Hi everybody! Now I know that I have a few other projects that I need to keep up with, and I AM working on those, but I just needed to get this idea out there already! Its been bugging me in my head for the longest time now, and I just felt like now is the right time to introduce it to the world! This is all set before Blake reveals that she is a Faunus to everyone, and thus it is very early on in the series, earlier than even the situation between Jaune and Cardin. Regardless, without further ado I present to you, for your reading pleasure, this amazing story. I hope you all like it!

Blake Belladonna was not a girl who was easily stunned or left in surprise. She was a strong, independent, well trained, and intelligent individual that had the ability to accept and adapt to nearly any situation in and out of battle. However no amount of mental training, or kind of preparation, could have allowed her to act in any way but pure shock at the thing she found on her routine trip into Vale to Tuckson's bookshop.

"Goo?" The tiny voice asked in curiosity at the way that Blake's mouth continued to open and close as small sounds of incomprehension continued to escape from the black haired beauty's mouth.

Finally after what seemed to be an eternity of stunned silence Blake sprung to her full height and pointed at the thing hidden in the alley before shouting out in a very uncharacteristic manner. "Who leaves a child in an alley?!"

Blake's sudden movement and shout resulted in a very spooked child and before Blake was even finished shouting in surprise, the baby scrunched up its face and wailed out in fear. Blake, ever quick to react, immediately dipped down and lifted the child out of the very weathered basket that it was in. She was unsure of exactly what to do in such a situation and decided to fall back on what she had seen done to calm babies down in the few movies she had actually watched.

"Shh. Shh. It's okay, it's okay, no need to cry." She tried to whisper calmly into the baby's ear as she gently bounced the child in her arms. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to frighten you…" quickly realizing that she knew nothing about this child she dipped down again towards the basket, making sure that the baby was firmly in her arms as she searched its contents for any information.

"Aha!" she exclaimed as she reveled in her luck at finding a piece of paper hidden under the roof of the basket. She quickly read it as she continued to whisper soothing words at the baby.

To whomever this may concern. I apologize but I simply cannot continue to raise her. I wish I could, but nowhere is safe anymore now that I have chosen to go down this path. She would always be in danger with me, and I would be nothing but a hindrance to my comrades if I tried to raise her in this environment. I hope and pray that whosoever finds her will have a large heart, and will not discriminate against her for what she is, but will instead love her for who she may become. Please keep my angel safe, from one crying and heartbroken mother to a new mother. I wish you well. -Anonymous

Moon Noke, she was born February 22, and she can't fall asleep unless she's being talked to.

Those were the last words on the note, leaving Blake more confused than anything. This mother seemed to care greatly about her daughter, so how could she just leave the little one like this, in a dirty alley that hardly anyone travels on. Shaking her head she slowed the bouncing down and began to caress the girls head before she felt two strange bumps on the baby's head.

At first Blake panicked, believing something might be terribly wrong with the child. She quickly sat on the ground and placed Moon on her lap before she began to worriedly push aside the girls hair bonnet, before gasping in shock at finding two small little pointed ears.

"You're a Faunus." Blake whispers out in awe. She observes Moon for a few more moments before she begins to caress her head again. "It's okay Moon. It's okay. I'm here."

As the baby girl began to settle down again Blake observed Moon for the first time. For a baby, she was rather unremarkable to say the least. She was small, so very small, but looked moderately healthy based on what she knew about babies in the first place. She had dark yellow, almost orange colored hair that fully covered her head, with her two ears barely poking above the top of her hair. Blake frowned at seeing them, knowing that before too long the girls ear's would grow to be too big to hide in such a way. She then observed the small feetie pajama that Moon was clothed in and frowned at the weathered state of the clothes. It was obvious that whoever left Moon there was not someone with much money.

Finally after a few minutes Blake realized that her constant caressing and cooing of Moon resulted in the small girl falling asleep. Very carefully she lowered Moon back into her basket before picking it up. She looked down at the sleeping baby inside it, looking absolutely innocent and helpless in this cruel world. Blake's heart went out to moon greatly, knowing the kind of hardships an orphaned Faunus went through personally.

It really was a cruel thing to grow up in the Kingdom Orphanages, at least if you were a Faunus. While the caretakers themselves were always screened so that they were absolutely fair and kind to all the children, Faunus orphans were always the chosen victims for any cruel thing that the children wanted to do. Adoption was also incredibly rare for the Faunus, and the pain of seeing other's find happiness and new families while you stayed alone and constantly tortured was too much for many. There was a reason many Faunus orphans crowded the streets after all.

