Chapter: Being Together

It appeared that her presence wasn't sought out as she would had thought, and Arla found that perfectly fine. She did not want anyone from the drop ship to come find her because if they did, they would discover her personal bunker, but also, might accidentally come across Nyko.

Arla would make the occasional trip to the drop ship, and check in if there were any new plans. She saw how much the teenagers made a fortress around the drop ship, and made a smoke house for meats. She knew Clarke had a hand in making Bellamy see her reasoning when it came to survival.

Presently, Arla was in her bunker after she made a trip to the drop ship to check up on Clarke, and also the progress of finding Octavia again. Of course Arla knew Octavia was meeting up with Lincoln, where those two were developing a strong relationship with one another.

Arla could say the same with Nyko and she. Their relationship was strong, and they bonded over everything and help each other out when it came anything medical related.

The sound of the bunker door open and then shut drew Arla's attention off of the plant and herb book. She watched Nyko jump halfway down the ladder and landed with a slight bend in his knees. Arla stood up from the couch and open her mouth to greet him, but he was before her with a serious expression and his hands gently cup either side of her face.

"Nyko?"

"Do not go to the bridge."

"What are you talking about? What bridge?"

"You do not know?" Nyko hands slowly slid down her face and rested on her shoulders.

"Obviously not." Arla shook her head with raised eyebrows.

A relief sigh escaped Nyko and he took a step back from her. She watched him run a hand through his hair before his ocean blue eyes settle on her.

"One of the sky people found out about Lincoln and Octavia."

"Shit."

"But instead of revealing them, the sky person requested for Lincoln to confront Anya about a meeting at the bridge."

Arla mouth dropped a little and she sat herself back down on the couch. The more she spent with Nyko, the more she learned about the grounders, their cultures, and the tribes, especially the Trikru or Woods Clan where Nyko comes from. It was easier for Nyko and she to have a conversation when they exchange information about themselves and their people.

"Nyko, will this be good?"

"I do not know, and that is why I do not want you going anywhere near the bridge." Nyko knelt down in front of her and rested his hands on top of her knees.

"I probably didn't hear about it because I sort of moved out here and away from everyone." Arla mumbled as she thought about it more.

"Please, stay here. I do not think this meeting will go over well."

"It would most likely not." Arla whispered as she shut her eyes and dropped her forehead against Nyko's forehead.

The two stayed in this position for a while until Nyko stood up and mentioned he brought a fresh loaf of bread. Arla watched Nyko in the small kitchen, slicing the loaf of bread into decent size amounts. Slowly, she pushed herself off of the couch and walked toward him, where she stood beside him. He glanced at her before he held out a slice of bread in front of her.

Arla accepted the slice of freshly warm bread with a grin. She sat up on her tippy toes and peck his cheek before she turned away and bit into the slice of bread. She walked toward the sitting area and sat down on the couch, taking a few more bites of the bread to be done with it.

Nyko sat himself down beside her, and held out his arms as he welcome her closer. Arla took the invitation and curled herself up against Nyko's chest. She shut her eyes as she thought about what Nyko told her, which made some thoughts appear in her head. Her eyes fluttered open and she stared across the bunker with a soft look.

"I can't but think something more."

"About the meeting?"

"About what's to happen to our future." Arla said, resting a hand against his chest and pushing up enough to look him straight in the eyes.

He only tilted his head a little to the side, wanting more of an explanation of what she meant.

"We can't stay hidden forever, Nyko. Someone will notice whether your people or my people."

A sigh escaped from Nyko and his eyes shut. His head bowed lowly to the point his chin touched his chest.

Arla reached up toward his face and ran her left fingertips along his jawline. His attention was drawn back to her.

"I know, and I hope this meeting is actually a turning point of getting along with each other."

Arla gave a small grin as she saw the uncertainty in Nyko's eyes about this whole meeting, and what he said.

"Nyko."

"My people aren't the most accepting of others. We are warriors, and we are…"

"Stubborn."

"That would be one of the various words I would use to explain how hard it is to make us come to equal terms." Nyko nodded a little, giving her a tiny grin.

Her hand upon his face ran down his neck, tracing along his dark blue tattoos. She leaned forward and pressed her lips against his cheek, drawing his attention onto her. Her hand rested against his jaw and she bumped their noses against each other.

"There will be a time where we will not have to stay hidden."

"Hopefully soon, I wish to walk openly with you and not have to worry about being taken away from you." Nyko said softly.

