Hi there! Quick author's note:
I abandoned this story about 4 years ago, and then recently I've had writers block on my current stories and was rereading my old stuff. I fell back in love with this and here we are.

I hope you enjoy.
It would mean a lot to me if you would let me know what you think, and what you'd like to see in this story.
Happy Reading!

Violet held the letter in her shaking hands- Scared of her options.

She had made moves to complicate her relationship, if it was possible to make it worse, with Sirius, but now the Ministry had freed her of their 'random' home searches, so he was safe to come stay, if she so allowed. Which Mattox wanted more than anyone else. He was insistent, and had begged his mother more than once to allow it. But she had not decided.

Her heart was so torn. Angry, relieved, scared, overjoyed. It was all so mixed inside she could not figure out which was in control. It was understandable that he wanted his father home, they were very close very quickly.

But now, Molly Weasley had given her another, previously unavailable option.

She had taken Harry from Petunia's house for the remainder of the summer, and after the Quidditch World Cup, which Arthur had gotten tickets to, she wanted to know if Harry could come stay with her until time for school. He was, as the letter said, always welcome in the Weasley home, but had mentioned wanted to get to know his family better.

She blew a breath out her nose, and jotted her positive response to Molly, then sent the owl on its way. In a week's time, Harry would be there.

All that left was Sirius.

He had not said anything to her to pressure her, not that they had spoken too much since the night she had stayed over. But she wanted to get past that, and having him back at home would be a good step in the right direction. If anything, it was moving toward the life she wanted with him in the first place, and they could learn to grow and heal together.

Still in her pajamas, she stepped bare-foot through the floo to the old cottage.

Violet found Sirius asleep in an armchair in the sitting room that the fireplace opened into, mouth slightly agape, the radio playing quietly in the corner. There was a half eaten sandwich on the side table next to him. She padded quietly across the old stone floor, and gently knelt down next to the chair.

"Sirius?" She spoke softly, laying her hand on his.

"Mmm?" He grumbled, not opening his eyes.

"Sirius." She said in a more normal tone. His eyes opened suddenly, then he immediately squinted at the brightness of the room around him.

"Vi?" He growled, his voice rough from sleep.

"Yeah, just me." She said, and couldn't help but smile. Sirius, despite his good looks, was a very graceless sleeper; and his awakenings were even worse.

"S'going on?" He ask with a yawn.

"I have some things I would like to discuss with you. Do you need some coffee first?" Violet stood when he nodded and moved into the kitchen, choosing to summon the needed supplies with her wand rather than rummage through all of Remus' mother's cabinets. She started the pot to percolating and as soon as the smell started to waft through the house, Sirius came in, still half asleep, and flopped into a chair.

"Are you all okay?" He ask, taking the steaming mug Violet held out for him.

"Oh! Ah, yeah. No, its nothing like that." She stammered, feeling very guilty for hurting him so badly. "Its just, Sirius..." She took a few deep breaths and closed her eyes, steeling her nerves so she could speak. "I'm so sorry I hurt you." She said finally, her words shaking.

"Violet. It'skay..." He tried to comfort, his words being overtaken by a yawn.

"No, listen. We really need to talk this out. I never, never meant to hurt you. I just missed you so much." She started to cry, and Sirius sat stone still, hanging on her every word.

"Vi..."

"Do you think we can do it? Be together again I mean." She clarified. "I mean, I'd like to think we have been handed a second chance, and Merlin knows our son wants this more than anything, not that he should be the only reason we do. But, Sirius, I wanted that life with you. We were happy, weren't we?" Ask looked at him with pleading eyes, tears building up behind them.

"I- Yeah. We were. I mean..." He sputtered a bit, and swallowed. "I wasn't the man you needed me to, then. I spent time in bars when I should have came home and- I dunno, rubbed your feet or something. I did things that-" He choked up a bit, and closed his eyes tight. "Vi, there was even a time I cheated on you."

"I know." She said simply. Sirius' eyes flew open. "You think I didn't have people come tell me what you'd gotten up to? And honestly, part of me knew. You never wanted to talk about having a future or getting married. Not until I got pregnant. But I know it was stopped when you found out about Matt, and you were trying for me."

"Gods, Violet. I do not deserve you." Sirius whispered, in awe of the woman before him.

"I always knew who you were, Sirius. Being with you was like loving the wind. Try as I might I couldn't keep you from blowing where you pleased. And we were so, so young." She smiled sadly.

"You really want to try this again?" He ask, his voice hopeful.

"I really do." She nodded. "But... just me and you this time."

"Shit Violet. I was a stupid selfish nineteen year old kid when I did that..." He sputtered.

"I was trying to make light of the situation." Violet explained. "But, really. I came to ask you to come home."

"Home?" His face read with genuine surprise.

"The house you bought us. We still live there. Come home. Harry will be staying soon, and Mattox and Remus will both be glad to have you, too." She laughed. "I will be so outnumbered."

"Violet. Are you sure?" Sirius ask, his grey eyes searching her face.

"I really am." She laid her hands on his.

Mattox was on cloud nine. His mother had came home, holding hands with his father. He had, when he was much younger, dreamed of having his family together properly, not that he had anything against his uncle Remus, who he loved very dearly, and until very recently was the only father figure he had in his life. He was so excited, and the past few days had been so wonderful, he almost forgot that everything was not as perfect as it felt.

A man had been found dead, and according to the papers it was due to the killing curse, so of course the blame had been placed on Sirius. Not that it was at all possible, as he had been on the couch between Mattox and Remus, watching a muggle movie about bank robberies in the early 1920s when the actual crime was supposed to have taken place.

It was obvious it bothered him, because he was quiet and reserved. Mattox had seen his Uncle pull him to the side several times to simply check on him.

Things only got worse when the Dark Mark was seen over the Quidditch World Cup grounds, which was also credited to him. However, it was only one more day until Molly was due to meet with Mattox's mother and bring Harry over. Sirius' depression seemed to lighten slightly. Violet had put Sirius and Mattox in charge of cleaning the house while both she and Remus were working. Mattox hated the silence, so he decided to start asking questions.

"Er, Dad?" He spoke cautiously, waiting.

"Yeah?" Sirius replied, from where he was dusting on top of his mother's lamps in the living room.

"Do you think you and mum will get married now?" He ask, still speaking slowly.

"I, er-" Sirius stopped and turned to face his child. "I hope, but I'm not sure."

"Do you think you guys will have more kids?" Mattox ask, not giving any thought to his father's hesitance in his answers.

"Matt, son, are these things you would be okay with happening?" Sirius ask, concerned.

"Ah, yeah. I always wanted to have a big family. When I was little I used to try to get Mum and Uncle Remus together, but after a while I figured out that was really not about to happen. And it has just been us all this time, then mum said she was going to get you and she said she didn't want me to get my hopes too high in case you guys couldn't make it work out this time. But I just..." Mattox stopped talking when his father enveloped him in a tight hug.

"Matt. I love you. We're going to be a family, one way or another. It might not be what you always wished for. The only thing I want is for you and your mother to be happy. And Remus and Harry, of course. But I promise, I will always love you. You Mum will always love you. Remus will. We will be here for you no matter what."

"Thanks, dad." Mattox said shyly, a bit embarrassed.

"But to answer your questions, between me and you... I hope so. My goal is to get my name cleared, marry your mother, and hopefully, if fate allows, see about adding you a sister to the mix. Seems we have enough of us boys around." He grinned, and Mattox smiled too.

"Okay, good." He laughed.

"We should probably get to cleaning before mum gets home, though. Eh?" Sirius said, ruffling his son's hair. Mattox agreed, and together father and son continued to clean their home.