Honestly the kindest thing that Blake could do would be to leave the girl in a more populated and well travelled place. Perhaps someone else would come along and find the baby, someone with the means to provide for her, to love her, to protect her from all the terrible things that no one had ever protected HER from. Perhaps there might be some kind individual that would find raising a Faunus as an adventurous task, one that might even be used an example to help bridge the gap between the races. Perhaps Moon could have a real shot at a family.

Perhaps Moon could be found by someone who hated Faunus and would take advantage of a defenseless baby.

No.

No, no, no. It was a terrible, absolutely horrible idea, but she would NOT let this child go. She knew what things were like out there in the world. She knew the cards that had been dealt to the Faunus. She knew she could protect this girl, find someone to provide for her, give her someone that could LOVE her out of her own heart rather than a sense of obligation. SHE could be Moon's…mother.

This innocent child, this baby girl…HER baby girl would NOT grow up the way she did. She would make sure of it.

She sighed at herself, frustrated with her decision but knowing that it was the right one to make. She opened her eyes and stared at Moon, the smallest of smiles forming on her face.

"Guess what Moon." She said to the sleeping baby as she began to walk fully out of the alley. She looked across the street that the alley opened out into and saw Tuckson's bookstore. "You're going to come with me. I just need to pick up some required reading first."

Walking across the street and up to the store, Blake opened the door, now intent to purchase anything on Babies she might need. As she walked in however a very important thought struck her. 'How am I going to explain this to my team?'

Line Break

Blake crept through the open window to her dorm room, Moon wrapped snuggly against her in a makeshift blanket harness along with the only three books on babies that Tuckson's had. She looked around her very carefully; making sure that no one was around before she sat down at the desk and laid moon down on its surface.

Blake sighed, looking down at Moon's sleeping form and grimacing at her situation. There was no way that she could possibly hide Moon from her teammates, let alone the fact that the baby was a Faunus. For all the kindness that her teammates had shown so far, she didn't know how they really felt about the Faunus situation. She hadn't even revealed her Faunus origin to her friends yet, and she was risking bringing a child into a potentially difficult living situation.

Suddenly she heard a loud crashing around her and she turned towards her doorway where sounds of moving furniture, breaking pottery, and scared shouting were coming from.

"Agh! No! Nora, put that down! Put that down now!" She heard Ren's voice scream in a panic.

"Well met Nora!" That was Pyrrha, apparently loving what was happening in that room from the obvious joy in her voice. "I must say, you are quite the challenge."

"For the love of everything good and right please stop! It's just supposed to be an arm wrestling match, not a full blown brawl!" Jaune screamed before groaning as another crashing sound came from the room. "Oh man! Pyrrha! That was my framed X-Ray and Vav issue 12! That's the first introduction of the Mad King!"

"Aww don't be such a whiner Jaune! Pyrrha's in it to win it! But she won't~" Nora's playful voice said. Blake could only shake her head at the antics of her neighbors before she heard a small voice begin to whimper.

Snapping her head back to Moon, Blake was distraught to see the little girl balling her fists and beginning to squirm in what was obviously a very uncomfortable sleep. Blake tried her best to calm Moon down, but before too long the baby began to cry and wail.

Blake looked around, her head whipping back and forth in panic and she tried her best to stop the child from crying, but it was all useless as nothing she did seemed to calm down Moon. She hurried to her books and threw them open, trying to find some sort of instructions in a hurry. She knew she wouldn't be able to keep Moon a secret for too long, but if this kept up then everything would fall apart before it really even began.

"Ah!" Blake shouted in frustration as she couldn't find anything in her frantic search and went to harness Moon up and escape out the window when suddenly her door slammed open. Turning Blake expected the worst, possibly an irate Goodwitch or even a Nag Ready Weiss. She was however completely shocked to see Jaune Arc standing there at her door, eyes sharp and determined, foot raised from just kicking the door open, and a small bag in his hands.

"Jaune?!" Blake said in complete shock and confusion before the blond moved forward. In one swift move he closed the door with his foot, reached Blake, lifted Moon out of her shocked arms, and started a gentle swaying motion that had immediate effects in quieting down the baby. Blake was gob smacked to say the least. "H-how did you do that?" Blake asked, but Jaune ignored her as he realized something.