Arla nodded in agreement before her eyelids shuttered shut as Nyko tilted his head to press his lips against her own. The two kissed for a while until Arla pulled away and gave him a smile.

"Can we resume in you teaching me Trigedasleng?"

A small smile appeared on Nyko's lips and he gave a nod. Arla pecked his lips again and then pulled away, crossing her legs as she was sitting on one end of the couch and Nyko sat at the other end. The couch was not big, so if one of them moved, their kneecaps would brush against each other.

Learning the grounders native language, Trigedasleng, Arla was glad Nyko was a patience individual. He was calm and collected, would repeat the word with her over and over again until she said it correctly. Never once would he snap at her or give up. Although Arla had noticed that whenever she asked Nyko about the Trikru or asked him to teach her more about his society, he got this spark in his eyes and a grin upon his lips. It was clear to her that Nyko was happy she was eager to learn more about his tribe and their culture.

There was a point during the lesson Nyko was teaching her where she was in a fit of laughter. She had tried to say a long sentence instead of small basic words, but when she saw Nyko shift in his spot and she saw hints of a pink hue appear on his cheek, she asked him what she said. She had said an inappropriate word in the mix of the sentence, which made it even worst.

"We need to work a little more with sentence formation." Nyko said with a small grin.

"I didn't not believe I asked you to touch my—"

"Ah!"

Arla snickered as Nyko shook his head at her, flustering up once again. She could not believe how flustered he got, especially being a warrior and a healer now. She thought he would not be effected by certain things, but she was wrong. Seeing how fluster Nyko would get, Arla found it amusing. She had a feeling it was just her that he would fluster up with what she said or did.

"I meant to say face, Nyko."

"Well you said something completely on the other end." Nyko muttered as he rubbed the back of his neck.

Once again she was in a fit of laughter, and Nyko soon joined in.

"I think we had enough entertainment for the day." Nyko chuckled a little.

"I think so too." Arla stood up from the couch, brushing her hand across Nyko's shoulders when she was walking by him.

Arla felt Nyko's eyes on her as she stepped into the small kitchen area and put the pot on the electric stove. She suddenly felt in the mood for a cup of peppermint tea to bring a calming effect over her. Although she felt the presence behind her, which made her to slightly glance over her shoulder and looked up at Nyko.

"Would you like a cup?"

"Sure." Nyko nodded.

Arla turned her attention back to plucking dry peppermint off the stem and then crush them into pieces. Her movements came to a halt when she felt Nyko's large hands slide across and then grasp her hips, his firm chest pressed against her back.

"Nyko."

"I cannot get the meeting between our people out of my head."

"Whatever happens, we will find a way to stay together, Nyko." Arla said in a gentle tone.

Nyko ran his nose alongside her neck and up toward the shell of her right ear. Arla could not help but breathy gasp from escaping her lips and her eyes fluttering shut as she was taking in the sensation which spread throughout her body from the small actions Nyko was making.

"It was never a thought in my mind that we will stay separated. This meeting, the result of this said meeting will never stop me from coming to seek you, Arla." Nyko said, his voice becoming a little bit deeper and huskier than usual.

Slowly, Arla made movement to turn around to face him. His hands on her hips lighten up, allowing her to turn around but his hands were place back upon her hips. He pulled her closer and pressed his forehead against her own.

"Nothing is to stand in my way to get to you. Nothing."

"Nyko."

"I will protect you, do not doubt that."

"I do not doubt it because I know you would fight tooth and nail for anything you believe in."

"No." Nyko shook his head.

Arla stared at him with confusion, wondering why he would say no as a reply to her sentence.

"No, I fight for what I love." Nyko said firmly.

Arla rapidly blinked to hold back the emotions, especially seeing how truthful Nyko was. He clearly had admitted to her that he would protect and fight for her because she was something, or rather, someone he loved.

"Nyko."

His lips were pressed against her own and she could not help but kiss him back with as much passion as possible. His hands came off her hips, and his arms constricted her against his body. Arla felt her being pull away from the kitchen, which made her to pull her lips off of Nyko's lips.

"The tea…"

Nyko reached out with his left arm and shut off the electric stove before his attention was back on her. He picked her up, which made her to squeal a bit and he dropped her on the couch. Although, Arla pushed herself up and grabbed the front of Nyko's stop and pulled him close.

