Hey y'all! I just had my mind on the latest episode and this story popped in my head. It's short, just two parts. I hope y'all enjoy it. I don't own anything.
Part 1
Felicity's POV
I step out of my car, and I'm immediately surrounded by the ominous noises that have made the Glades their permanent home. I shrug deeper into my coat in an attempt to keep the cold damp air from stinging my skin as I walk across the empty parking lot outside of Verdant. It's almost three in the morning, and Verdant is usually still full of partiers, but the club is never open Monday nights.
Most likely do to the fact that all the people need at least one evening to recover from their long weekend of drinking, dancing, and vomiting. It's not surprising that I love Monday evenings at Verdant. It makes it easier to concentrate on my work in the foundry without hundreds of horny boys and drunk girls dancing right above me.
"Oh god, I sound like an old lady." I mumble to myself. I guess I've never been into the whole club scene. I'd much prefer to spend my weekend in the quiet comfort of my home, curled up with a good book and a nice glass of wine.
"Says the girl going to a club even when the regulars have the good sense to stay home." I really need to stop talking to myself. But it's true, I really should be home, sleeping in my nice warm bed.
Oliver and Thea just came back home from the island the other day, and with everything that happened we thought some rest and relaxation was in order. So we collectively decided that it'd be safe for everyone to take the night off and stay home.
It sounded great. It's been such a difficult few months. I thought a night off was exactly what I needed. And though it probably still is, I just couldn't get my mind, or my body for that matter, to cooperate. I was so restless. I've gotten too used to late nights fighting crime.
I tried reading, watching TV, even cleaning, but nothing got me to settle down. I tried sleeping, but multiple thoughts kept swirling around my head. Thoughts of Sara, the city, Slade, the team, and… and Oliver.
After lying awake in bed for hours, I gave up on sleeping and decided to go to the foundry and try to get some work done. I got up, grabbed my tablet and checked the GPS I installed on Oliver's and Diggle's phones. They were both in their homes. I was glad. I rarely ever get the foundry to myself these days. It would be nice to get some uninterrupted work done. So I got dressed and headed out.
I reach the front doors of Verdant. I pull out my key to unlock them, but find that they're already open.
"Odd." I frown. Why would they be open? Even if one of the team were here, they would lock the doors behind them. I slow push through the doors. I don't exactly have a bad feeling, but I make sure my phone is in my pocket so I can call for help just in case.
I walk deeper into the dimly lit club, I don't see anything unusual. I start to relax. I being paranoid. Someone just forgot to lock the door. Suddenly, a loud crash echoes throughout the warehouse. I jump, but manage not to scream.
"Shit." a familiar voice sounds from behind the bar. I inch closer. I'm almost close enough to look over the bar. A hand shoots up from the other side and gabs onto the bar. I take a quick step back. The hand struggles for support as it slow pulls a very drunk looking Thea up from the floor. She has a broken vodka bottle in her hand. She stares at it for a moment before tossing it to the floor. My heart floods with sorrow as I look at her. Oliver had told us that Thea now knew she was the one who killed Sara. I can't imagine what she's going through right now, but I can see the well hidden pain burning behind her eyes.
"Thea?" she turns towards me, stumbling a little. Her glazed eyes take a minute to focus on me. She slowly gives me a once over.
"Clubs closed." She say, in a surprisingly steady voice, then she turns away and focuses her attention on the bottles of alcohol that line the wall. I guess she doesn't recognize me in her drunken state. I'm not really surprised. It's not like we ever really talked before.
"Thea I…. I work for, or actually, with your bother. We've met before."
"I know who you are. Your Smoak something." She snatches up another bottle of vodka and turns back to face me.
"Felicity Smoak." I say.
"Yeah, whatever. Your Oliver's assistant. The one everyone thought he was screwing." I try not to let her words bother me. It helps that Thea quickly distracts me by pulling herself up onto the bar with her vodka tucked safely in her arms. She rather comically scoots across the top of the bar on her stomach until she rolls off the other side. She nearly falls to the floor, but manages to catch herself. She sets herself down on a barstool and cracks open her bottle. "Turns out you weren't sleeping with him, you were just helping him fight crime."
"Yeah, well, I couldn't exactly tell anyone that." I ease myself into a seat beside her. Something tells me I shouldn't leave her alone.
"I guess not." She says with a dark laugh. "But it must have sucked having everyone think you were a slut." She takes a drink of the clear liquid straight from the bottle.
"It wasn't fun, but it was just something I had to deal with."
"You could've just quit."
"That wasn't an option. Oli….. the team needed me. I couldn't let them down. I couldn't let the city down."
"Well it must be fun being a big important hero and having everyone need you." She takes another drink. "Why are you even here? Olli told me no one was going to be here tonight ."
"I couldn't sleep. I thought I could get some work done in the foundry." I say.
"Then why don't you just go." She lifts her hand and drunkenly waves me away.
"Why don't you stop drinking." I retort. She looks at me with a raised eyebrow.
"Touché." She says and takes another drink. Neither of us say anything for a while. I'm about to break the silence when Thea asks me a question. "How'd you get dragged into all this anyway? You don't look like the superhero type." I smile.
"Long story short? Oliver needed a lot of tech help and eventually ran out of excuses and had to tell me what was really going on. I agreed to help him because I wanted to find Walter." Her eyes widen.
"That's right. Oliver told me what you did to saved Walter."
"I didn't really save him. I was just tech support really." I say.
"No you weren't." she whispers. Thea's entire demeanor changes, though I'm not sure why. "Oliver told me about the casino. How you risked your life to get info on Walter…..Why? Why risk your life to save someone you barely know?"
"I might not have known Walter that well, but I knew he was a good person. He deserved to be rescued. I couldn't just sit back and do nothing, not when I knew it was in my power to help." Thea gets a faraway look in her eyes. She sets her bottle down on the bar and looks down at her lap.
"You really are a hero. Only a hero would think that way." She says. "Me, I'd put myself first. I would've been too selfish to save anyone. I've always been selfish. So selfish that I went to a man that killed over five hundred people because I was afraid of getting hurt. I want to protect myself. Just me. I didn't care about anyone else."
"Thea…."
"I killed Sara." She glances at me and sighs. "I see you already know that… Guess I shouldn't be surprised." She runs her hands over her face. "I don't know how you can even stand to be near me. Sara was probably your friend, and I murdered her."
"Thea what happened wasn't your fault. It was Malcom's." she ignores me.
"I deserve to be punished. I'm literally getting away with murder. It's not fair. Not to Sara, not to her family."
"You don't deserve to be punished Thea, you didn't mean to hurt anyone." She continues to shut me out. I'm starting to get worried.
"You know what they do to people that murder someone?" Thea slow reaches into her jacket and pulls out a gun. She points it at the side of her head. "They execute them."
Well, I hope you liked part one, part two will be up soon. Please leave a review and tell me what you think.