"Do you have a cloth or something?" Jaune said completely throwing Blake off. "Preferably something clean but that you're not very attached to." He continued before placing Moon on the table.

Deciding to just roll with this strange turn of events Blake went through her belongings before coming back to Jaune with an old white undershirt. When she handed it to him though she noticed that the young man had pulled a set of disinfectant wipes and a hand towel, as well as a plastic bag he had pulled out of the small bag he brought into the room with him. "Here." She said handing him the article of clothing only for him to rip it apart right in front of her.

"Hey! What are you doing to my stuff?!" She hissed at Jaune, but he merely silenced her with a rare steely eyed gaze before he placed the ripped cloth on the table and reached for Moon's fasteners. "Wait, what are you doing?" She asked in a slight Panic. Was Jaune going to do something to Moon?

The young man apparently had enough of being questioned and just gave an exasperated look at the panicking black haired girl. "Blake, calm down, I'm not doing anything but changing what feels to be a VERY heavy diaper. I'm surprised you didn't even feel it."

Blake gaped at Jaune for a few moments giving the boy just enough time to unbutton the baby's clothes and take them off to get access to the diaper, only to freeze in shock at what was hidden within.

"Um…Blake?" Jaune slowly questioned, his eyes glued on the backside of the little girl. Besides him Blake was wide eyed in absolute worry, frantically trying to think of something, anything to say about the question she knew was about to come. "Why does this baby girl have a bushy tail?"

Blake's face heated up in pure embarrassment as she could think of nothing to say. "…Because she likes to cosplay?" She said lamely. She knew it was stupid as soon as she said it and scrunched up her eyes.

"…hmm." Jaune hummed in slight concern before shaking his head and deciding to ignore it. He took off the VERY full diaper and proceeded to wipe, clean, and dry off the child before tossing the stinky object into the plastic bag. He then took the ripped up shirt and folded it, crafting a makeshift cloth diaper for Moon, tying it up in the front with the loose ends. Satisfied with his work, Jaune redressed Moon and picked her up into one of his arms, tying up and tossing the garbage into the nearby waste bin.

"There, now is that all better?" Jaune cooed at Moon, eliciting a small giggle from the baby. "Yes it is, yes it is. Now that you're all clean I'm sure you'll be a lot less grumpy." Jaune continued to entertain Moon, making funny faces and noises at the girl for a few more minutes until she once more returned to sleep.

Nodding his head at a job well done, Jaune turned to look at Blake who was staring at him with an amazed look in her eyes. Before he opened his mouth to ask the question he wanted to ask however Blake had to blurt out the number one thing on her mind.

"Jaune…how did you DO that." Blake asked with obvious awe in her voice. Jaune blushed a bit at that and scratched the back of his head as Blake continued. "I never thought that you would be good-"

"Good with kids?" Jaune asked slightly proud, cutting Blake off.

"-At anything." Blake continued causing Jaune to deflate, his pride taking a very heavy hit. "But yes, how is it that you are so good with children. I've never seen you take charge and act on anything like I've just seen you do before."

Jaune sighed at Blake and just shrugged his shoulders before looking back down at Moon. "It's just something you pick up when you have seven sisters. Other than my two older ones I've pretty much had to help out with all of them at one point or another. Honestly, I've taken care of so many baby things that I could probably do this stuff in my sleep by now if I wanted to."

Blake observed Jaune briefly as the blond boy began to caress the baby Faunus' head, his fingers playing with her ears before a thought occurred to him. Turning Moon over slightly and placing her on the bed Jaune pulled out a small pocket knife. He moved it towards Moon only to suddenly have his hand grabbed in a tight grip. He turned to Blake to see her glaring at him with obviously wild eyes and Jaune had to use an insane amount of self-control not to empty his bladder at the sight.

"Just what do you think you're doing?" Blake growled out through grit teeth. Despite everything Jaune had done and shown to her in this brief encounter Blake still had a deep fear ingrained into her. Anyone holding anything like a knife to an infant, let alone HER infant, was too dangerous to not do anything about.

"Whoa, calm down Blake." Jaune managed to say through the pain he was feeling in his wrist. Damn, but Blake had a strong grip. "Just trust me; I'm only trying to help."

