A/N: Kurata Keiko is (officially; I'm not making it up :D) one of the dark spore children – the one who wanted to open a bakery. I thought the surname was quite amusing, considering the Kurata that's more well-known in Savers.

The Kurata Family and Digimon

Kurata Keiko loved the digimon. She'd wanted to be a Chosen. She'd become one. She'd received Yukimibotamon.

She taught her son about the digimon, and he loved them too. He had a Yukimibotamon too. And he taught his children. They loved the stories, though they didn't get Digimon of their own. The worlds had started moving apart by then. But they still loved Digimon. The digimon they heard in their father's tales, and in those of their grandmother.

But, somewhere along the line, love turned to fear and hatred. Maybe it was when the digital world vanished into time. When the digimon vanished. When all the Chosen died and the new lives heard the stories and thought of them only as legends, as make-believe.

It was the sort of story that had cupids at the window and monsters under the bed as well.

By the time Kurata Akihiro was born, that was all the digimon were. And he saw the monsters under the bed more than he saw cupids at the windowsill. And he feared them. When he discovered they were real, he began to hate them as well. They did nothing to disprove his assumptions: did nothing to pick themselves out of that monster under the bed image in his mind.

The Kurata family had started by loving digimon. But they'd ended in hatred for it.