"Before we…do anything…this couch isn't big enough…we should pull the bed out." Arla paused each time Nyko or she would press their lips on any bare skin visible to their eyes.

With quick work, the couch was turned into the pull out bed. The large folded blanket on the back of the couch was on the bed and spread out toward the end of the bed to be used later to cover them up. For now, the couple craved one another with great need, especially after Nyko's confessional hint about his love for her.

..

There was an exchange of gasps against each other's lips.

Nyko was lowly panting as he was hovering over Arla, staring down at her. He bent his head down and their lips pressed softly together. Her hands unlatched from his back, and gliding off his back and onto his chest, running her hands across his firm chest.

Slowly, Nyko rolled off of her and she pulled the blanket up and over their bodies.

Arla laid in a blissful state for a few moments, but her eyes opened up as she felt a hand brush against her cheek. She turned her head and stared into Nyko's soft blue eyes. At the moment, there was no words to exchange between them because their facial expressions express the affection and love they had for each other.

She moved herself to be pressed against Nyko's chest, shutting her eyes as she felt his arms come wrapping around her body and their legs tangle together. She nuzzled her face against his semi-sweaty chest, which was drying up at a rapid pace.

"Are you all right?"

"Perfectly fine."

"I saw you wince." Nyko whispered.

A small smile with a slight blush appeared on her face. She kept her eyes shut, and let her left hand brushed up and down his sternum.

"I had only bedded one person before you. That was a few years ago, and it was not the greatest experience. First time and everything, so it was a bit…inexperience."

"I see."

"And you are definitely, um, well…very well-endowed."

She felt his chest expand a bit out, which made her to grin as she felt he was puffing out his chest a bit since she stroke his ego about his manhood. Although, there was a chuckle, which rumbled deep from his chest. Arla gave his chest a playful slap, which resulted in Nyko to laugh out loud.

Arla used the hand on his chest to push herself up and hover over slightly over him, staring down at him with a playful glare. He gave her a smirk, which made the glare to soften on her face and a smile to come onto her lips. She felt one of his hands glide up and down her back, but settle very close to her butt.

Within seconds, Arla was on top of him and her lips pressed against his own. She felt the movement of his lower half, trying to roll them over, but immediately, Arla sat upright on top of him. Nyko stared up at her with raised eyebrows as she sat astride on top of his hips, straddling him with her hands pressing down on his chest.

"Oh no, Nyko, you were on top the first round." Arla wagged her finger at him.

Nyko smiled up at her, his hands running up and down her solid thighs before his hands settle on her hips.

Arla ran her hands up his chest and then down his abdomen area, biting her bottom lip as she kept her eyes on him.

"This time I am on top."

"Yes, milady." Nyko said, his jaw flexing as she was running her hands in a slow and teasing manner across his torso then going down lower and lower.

A small movement from Arla, and there was a mixture of a groan and growl which erupted from Nyko, his hands flexed against her hips. Her hands pressed hard against his chest and a loud gasp escaped her as she continue to sink down on him.

..

..

..

It was loud, but it was enough to vibrate the ground and wake them up.

Nyko sat upright in the bed and tilted his head a little, listening, but the bunker gave another shake.

"The bridge." Nyko whispered as he pushed the blankets off.

"Nyko."

"It must be morning. It must be the bridge. I have to head back to the village, and make sure no one got hurt." Nyko explained as he began to dress as quickly as possible.

Arla sat up in the pull out bed, letting the blanket drop down her body and pool around her hips. Carefully, she slid out from beneath the blanket and got out of the bed, standing near Nyko. She watched as he pulled on his clothes and weapons before he turned his attention onto her.

"Beautiful." Nyko whispered, his eyes moved up and down her nude body.

Nyko took one step to be against her and his lips pressed against hers. Their lips moved against each other, and her hands grasped the front of his shirt in balls of fists. She felt his hands slide all over her body, as if he was taking in every part of her body again before he ran off back to his village.

She was the first to pull back, but kept their lips brushing each other.

"Be careful, be safe…I love you, Nyko."

There was a small yet sharp inhale from Nyko before a deep exhale came from his nose. She felt the small smile appear on his lips before he pressed his lips against hers again, but then pulled away from her altogether.

"I return the feeling, Arla. Stay safe and away from the bridge, love." Nyko whispered and then he rushed for the ladder, climbing up it in record time and leaving the bunker.

"Please stay safe." Arla whispered as she slowly lowered herself down on the bed with a feel of concern for her lover.