Blake kept her grip on his wrist for a few more seconds before she closed her eyes and let go. She refocused them on the blond immediately after, making sure that she would be able to spring into action if anything happens.

Jaune looked at Blake for a few more moments, rubbing his wrist before turning to Moon again. He very carefully grabbed her pajama from a spot just above where he rear would be and pulled it up. Using his pocket knife he carefully cut a small hole in the fabric before using his fingers to spread it and make it bigger. Looking at Blake again he made sure that she saw him close the knife and return it to his pocket before he used his other hand to dip into the clothing, grab onto Moon's tail gently, and ease it through the new hole he had created in the fabric.

Immediately after doing so Blake and Jaune heard a content sigh escape from Moon before she snuggled deeper into the bed. Smiling down at the girl, Jaune once again patted her head before turning to Blake, who now looked extremely guilty for assuming that Jaune might do something harmful to Moon.

Rubbing his face in exhaustion, Jaune puzzled over how exactly he should begin the conversation that he knew he was going to have to have with Blake. Honestly he didn't know why he put himself into these types of situations, but when Jaune's trained crying detection hearing went off he just immediately reacted.

"Blake-" "Jaune-" The two began speaking at the same time before quieting down. Deciding that it would probably be best if he got his questions out of the way, Blake gestured for him to continue.

"Blake, why do you have a baby Faunus? What are you doing with it? Do your teammates know you have her? Do the teachers?" Jaune asked deciding to be quick about things for once in his life.

Blake winced at the questions and sighed, turning to look out the window. "I have her because I found her." She said simply. She heard Jaune about to ask another question but she quickly cut him off. "I have her because she can be safe with me. I can protect her, provide for her…love her. I have her because…we have no one else but each other."

Jaune looked at the black haired beauty before him and tried to read in between her words, but wasn't very successful. He leaned forward on the bed and shook his head. "That's not true Blake. You have your team, and my team. We're your friends, we're here for you."

"It's not the same Jaune." Blake denied, shaking her head and looking at the floor. "You don't understand what it is to be so different. When I found her, I couldn't just leave her there in the alley. And I couldn't take her to an Orphanage, no matter what anybody might say. Those places are like hells to the Faunus."

Jaune swallowed in nervousness as Blake seemed to be talking with a bit too much emotion. He was getting a little uncomfortable. "Okay, I can understand why you didn't take her to that place, but surely you have an alternative right? I mean, it's not like you were planning on raising her by yourself right?" Jaune chuckled a bit at his attempted joke before he saw the look on Blake's face and realized that he had hit the nail on the head. "Oh my god you were really going to try to raise her by yourself?"

"Not by myself per se!" Blake said rather defensively. "Obviously I would get some help. From things like Books, and hopefully my team. If they decide to help me keep her a secret from the teachers."

Jaune couldn't believe what he was hearing. He rolled his eyes and actually gaped at Blake's utter dismissal of the severity of her situation.

"Books? You're going to rely on those before anything else? Good luck with that. And have you MET your teammates? One's an heiress that hasn't had to work a day in her life, another is a party animal without a care in the world, and the last…well Ruby is mature for her age but she does tend to act pretty childish herself. There's no way that any of them would know anything about taking care of a Baby."

Blake looked quite chastised at the end of Jaune's rant and looked back down at the ground. She knew that the blond boy had a point, but dammit, did he have to SOUND so right? It just wasn't fair for Jaune Arc to be the one chastising her when nine times out of ten she or one of the others would have been the ones doing the chastising.

"Listen Blake, I know you mean well, but you absolutely can't keep her here." Jaune said. Blake's eyes widened in panic and she felt as if her blood had frozen at those words. "I'm not saying you can't keep her because she's a baby Faunus, I'm saying it because Babies need a lot of care and attention. That's something that you can't provide as a student." No, no, no, no, no, no! He can't say such a thing. He's not right.

Jaune sighed and rubbed his palm over his face. He hated to be the bad guy, but this was what was best for the baby. "Blake…I need to tell the teachers about this. Maybe not Ozpin, or even Goodwitch, but you can't keep her here. She can't learn how to grow up properly here."

"No! You can't do that Jaune!" Blake nearly yelled, only her pristine self control allowing her to keep her voice low enough. It would do her no good to attract more unwarranted attention. "You can't let them know. As soon as they do, they'll just take her away!"

