.

Wait a minute …

Just as I was about to fall asleep, something suddenly dawned on me. A thought that made every trace of sleep vanish, leaving me more worried and terrified than I've ever been before. Realization hit me hard, real hard.

Dad never calls me sweetheart.

A/N: Mwhahhahahaha! Okay so this chapter didn't turn out as I had originally planned, but I think I'm more happy with this version.
I still have to wrap my mind around the fact that this is the last chapter in season 1. It feels like just yesterday when I started writing the pilot. I NEVER thought I'd end up this far, NEVER. So I really want to personally thank all of you out there. Your patience, support and constructive criticism is what pushed me to writing this. Keep that motivation coming, cause it's not over yet and I will need it :) I wish I could all give you a big kiss and a hug from Jensen, Jared and/or Misha cause you deserve it!

Please let me know what you thought of my take on the first season's finale. I also got a gift from you, I've already written a second part to Devil's Trap from third POV which I will be posting under my new story, Trage(die)s. Make sure to follow me to be notified or you can check my page in a couple of hours, cause I will be posting it tonight.

Just admit it, I'm being too generous ;)

Also, someone asked me who the girl is in my profile pic. Her name is Kristina Pimenova (probably the prettiest girl I've ever seen.) I think she comes close to what i have in mind for Emmy, only blonder. All credits go to January Lily for creating it.

So, I think that's about it. I feel like this is a goodbye, but it really isn't because I WILL MEET YOU ALL IN MY NEXT STORY! SEASON TWO, HERE WE COME!