"Yes! They will!" Jaune said firmly, trying to put his foot down. "Don't you see?! That's the right way to do this! Blake, look at you! You have absolutely no idea what you're doing! What if something happens, something that you are completely unprepared for?! Can you honestly say that you can take care of her on your own?!"

Blake flinched backwards and seemed to curl into herself a bit before glaring back at Jaune. "Well, no, not really-" She began but Jaune cut her off.

"And that's exactly the point! I know your heart is in the right place but you just can't do this alone Blake! Why are you fighting so hard to keep her when you know that there are other options for you?!"

"Because I'm the only one that can make sure she doesn't grow up to be like me!" Blake finally said, eyes scrunched up and her hands balled into fists by her side. Jaune was stunned into speechlessness and Moon was beginning to stir from the semi loud noise of the argument. Jaune spared a glance at Moon but refocused on Blake quickly where he noticed that the girl had tears falling down her face.

"I know its selfish okay! I know that it's probably the worst idea I've ever had! I know that even though I've been a mom for less than four hours that I've gotten way in over my head! But I don't care! All I care about, right now, is making sure that Moon grows up and has a better life than I did!" Blake exclaimed all of this at Jaune, more and more of her emotions bleeding out into the speech. Jaune had no idea what to say, no idea what to do. All he knew was that right now, there was a crying person in front of him, and he needed to do something to make her better.

"Blake…Blake I understand that you had a hard childhood. In some way's so did I…but I don't understand why you're fighting so HARD. Despite that though…it's going to be okay." Jaune said, trying his best to comfort the distraught girl. He slowly kneeled down and placed a hand on her shoulder. "It'll be okay. I won't go to the professors…today. But you need help with this Blake. A LOT of help. I won't go to the professors like I said…but only if I know that you can actually take care of her. So for now, please, just don't cry."

Blake looked up at Jaune's face, laced with concern, and wiped at her tear filled eyes. She slowly nodded an affirmation to Jaune and he smiled before sighing and standing back up to his full height. Now that that ordeal was done, he didn't know what else to do. The feeling in the room was beginning to get awkward.

"Well, um…I really do have to get going now Blake. My team might need me for stuff, heh. You can keep all of that stuff on the table, you'll need it…and that's about it yup. So, I'm going to go now, if you ever need anything I'm right across the hall. Ha ha…ha…" Jaune wiped his hands on his pants and swallowed nervously one more time before he turned and headed towards the door.

Meanwhile in Blake's head she was coming up with a plan. Jaune had given her time, and had told her that she would have to meet his standards of caretaking if she wanted to keep Moon a Secret from the teachers. And he had just offered to help her if she needed anything. And who better to make sure that Jaune's standards were met than Jaune himself.

"Jaune, wait." The black haired beauty exclaimed, rising from her seated position. She turned to face Jaune who had also turned back to face her, a mix of confusion and panic on his face. "Jaune…can YOU help me raise Moon?"

Jaune's eyes widened in surprise before he pointed at himself. "Me?! You want me to help you raise her? Why?!"

"Because you already know everything! You can make sure that she is growing the way she needs to grow! You're absolutely right, I can't do everything on my own, but if you were there by my side each step of the way, I'm sure I could learn more than enough to make sure she's as happy as she possibly can be!" Blake said, trying her best to make Jaune fall in line with her logic.

Unfortunately for her, the blond had an unusually thick skull. "But I can't. I mean, I-I-"

"You're perfect for the job Jaune. Think about it, who else among those we know could even possess half of the knowledge you have about raising children. If it's not YOU…I don't know if I can do this." Blake finished with a look of absolute depression and looked away from Jaune.

Inwardly Jaune groaned. He couldn't say no to a face like that! He then looked back onto the bed where the sleeping baby lied and sighed in resignation. He couldn't say no to a face like that either. Slowly Jaune shifted his body right and groaned lowly, slapping his forehead. "Yeah, okay…I'll help you raise her." Jaune agreed.

"Oh thank you!" Blake cried out in joy, before she very quickly and uncharacteristically ran and gave Jaune a hug. "Thank you so much Jaune."

Jaune blushed a bit from the close physical contact but relaxed after a moment, deciding to just enjoy the moment. He shook his head once more and looked up at the ceiling.

'Just what have I gotten myself into?' he thought to himself.

And that's the show everybody! I hope you all liked it and are ready for more chapters to come out soon! I'll try and deliver!
